In this study a new record of Ganodermatropicum is described as from Chiang Rai Province, Thailand. The fruiting body was collected on the base of a living Dipterocarpus tree. The sample is described on the basis of morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analyses, and compared with closely related taxa. Multigene phylogenetic analyses of LSU, ITS, and RPB2 highly support the placement of the G.tropicum group with isolates from China and Taiwan (Maximum likelihood 100%, Maximum parsimony 100%, and Bayesian posterior probabilities 1.00). The optimal media, pH, and temperature for mycelial growth of the G.tropicum strain KUMCC18-0046 was also investigated and is reported as: PDA, MEA, and YPD, at pH 7–8 and 25–28 °C, respectively. This is the first report on the successful growing conditions for mycelial production, but unfortunately fruiting could not be achieved.

In this paper, two new species in Hyphodontia, H. bubalina and H. mongolica, are reported as new to science based on morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analyses. Detailed descriptions and illustrations are provided with comparisons among allied taxa. Hyphodontia bubalina has thin cream basidiomata, a monomitic hyphal system with thin- to slightly thick-walled generative hyphae, hyphoid or subulate cystidioles, ellipsoid to subglobose basidiospores measuring as 4–5.3 × 3–4.2 µm. Hyphodontia mongolica is characterized by the partly confluent or branched aculei, a monomitic hyphal system with thick-walled generative hyphae, clavate and tubular cystidia, and ellipsoid basidiospores measuring as 4.9–6.6 × 2.5–3.2 µm. Phylogenetic analyses based on the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions which performed by Bayesian (BI), maximum likelihood (ML) and maximum parsimony (MP) methods confirm to place the two species in the genus Hyphodontia.

AbstractThe systematic position of Campydora Cobb, 1920, which possesses many unique morphological features, especially in pharyngeal structure and stomatal armature, has long been a matter of uncertainty with the 'position of the Campydorinae' (containing only Campydora) being questionable. A review of the morphology of C. demonstrans, the only nominal species of Campydora concluded that the species warranted placement as the sole member of a monotypic suborder, Campydorina, in the order Dorylaimida. Others placed Campydorina in the order Enoplida. We conducted phylogenetic analyses, using 18s small subunit ribosomal DNA sequences generated from a number of taxa in the subclasses Enoplia and Dorylaimia, to evaluate these competing hypotheses. Although precise taxonomic placement of the genus Campydora and the identity of its closest living relatives is in need of further investigation, our analyses, under maximum parsimony, distance, and maximum likelihood criteria, unambiguously indicate that Campydora shares a common, more recent, ancestry with genera such as Alaimus, Pontonema, Tripyla and Ironus (Enoplida), rather than with any members of Dorylaimida, Mononchida or Triplonchida.

Agaricus is a species-rich genus with more than 500 species over the world. Recent studies on tropical Agaricus revealed new tropical clades and a revised taxonomic system was consequently developed. Agaricus subg. Minoriopsis, a sixth subgenus was recently added, comprising species exclusively from the Americas. The diversity of Agaricus is little studied in Mexico, despite this country has a long history in the consumption of wild edible fungi. In this paper, we introduce a new species A. guzmanii and a new record for A. globocystidiatus from Mexico based on morphological characteristics and molecular data. Phylogenetic analyses indicate that they belong to A. subg. Minoriopsis.

The systematic position of Paraixeris humifusa (Asteraceae) is hard to define, because the circumscription of Paraixeris, Youngia and Crepidiastrum, three closely related genera in subtribe Crepidinae (Cichorieae), is not clear. This paper reports on the relationships between 30 species in subtribe Crepidinae, based on an analysis of nucleotides from one nuclear (ITS) and three chloroplast DNA regions ( trnL-F, rps16 and atpB-rbcL). The phylogenetic analyses used maximum parsimony with maximum likelihood inference. The monophyly of Crepidiastrum in the most recent generic classification of Shih & Kilian (2011) is explored. The results show that 12 species in Crepidiastrum constitute a monophyletic group, and that Paraixeris humifusa should be treated as Youngia humifusa.

