Digital library is a collection of electronic objects. Information retrieval is a part of digital library system. Digital library can be developed through open source software and tools. Institutional digital repository is also an important field in present and next generation automated and digital library system. Now, this paper is present how to import metadata formats from different database by EPrints for the development of institutional digital repository. There are different types of metadata formats available in open source environment but this paper is shows some high and matured level software for development and designing this integrated framework. However, in this section has a show how to data import from Koha, Emerald, D-Space, and Vu-Find for the better management of digital information services among the users as well as library professionals.

Purpose This paper aims to provide an overview of the emergence of resource discovery systems and services along with their advantages and best practices including current landscapes. It reports the development of a resource discovery system by using the “VuFind” software and describes other technological tools, software, standards and protocols required for the development of the prototype. Design/methodology/approach This paper describes the process of integrating VuFind (resource discovery tool) with Koha (integrated library system), DSpace (repository software) and Apache Tika (as full-text extractor for full-text searching), etc. Findings The proposed model performs like other existing commercial and open source Web-scale resource discovery systems and is capable of harvesting resources from different subscribed or external sources replacing a library’s OPAC. Originality/value This discovery system is an important add-on to designing a one-stop access in place of the existing retrieval silos in libraries. This system is capable of indexing a variety of content within and beyond library collections. This work may help library professionals and administrators in designing their discovery system, as well as vendors to improve their products, to provide different library-friendly services.

The purpose of this write-up is to share the extent of the practice of discovery tools to explore e-resources at the Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) Library, by its faculty members, research scholars and students. This study is also aimed at investigating and sharing the technical procedure of implementing the discovery tool using open source software, i.e. VuFind. A number of popular open source discovery tools have been examined. A comparison has been made to adopt the most suitable one. This study pointed out that a discovery tool has been instituted first time in Bangladesh from the library professionals and university library perspective. The write-up also provided a total scenario and working process of the VuFind discovery tool which has almost all the advanced technologies of the next generation catalog. The study also found that VuFind may be a good tool for moderately technologically competent library professionals for managing their resources with minimum cost and efforts, having customizable code and unlimited instances.

For the characteristics of remote sensing satellite data, this paper adopts spatial information services of open source PostgreSQL database to analyze and calculate coverage of remote sensing data. The remote sensing data is shown in the Chinese administrative divisions intuitively in order to improve the efficiency in ordering the data. This paper addresses the method to calculate the coverage of remote sensing satellite data based on PostgreSQL.

This paper shows  the evolution of the web-scale resource discovery services in libraries along with different discovery software available both in commercial and open source domain. The paper discusses several discovery tools and identifies several key parameters on the  basis of which can compare the usability and accessibility of different discovery software. It will be identifies tools possibilities of applications of these interactive, collaborative and participative tools in enhancing existing library services and the feasibility of introducing next generation library services. Therefore, today all world look-over the newly made association which is library discovery system. Library discovery system make a software like 'VuFind' as open source software,  digital library software to distributed across the globe.

Information acts as a crucial factor in the development of individuals and community. Community information is the information which is required by every human being in their day-to-day life for problem solving and decision making. In this ‘information age’, public llibraries face severe challenges from ICT developments and changing user expectations. UNESCO Public Library Manifesto defines public library as the local centre of information which makes all kinds of knowledge and information readily available to its users. Being the local gateways of knowledge, it becomes the duty of the Public Libraries to collect organize and disseminate all local information to the community it belonged to. This study explores Community Information Services in Public libraries and proposes providing web based community information services using Koha open source library system.
