The DNA-barcoding and chromosomal study of the eastern water bat, Myotis petax Hollister, 1912, from the earlier unexplored localities in the Russian Far East are carried out. The COI barcoding obtained for 18 from a total of 19 individuals captured in five localities in the Russian Far East showed the low nucleotide variability with the prevalence of the central, the most abundant haplotype. The chromosomal characteristics of eight M. petax specimens (2n = 44, NFa = 52) in the Russian Far East are clarified. The number and localization of NOR in karyotype of M. petax is described at the first time and differ from distributional patterns of NOR in the sibling species M. daubentonii Kuhl, 1819 that can be used as diagnostic feature. The considerable intraspecific variability in the distribution of heterochromatin material revealed is not typical of the genus Myotis, but it has been found in other species of the family Vespertilionidae.

The family Diplomaragnidae Attems, 1907 of the Asian part of Russia is reviewed and shown to comprise 11 genera and 60 species + 1 dubious species. Two genera and seven species are described here as new to science: Alineuma gen. nov., with type species A. rodionovi sp. nov. and Litovkia gen. nov., with the type species L. anisimovka sp. nov., Diplomaragna budilovi sp. nov., Diplomaragna dentifer sp. nov., Pacifiosoma shabalini sp. nov., Pacifiosoma acutum sp. nov., Pacifiosoma triangulatum sp. nov. Pacifiosoma asperum Mikhaljova, 2016 is recorded from the Primorsky Krai for the first time. Five genera are endemic to the Asian part of Russia. At the species level, the rate of endemism amounts to 91.7%. A key is given to all species of Diplomaragnidae presently known from Siberia and the Russian Far East. The distributions of the region’s diplomaragnids are discussed. Taxonomic remarks are provided for many species.

The family Micronoctuidae and the genus Micronoctua Fibiger, 1997 are reported from the Russian Far East and neighbouring countries for the first time. The family is represented in the region by two species in the genera Mimachrostia Sugi, 1982 and Micronoctua both occurring in Russian Far East, Korea, China and Japan. The northern distribution limit of the family Micronoctuidae is the middle of the Amur River (50°31΄N, 137°035΄E), reached by Mimachrostia fasciata Sugi, 1982. The new species, Micronoctua occi, sp. n. is described from Russian Far East, the Korean peninsula, China and the Tsushima Islands of Japan. The male and female genitalia are illustrated and compared with those of Micronoctua karsholti. Distribution maps for the two species are presented.

The present study is based on a random set of previously unstudied oribatid mites of the family Damaeidae, which were collected from the Russian Far East in 1987–2019. Based on the above material, we have identified 22 species and 12 genera from 28 localities. Of these, the genus Weigmannia and the species Epidamaeus craigheadi and Weigmannia parki have been recorded from the Palaearctic region for the first time. In addition, the genera Acanthobelba and Dyobelba, as well as the species Acanthobelba heterosetosa, Dyobelba biclavata, Damaeus maximus, D. striatus, and Epidamaeus variabilis, have been recorded from Russia (Far East) for the first time. The species Epidamaeus puritanicus has the highest occurrence across different biotopes.

