An increasing challenge for agriculture in times of climate change is to sustainably ensure or increase the yield capacity of crop production. Low-yielding sites are particularly at risk in this respect. One strategy to counteract is to promote the use of the subsoil. This article describes the technical procedure and development of an implement for stripe-wise subsoil melioration with application of compost in a layer of 30–60 cm. These stripes are each 30 cm wide and 70 cm apart. A technology has been developed for process, which allows the described procedure to be used over a large area. The melioration is carried out in one pass by an implement in an arrangement of 3 rows resulting in a working width of 3 m. A hopper on top of the implements frame includes an embedded hydraulic system to feed compost into the injection coulter. Results from 4-year field trials with standard crop rotations verify yield increases of up to 20% still 5 years after melioration. An overview of these trials and results will also be presented.

The economic, financial and sports performances of Brazilian football clubs may be related. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the relationship between the economic-financial and sporting performances of Brazilian football clubs, in the years 2015 to 2019. The methodology regarding the problem is quantitative, as for the objectives is descriptive and has as its objective technical procedure to documentary research. Data were collected from the transparency portal of the 30 clubs that participated, at least once, in Series A, of the Brazilian Championship (CBF), in the defined period. After collecting the financial statements, the data were tabulated and analyzed statistically by means of correlation. The results show that clubs with better positioning in the CBF ranking have, in general, total assets and revenues higher than the other teams. In addition, there was a high percentage of indebtedness in football clubs, and the return on assets, in most of the sample, showed negative indicators. Thus, it is concluded that larger clubs (size), with high revenue generation and better positioned in the ranking tend to have a higher level of financial and sporting performance in their management.

This communication presents an educational experience with pre-universitary students consisting of the creation of a video game in the classroom through the computer application "Scratch". From a qualitative approach, a measure of pair documents similarity PDMS through Kendall Tau distance is applied in order to analyze students´ perception with regard to the implementation of this resource based on block programming. The results show that the most relevant positive aspects are: the increase of support between colleagues and group work, as well as the resolution of doubts. Aspects to be improved or less positive are related to its repetitive nature in the technical procedure and its reduced application in real life. Additionally, the students perceive limitations as its development is mostly constrained to tablets and smartphones, excluding mobile phones from the process. Finally, with regard to its didactic features, benefits for students in relation to their motivation towards study and greater interactivity in the work in the classroom are perceived.

Zebrafish embryos (ZFE) have increasingly gained in popularity as a model to perform safety screenings of compounds. Although immersion of ZFE is the main route of exposure used, evidence shows that not all small molecules are equally absorbed, possibly resulting in false-negative readouts and incorrect conclusions. In this study, we compared the pharmacokinetics of seven fluorescent compounds with known physicochemical properties that were administered to two-cell stage embryos by immersion or by IY microinjection. Absorption and distribution of the dyes were followed at various timepoints up to 120 hpf by spatiotemporal fluorescence imaging. The concentration (10 µM) and dose (2 mg/kg) used were selected as quantities typically applied in preclinical experiments and zebrafish studies. The data show that in the case of a lipophilic compound (log D: 1.73) the immersion procedure resulted in an intrabody exposure which is similar or higher than that seen after the IY microinjection. In contrast, zero to low intrabody exposure was reached after immersion of the embryos with less lipophilic compounds. In the latter case IY microinjection, a technical procedure that can be easily automated, is highly recommended.

BackgroundThere is little consensus on endovascular treatment for symptomatic intracranial posterior circulation stenosis via the transradial approach (TRA). We report our multicenter experience and technical procedures that directly used a distal access catheter (DAC) via TRA for the treatment of symptomatic intracranial vertebral (VA) and basilar (BA) artery stenosis.MethodsFrom January 2019 to December 2020, 92 consecutive patients with severe symptomatic intracranial VA or BA stenosis were retrospectively collected and divided into two groups (TRA group and transfemoral approach (TFA) group) for neurointerventional treatment. The percentages of catheters reaching the V3/V4 segment of the VA and technical success, postoperative care conditions, preoperative outcomes and complications, long term clinical outcomes, and imaging follow-ups were observed.ResultsThe catheter, CAT 5, reached the V4 segment of the VA in 37 TRA patients (88.1%). The duration of the procedure was significantly shorter in the TRA group than in the TFA group (median 48.0 min vs 55.5 min, p=0.037). More patients in the TRA group could walk within 2 hours after the procedure (85.7% vs 10.0%, p=0.000), and the duration of retaining catheterization in the TRA group was shorter (3.0±1.2 hours vs 11.7±5.6 hours, p=0.000).ConclusionThis study demonstrates the potential feasibility and safety of using a DAC via the TRA without guiding support for the treatment of symptomatic intracranial VA and BA stenosis. The TRA demonstrated some advantages over the standard TFA in terms of patient comfort. Further randomized controlled trials comparing the TRA and TFA for posterior circulation stenosis are needed.
