Introduction: The quality of work-life plays a significant role in employee satisfaction and organizational effectiveness. Due to their direct educational impacts, teachers play a unique role in nurturing future generations of society. This study aimed to investigate the quality of the work-life of teachers in Mehriz City. Methods: This descriptive practical study was carried out among 440 people as the study population. We selected 248 people randomly by cluster sampling method. The data collection tools included the Ilgan Quality of work-life Questionnaire. To analyze the data, we used descriptive and inferential statistics and SPSS software. Results: The findings showed that the quality of the work-life of teachers was at a desirable level, but the wages and benefits were at an unacceptable level. Conclusion: The findings of this study emphasized that the principal concern of the teachers in Mehriz was the issue of wages and benefits. Therefore, teachers not satisfied with their current salary cannot have ideal creativity, planning, and educational efficiency. Although the reward of a teacher's work is not just in the form of material rewards, the reality is that a decent wage is a necessity to live a dignified life.

Background Quality of work-life is an important factor in the recruitment and retention of the nursing workforce and their work productivity. Aims This study aimed to identify factors that affect the quality of work-life of nurses. Methods In this correlational study, 239 nurses employed in a tertiary teaching hospital in Iran completed the study questionnaires, including the quality of work-life questionnaire. The associations between potential independent variables and quality of work-life were examined using multivariate regression analysis. Results Participants were mostly women (80.33%) and within the age range of 30–45 years (71.54%). Working in other hospitals, having a second job and health information-seeking behaviours were significant predictors of quality of work-life, explaining 28.68% of the total variance in quality of work-life of nurses. Conclusions Improving working standards may prevent nurses from working extra hours or in different occupations. This, along with facilitating the health information-seeking behaviours of nurses, may help improve their quality of work-life by maintaining a better work-life balance and acquiring knowledge and skills that can help with effective management of work and life commitments.

This study examines the relationship between EFL teachers’ quality of work life (QWL) and their job motivation. 126 Iranian EFL teachers currently working in high schools of Tehran were administered two questionnaires that assessed their motivation and quality of work life. Participants’ motivation to teach was assessed using a questionnaire developed by Noe & Bachhuber (1990) which includes three major subscales: career insight (8 items), career identity (5 items), and career resilience (13 items). In addition this study used Walton’s (1973) widely used quality of work life questionnaire. This 29-item questionnaire includes eight subscales: adequate and fair compensation (4 items), safe and healthy working (3 items), continued growth and security (3 items), constitutionalism in the work organization (5 items), the social relevance of work life (3 items), total life space (4 items), social integration in the work organization (4 items), and human progress capabilities (3 items). The results revealed that Iranian EFL teachers experience medium to low levels of motivation and QWL. In addition, a significant relationship was found between QWL categories and job motivation. Further, the best QWL predictors for teacher motivation were identified. The findings of this study are hoped to serve as a reference for principals and educational decision-makers in bringing about higher levels of motivation for language teachers.

Background: Stressful workplace experiences of police officers predispose them to physical and psychological injuries and affect their quality of work-life (QWL). Objectives: Therefore, this study aimed to examine the QWL of Iranian police officers. Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in 2020 on 200 police officers working in different job positions of the Iranian Police Organization. A convenience sampling method was used to recruit the participants from 12 police departments in five cities. The Police Quality of Work-life questionnaire (PQWLQ) was used for data collection. The measures of descriptive and inferential statistics (independent-samples t-test, one-way analysis of variance, and Pearson correlation coefficient) were used for data analysis. Results: Of the 200 police officers, 87.5% (175) were males, 68% (136) had a bachelor’s degree or higher, and their work experience ranged between five and 27 years. The QWL score of the study participants ranged from 24 to 120 with a mean (± SD) of 63.20 (± 18.40), and the majority of them (56%) had a moderate QWL. Male police officers had a higher QWL (67%) than female ones (45%) (P < 0.05). Conclusions: The majority of the police officers who participated in this study had a moderate QWL. To increase the level of QWL among police officers, the Police authorities should plan appropriate strategies and programs.
