The pollination ecology of Plectranthus neochilus Schltr. is discussed and compared with that of another garden plant,  Plectranthus barbatus Andr.. Pollinators and flower visitors of P. neochilus include members of  the Megachilidae, Anthophoridae, Syrphidae, Bombyliidae, Sphingidae, Apidae.

This work aimed to study the pollination ecology of the tropical weed Triumfetta semitriloba Jacq. (Tiliaceae), in Viçosa, South-eastern Brazil, during the flowering season of 1993 and 1994. Two patches located in pasture (P1 and P2) and one patch in a forest trail (P3) were chosen and ten plants on each patch were sorted. The number of opened flowers were counted during one day, in each flowering month and patch. All observed flower visitors were identified and their behavior while visiting flowers was recorded. Frequency of visits to flowered branches was obtained and some pollinator individuals were captured for analysis of pollen load. Flowers are conspicuously yellow and actinomorphic, with five nectaries around the ovary base, and opened sequentially in the afternoon. Flower phenology followed a modified steady-state Gentry's pattern. The number of opened flowers was higher in P2, but differences between months were not homogeneous between patches. Considering behaviour when collecting pollen or nectar, which permitted impregnation of stigma with pollen, visiting frequency and percent of T. semitriloba pollen on pollen load (100% for all of them, except for Augochlorella michaelis which was 81%) the following species were the mainly pollinators: Augochloropsis cupreola, Augochlorella michaelis, Cressomiella aff. sussurans, Cressomiella sussurans, Cressomiella sp., Pseudocentron paulistana, Ceratinula sp1, Ceratinula sp2 and Ceratinula sp3, Melissodes sexcincta, Apis mellifera, Plebeia cf. nigriceps, Plebeia droryana. Frequency of pollinators visitation was not different between patches and not uniform during anthesis. There was a higher pollinator activity between 15:00 and 17:00 hr.

We review the pollination ecology of acacias worldwide, discussing (1) the rewards provided to flower visitors, (2) the temporal patterns of flowering and reward provision and (3) the taxonomic composition of flower visitors assemblages. The flowers of most acacias (including all members of the subgenus Phyllodineae) offer only pollen to flower visitors and floral nectar is limited to a minority of species in the subgenera Acacia and Aculeiferum. The most important pollinators of acacias are social and solitary bees, although other insects and nectar-feeding birds are important in specific cases. Acacias that secrete nectar attract far more species-rich assemblages of flower visitors, although many of these are probably not important as pollinators. Most acacias in the subgenus Phyllodineae have long-lived protogynous flowers, without clear daily patterns in reward provision and visitation. In contrast, most members of the other two subgenera have flowers that last for a single day, appear to be protandrous and have clear daily patterning in reward provision and visitation. The generality of these patterns should not be assumed until the pollination ecology of many more phyllodinous acacias has been studied, particularly in arid environments. The accessibility of the floral rewards in acacia flowers makes them important examples of two general issues in plant communities—the partitioning of shared pollinators and the evolution of floral ant repellents.

Vegetasi mangrove merupakan salah satu bagian penting dalam kehidupan masyarakat Papua. Penelitian dilakukan dengan observasi lapangan dan telah pustaka. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui vegetasi mangrove yang dipergunakan sebagai bahan makanan pada empat suku yang ada di Papua Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat 7 jenis dari 3 suku vegetasi mangrove yang dimanfaatkan sebagai makanan. Ke-7 jenis tersebut :Bruguiera gymnorrhiza Lam, Ceriops tagal B.Rob, Nypa fruticans Wurmb, Bruquiera parviflora, Rhizopora apiculata, Sonneratia alba J.Sm, dan Sonneratia avota dari 3 suku Rhizophoraceae, Sonneratiaceae, Arecaceae. Kegunaan vegetasi mangrove sebagai bahan makanan di antaranya: sebagai makanan pokok, rujakan, pengganti pinang, pengganti kelapa, penambah rasa, dan minuman.
