BACKGROUND: Diabetes mellitus is chronic diseases with serious complications and reduces the quality of life of patients. Evidence based strategies to enhance diabetes self-management may prevent complications and enhance the quality of life for patients is needed. AIM: This study to summarize the types of intervention strategies used to enhance diabetes self-management behaviors in adult individuals type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). METHOD: This study was used Literature review randomized controlled trials study. PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library data base were used. Jadad scale checklist was used to evaluate quality appraisal included in the study. RESULTS: Twenty-six randomized controlled trials studies were included in this review. Overall, quality of the studies was high-quality. Varied interventions included studies at different countries were found to enhance diabetes self-management behaviors in T2DM patients. In addition, almost type interventions were reported a significant enhancement diabetes self-management behaviors especially in adults with type 2 diabetes patients. CONCLUSION: Varied self-management behavior interventions in diabetes mellitus. This review suggested for investigate best intervention to enhance diabetes self-management behaviors in different cultural for best outcomes.

Objective: Personal health coaching (PHC) programs have become increasingly utilized as a type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) self-management intervention strategy. This article evaluates the impact of PHC programs on glycemic management and related psychological outcomes. Data Sources: Electronic databases (CINAHL, MEDLINE, PubMed, PsycINFO, and Web of Science). Study Inclusion and Exclusion Criteria: Randomized controlled trials (RCT) published between January 1990 and September 2017 and focused on the effectiveness of PHC interventions in adults with T2DM. Data Extraction: Using prespecified format guided by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses framework. Data Synthesis: Quantitative synthesis for primary (ie, hemoglobin A1c [HbA1c]) and qualitative synthesis for selected psychological outcomes. Results: Meta-analyses of 22 selected publications showed PHC interventions favorably impact HbA1c levels in studies with follow-ups at ≤3 months (−0.32% [95% confidence interval, CI = −0.55 to −0.09%]), 4 to 6 months (−0.50% [95% CI = −0.65 to −0.35%], 7 to 9 months (−0.66% [95% CI = −1.04 to −0.28%]), and 12 to 18 months (−0.24% [95% CI = −0.38 to −0.10%]). Subsequent subgroup analyses led to no conclusive patterns, except for greater magnitude of effect size in studies with conventional (2-arm) RCT design. Conclusions: The PHC appears effective in improving glycemic control. Further research is required to assess the effectiveness of specific program components, training, and supervision approaches and to determine the cost-effectiveness of PHC interventions.

Abstract Objective: Elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus are highly vulnerable due to serious complications. Thus far, there is little research on the relationship between social support and quality of life, which warrants further exploration of the internal mechanism. This study assessed quality of life and its interfering factors in this patient population.Methods: In total, 571 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus over 60 years old were recruited from two community clinics in Heilongjiang province, China. We collected data on health status, quality of life, self-management behavior, fasting plasma glucose (FPG) level, and social support. Structural equation modeling and the bootstrap method were used to analyze the data. Results: The average quality of life score was -29.25 ± 24.41. Poorly scored domains of quality of life were “Psychological feeling” (-8.67), “Activity” (-6.36), and “Emotion” (-6.12). Of the 571 patients, 65.32% had normal FPG, 9.8% had high-risk FPG, 15.94% had good self-management behavior, and 22.07% had poor social support. Significant correlations among social support, self-management behavior, FPG level, and quality of life were noted. A multiple mediator model revealed that social support influenced quality of life in three ways: (i) directly (c´ = 0.6549); (ii) indirectly through self-management behavior (a1*b1 = 0.2596); and (iii) indirectly through FPG control (a2*b2 = 0.2825). Self-management behavior influenced quality of life directly and indirectly through FPG control. Conclusion: Improving self-management behavior and monitoring hypoglycemia should become priority targets for future intervention. Scheduled social support to self-management projects should be put into the standardized management procedure. Physicians should provide substantial and individualized support to elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus regarding medication, blood glucose monitoring, and physical exercise.

Abstract BackgroundType 2 diabetes mellitus is intimately linked to chronic stress. Meditation programs belong to mind-body therapies, which could benefit patients’ disease management. Though some clinical trials have proved that meditation programs have the ability to improve level of blood glucose, quality of life, body mass index and blood indexes related to metabolism in individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus, the efficacy of meditation programs needs further confirmation. Thus, we will conduct this systematic evaluation and meta-analysis to summarize and analyze all the results included to obtain reliable evidence.MethodWe will search several English and Chinese databases for relevant clinical trials published up to July 2021, and randomized controlled trials or controlled trials among adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus are included. Two reviewers will extract data and assess the quality of included studies independently. The main outcomes of this research are glycosylated hemoglobin level and fasting blood glucose level. The secondary outcomes are high-density lipoprotein, low-density lipoprotein, body mass index, remission of depression and anxiety, and quality of life. Stata v.14.0 and Review Manager V5.3 will be used to synthesize and analyze all data included.DiscussionThis systematic review is the first to analyze the efficacy of different types of meditation for type 2 diabetes mellitus, which could provide evidence for the use of mediation programs as non-drug approaches. Lack of enough randomized controlled trials is the main limitation of this protocol. Diabetes mellitus is a major health challenge associated with morbidity and mortality. Self-management behaviors are a critical part of diabetes disease management. Empowered or activated patients are more likely to practice better implementation of self-management behaviors. However, self-management behavior practice has not always been applied effectively among these populations. Further investigations are necessary to evaluate the status and factors that influence the practice of selfmanagement behaviors among patients with diabetes. The purpose of this research is to identify the relationship between self-efficacy and self-management behaviors of people with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. A cross-sectional research design was used in this study; 112 eligible people with type 2 Diabetes were recruited. Several questionnaires were used in this study including demographic and patient characteristics, Diabetes Management Self Efficacy Scale (DMSES), Summary Diabetes Self Care Activity (SDSCA), and Diabetes Knowledge (DKN) Scale. Data analysis was performed through univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyzes. Most of the respondents studied were women, aged 34-74 years and the highest educational background was secondary education, 33.9% of respondents have a good level of knowledge, and 59.8% have good self-efficacy. The results show the significant relationship between self-efficacy and self-management behaviors (p-value < 0.001). The results of multivariate analysis showed that there was a relationship between self-efficacy and self-management behavior after being controlled by the knowledge and the duration of diabetes. Therefore, nurses need to improve the self-efficacy of people with type 2 Diabetes by providing education about the management of Diabetes, as well as supporting and motivating them.   Keywords: self-efficacy, self-management behaviors, people with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
