Objectives: Therefore, this study aimed to examine the QWL of Iranian police officers. Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in 2020 on 200 police officers working in different job positions of the Iranian Police Organization. A convenience sampling method was used to recruit the participants from 12 police departments in five cities. The Police Quality of Work-life questionnaire (PQWLQ) was used for data collection. The measures of descriptive and inferential statistics (independent-samples t-test, one-way analysis of variance, and Pearson correlation coefficient) were used for data analysis. Results: Of the 200 police officers, 87.5% (175) were males, 68% (136) had a bachelor’s degree or higher, and their work experience ranged between five and 27 years. The QWL score of the study participants ranged from 24 to 120 with a mean (± SD) of 63.20 (± 18.40), and the majority of them (56%) had a moderate QWL. Male police officers had a higher QWL (67%) than female ones (45%) (P < 0.05). Conclusions: The majority of the police officers who participated in this study had a moderate QWL. To increase the level of QWL among police officers, the Police authorities should plan appropriate strategies and programs.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic and the increased workload and stress associated with the disease prevalence have posed a high risk of burnout to nurses. The effects of the workplace and environmental factors on resilience and burnout among nursing professionals have not been investigated in Iran. Objective: Present study aimed to assess a model linking quality of work-life to the resilience and various dimensions of burnout among Iranian nursing professionals based on the health service workplace environmental resilience model. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study performed on 202 Iranian nurses employed in three educational hospitals. Maslach burnout inventory, Brooks’ quality of nursing work-life survey, and an abbreviated version of the Connor-Davidson resilience scale were used to collect data. The correlation between the study variables was assessed by conducting path analysis in AMOS 22. Results: The final model demonstrated adequate fit. The quality of working life indirectly affected burnout via a direct impact on nursing professionals’ resilience (p <0.001, β = 0.39). In addition, resilience had negative, significant effects on all the dimensions of job burnout. The quality of work-life also had negative and significant effects on emotional exhaustion (p <0.001, β = -0.38) and reduced personal accomplishment (p <0.001, β = - 0.38). Conclusion: Resilience and quality of work-life are protective variables against burnout in nursing professionals. Nursing managers can increase resilience and decrease burnout among nursing professionals by adopting policies that can improve the quality of work life.

Psychological empowerment may provide more satisfaction towards a job and better productivity towards employees’ work and life. The aim of this study is to investigate the link between psychological empowerment and the quality of work life [QWL] in a government-linked company in Malaysia. Employing a cross-sectional survey research design, 182 employees from a financial sector company were recruited using simple random sampling method. The Psychological Empowerment Questionnaire [Spreitzer, 1995] and Quality of Work Life Questionnaire [Walton, 1980] were used to measure psychological empowerment and the quality of work life [QWL]. Data was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science [SPSS]. Results showed that, the overall level of psychological empowerment is at a high level, while the level of quality of work life [QWL] is at a moderate level. The findings also showed that the relationship between psychological empowerment and the quality of work life has a very weak relationship. It can be concluded that, psychological empowerment is associated to quality of work life among the employees in a Malaysian government-linked company

Background. A high quality of work life (QWL) is a crucial issue for health care facilities to have qualified, dedicated, and inspired employees. Among different specialties in health care settings, nurses have a major share among other health care providers. So, they should experience a better QWL to deliver high-quality holistic care to those who need help. Objective. To assess the level of quality of work life and its predictors among nurses working in Hawassa town public health facilities, South Ethiopia. Methods. A facility based cross-sectional study was conducted on 253 nurses of two hospitals and nine health centers. The total sample size was allocated to each facility based on the number of nurses in each facility. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire. The interitem consistency of the scale used to measure QWL had Cronbach’s alpha value of 0.86. A multinomial logistic regression model was fitted to identify significant predictors of quality of work life using SPSS version 20. Results. The study showed that 67.2% of the nurses were dissatisfied with the quality of their work life. We found that educational status, monthly income, working unit, and work environment were strong predictors of quality of work life among nurses (p<0.05). Conclusion. Significant proportions of the nurses were dissatisfied with the quality of their work life. The findings in this study and studies reported from elsewhere pinpoint that perception of nurses about the quality of their work life can be modified if health care managers are considerate of the key issues surrounding QWL.

ABSTRACT Objective: to analyze the association between occupational stress, quality of work life and associated factors among nursing workers. Method: 309 nursing workers of a public general hospital participated in this cross-sectional study. The Total Quality of Work Life and the Job Stress Scale instruments were used to evaluate the quality of work life and occupational stress, respectively. Results: associations were estimated using Poisson regression analysis combined with robust variance. We found association between dissatisfaction with quality of work life and smoking (PR=1.53; 95%CI: 1.02-2.31), work at the care units for highly dependent or critically ill patients (PR=2.47; 95%CI: 1.18-5.19), low social support at work (PR=1.76; 95%CI: 1.29-2.40) and the quadrants of the demand-control model "active job" (PR=1.74; 95%CI: 1.04-2.92) and "high-strain job" (PR=2.54; 95%CI: 1.51-4.27) . Conclusion: these results may help the hospital and nursing managers to develop and implement strategies in order to reduce excessive demands and work overload and increase social support among the nursing staff.