The Russian Far East (RFE) is an important hotspot of biodiversity whose insect fauna remains understudied, particularly its Microlepidoptera. Here we explore the diversity of leaf-mining micromoths of the family Gracillariidae, their distribution and host plant associations in RFE using a combination of field observations and sampling, DNA barcoding, morphological analysis and literature review.                We collected 91 gracillariid specimens (45 larvae, 9 pupae and 37 adults) in 12 localities across RFE and identified 34 species using a combination of DNA barcoding and morphology. We provide a genetic library of 57 DNA barcodes belonging to 37 Barcode Index Numbers (BINs), including four BINs that could potentially represent species new to science. Leaf mines and leaf shelters are described and illustrated for 32 studied species, male or female genitalia as well as forewing patterns of adults are shown, especially for those species identified based on morphology.                Three species, Micrurapteryx caraganella (Hering), Callisto insperatella (Nickerl), and Phyllonorycter junoniella (Zeller) are newly recorded from RFE. Five species previously known from some regions of RFE, were found for the first time in Amurskaya Oblast: Phyllonorycter populifoliella (Treitschke), Primorskii Krai: Ph. sorbicola Kumata and Sahkalin Island: Caloptilia heringi Kumata, Ph. ermani (Kumata) and Ph. ulmifoliella (Hübner). Eight gracillariid–plant associations are novel to science: Caloptilia gloriosa Kumata on Acer pseudosieboldianum, Cameraria niphonica Kumata on A. caudatum subsp. ukurundense, Parornix ermolaevi Kuznetzov on Corylus sieboldiana, Phyllonorycter ermani (Kumata) on Betula platyphylla, Ph. nipponicella (Issiki) on Quercus mongolica, Ph. orientalis (Kumata) and Ph. pseudojezoniella Noreika on Acer saccharum, Ph. sorbicola on Prunus maakii. For the first time we documented the “green island” phenotype on Phyllonorycter cavella (Zeller) mines on Betula platyphylla.                Two pestiferous species have been recorded during our surveys: Micrurapteryx caraganella on ornamental Caragana arborescens in urban plantations in Amurskaya Oblast, and the lime leafminer Phyllonorycter issikii (Kumata), a species known to be native to RFE and invasive elsewhere in Russia and in European countries.                A revised checklist of RFE gracillariids has been compiled. It accounts for 135 species among which 17 species (13%) are only known to occur in RFE. The gracillariid fauna of RFE is more similar to the Japanese fauna (49%), than to the fauna of the rest of Russia (i.e European part and Siberia) (32%).

A review of species of the genus Mokrzeckia Mokrzecki, 1934 from the Russian Far East is provided. Mokrzeckia lazoensis sp. nov. is described. M. abietis Kamijo, 1982 is recorded for the first time for Russia, and M. pini (Hartig, 1838) for the Russian Far East. A key to six known species of Mokrzeckia is provided.

The insect fauna of Mongolia includes about 12,000 species belonging to 24 orders. The only order, Orthoptera, is richer in species in Mongolia than in the Far East of Russia. All other units show greater diversity in the Russian Far East than in Mongolia. There are a significant number of very interesting endemics. Tizanuras of the family Machilidae are relic insects, represented by five species in Mongolia. As examples of widespread Central Asian insects, a number of species of darkling beetles and weevils can be indicated, most of which are endemic to Mongolia or Central Asia.

The nasocorine plant bug genus Campylomma Reuter from Japan and neighboring regions is reviewed. Twelve species are currently recognized. Several species, which have pale basic coloration, are rediagnosed, with emphasis on the male and female genitalia as significant taxonomic characters. Two new species, C. fukagawai and C. tanakakiana, are described and figured, and C. marjorae Schuh is reported from Japan for the first time and diagnosed. The females of three taxonomically confused species, C. eurycephala Yasunaga, C. livida Reuter and C. lividicornis Reuter, are documented in detail and figured for the first time. Female specimens of the most frequently encountered congeners, C. lividicornis Reuter and C. livida Reuter, can now be unequivocally identified. Confidently associated final-instar immatures are figured for C. aterrima Yasunaga and C. livida Reuter. Confirmed host plant associations are reported for most treated species. Campylomma chinensis [= chinense] Schuh is proposed as a junior synonym of C. livida Reuter, and C. chichijima Carvalho is regarded as nomen dubium. A checklist and a key to species are provided, which are applicable to the faunas of Japan, and of Korea, NE China the Russian Far East and Taiwan as well.

Twenty species of Orthoptera in 19 genera and four families are recorded from the Komsomolsky Nature Reserve for the first time and only four species in two families are found in the wildlife preserve «Udyl». The species riches of Orthoptera recorded from the natural reserves in the Amur Region of the Russian Far East are compared. Number of species in Komsomolsky and Bastak reserves is almost the same (15–20 species), while 51 species of Orthoptera are known from Khingansky Reserve.
