Ecological aspects of storage and transportation of diesel fuels

The paper presents up-to-date and perspective requirements for the quality of diesel fuels. The effect of chemical, as well as fractional composition on the quality of diesel fuels is marked. The capability of obtaining prospective ecologically friendly diesel fuel based on the mixture of Azerbaijani oils via hydro-treatment in the presence of the catalyst of alumonickelmolibdene is noted. Ecologically friendly diesel fuels with ASTMD 4294 by sulfur - 0.039 % mass, ASTMD 3227 by sour sulfur - 0.006 % mass, ASTMD 5708 by metals: V ˃ 2 mg/kg, Ni ˃ 1 mg/kg, Fe ˃ 3 mg/kg, Na ˃ 8 mg/kg, as well as with the freezing temperature of ASTMD 97 – 50 оС have been obtained. Such kinds of diesel fuel meet EN standards and provide environmental safety in storage and transportation to the European countries. The prospect of obtaining and using buffer plug (mixture of petroleum products) during consistent pumping of various sorts of oil products without ecologic-economic risks of jet fuels is shown as well.

The Oil Refinery of Heydar Aliyev was created in July 1953 as a new oil refining plant Baki. The combined atmospheric vacuum plant is the main plant at the oil refining factory and its starting capacity produces 6 million tons of crude oil. In 2010, 43,000 tons A-98, 1.18 tons of A-92 and 19,700 tons of gasoline A-80. At the same time, 600 400t kerosene, 214,000 diesel fuels, 214,000 tons. Liquid gas, 267 500t coke and 220 600t. With this investigation, the history of the oil refinery and the details of modernization were considered. 21 out of 24 types of Azerbaijani oil are processed at the Baku Oil Refinery named after Heydar Aliyev, of which 15 types of oil products, including gasoline, aviation kerosene, diesel fuel, fuel oil, petroleum coke, etc. are produced. The plant fully meets the needs of the republic in oil products. In addition, 45% of oil products are exported to foreign countries. Key words: Azerbaijani, oil, recycling, factory, modernization

Macrophyte algae are perspective indicator species for assessing the environmental impact of pollutants. One of the ways to estimate the negative impact is to change the activity of enzymes of the antioxidant system. The possibility of using hydrogen peroxide, catalase and superoxide dismutase (SOD) is analyzed in the research for assessing the anthropogenic load on algae macrophytes of different systematic groups: Palmaria palmata (L.) O. Kuntze; Fucus vesiculosus L., Ulvaria obscura (Kützing) Gayral ex Bliding. The natural level of enzymes (in July) and its change under the influence of oil products (diesel fuel) on algae growing in the Barents sea were measured. It is shown that under natural conditions the content of hydrogen peroxide and catalase activity decrease in the series U. obscura < P. palmata < F. vesiculosus; the activity of SOD decreases in the series P. palmata < U. obscura < F. vesiculosus. When diesel fuel is introduced into the habitat of algae, the concentration of hydrogen peroxide in the cells of U. obscura and P. palmata decreases and in F. vesiculosus-increases. Catalase activity in P. palmata and U. obscura increases and catalase activity is not various in F. vesiculosus. The activity of SOD in the prototypes of G. obscura and P. palmata decreases and it remains unchanged in F. vesiculosus. It is shown that the enzyme complex Ulvaria obscura can be used to assess the impact of diesel fuel and only SOD can be used in P. palmata. No reaction of SOD and CAT to the presence of petroleum products was detected in F. vesiculosus.

The article substantiates a new method of localization and elimination of oil and oil products spills. This method is the most environmentally friendly of all existing ones, fast, high-quality, inexpensive, with a low degree of further spread of the spill and a high degree of complete elimination.

The article describes the dangerous consequences of petroleum products - the most dangerous pollutants of the aquatic environment, which disturb many natural processes and relationships, changing the habitat of aquatic organisms.A variety of sources contributes to the pollution of natural waters with various fractional composition of petroleum products. The complex studies of oil pollution of water bodies were carried out in the vicinities of Astrakhan in places of accidental oil spills in 2013-2015. Analysis of the study results confirmed the need to assess the extent of water pollution by hydrocarbons, not only in terms of the mass concentration of oil in the water, but also in biological parameters of the harmless concentration of the toxicant, because under equal levels of mass concentration oil contaminants with different fractional composition have different degree of toxic effects on living organisms. The heavy oil fractions of the oil products had the maximum effect on Daphnia magna Straus. The limit of harmless concentration of oil products dissolved in natural waters of the Serebryanaya Volozhka canal was 0.034-0.136 mg/dm3; the limit of harmless concentrations of oil products spilled on the water surface made 0.014 mg/dm3. This is 3.6 times less than maximum permissible coefficient of oil products in the water bodies of Russia (0.05 mg/dm3). Bioassay methods, along with the traditional analytical methods have to be used in a comprehensive study of oil pollution of the aquatic environment.