A new wood-inhabiting fungal species, Gloeodontia yunnanensis, is proposed based on a combination of morphological features and DNA data. The species is characterized by an annual, resupinate basidiomata with smooth hymenial surface, a monomitic hyphal system with thin-walled, clamped generative hyphae and obclavate cystidia and subglobose to globose, hyaline, thick-walled, asperulate, strongly amyloid, acyanophilous basidiospores measuring 3.3–4.3 × 2.5–3.5 µm. Sequences of ITS and 28S gene regions of the studied samples were generated and phylogenetic analyses were performed with Maximum Likelihood, Maximum Parsimony and Bayesian Inference methods. The analyses based on ITS+28S sequences showed that G. yunnanensis nested in the Gloeodontia clade and formed a monophyletic lineage with strong support (100% BS, 100% BP, 1.00 BPP).

The systematic position of Pterogonidium pulchellum (W.J. Hooker) Muell. Hal. in the Sematophyllaceae and Piloecium pseudorufescens (Hampe) Muell. Hal. in the Myuriaceae is reexamined with new evidence derived from rbcL gene sequences. A total of 18 taxa from Sematophyllaceae, Hypnaceae, Myuriaceae, and Hookeriaceae were included, 11 of which were newly sequenced for the rbcL gene. Analyses were done using maximum parsimony, maximum likelihood (TrN + Γ + I model and GTR + Γ + I model), and Bayesian inference (GTR + Γ + I model). The results show that Pterogonidium pulchellum has a closer relationship with members of Hypnaceae than with Sematophyllaceae, while Piloecium pseudorufescens forms a clade with the Sematophyllaceae in all phylogenetic analyses, with robust branch support. Two SOWH tests were carried out and the results show that it is not appropriate to classify Pterogonidium pulchellum in Sematophyllaceae and it is also not appropriate to classify Piloecium pseudorufescens in Myuriaceae.

Abstract The Chinese Panorpa species without anal horn are normally assigned to the Panorpa davidi group. Here, we taxonomically revise the P. davidi group, which currently includes 17 known species and four new species: P. gaokaii sp. nov., P. huayuani sp. nov., P. uncinata sp. nov. and P. yaoluopingensis sp. nov. Panorpa shanyangensis Chou & Wang, 1981 and P. sexspinosa zhongnanensis Chou & Ran, 1981 are treated as junior synonyms of P. sexspinosa Cheng, 1949. We describe for the first time the male of P. stigmosa Zhou, 2006, and the females of P. curva Carpenter, 1938, P. davidi Navás, 1908, P. difficilis Carpenter, 1938, P. fructa Cheng, 1949, and P. jinchuana Hua, Sun & Li, 2001. A key to species of the group is provided. Phylogenetic analyses of maximum parsimony and maximum likelihood based on 79 morphological characters show that the newly defined P. davidi group is a well-supported monophyletic group and is sister to the genus Cerapanorpa Gao, Ma & Hua, 2016.

Wood-inhabiting fungi play a significant role in wood degradation and the cycle of matter in the ecological system. In the present study, three new wood-inhabiting fungal species, Trechispora bambusicola, Trechispora fimbriata, and Trechispora fissurata spp. nov., are nested in Trechispora, which are proposed based on a combination of morphological features and molecular evidence. Sequences of internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and large subunit (nLSU) regions of the studied samples were generated, and the phylogenetic analyses were performed with maximum likelihood, maximum parsimony, and Bayesian inference methods. The phylogenetic analyses inferred from ITS showed that T. bambusicola was sister to Trechispora stevensonii, T. fimbriata grouped with Trechispora nivea, and T. fissurata grouped with Trechispora echinospora. The phylogenetic tree based on ITS + nLSU sequences demonstrated that T. bambusicola formed a single lineage and then grouped with Trechispora rigida and T. stevensonii. T. fimbriata was sister to T. nivea. T. fissurata grouped with Trechispora thelephora.

The genus Lamproconium comprises species that are endophytes, saprobes and pathogens on a wide variety of plants. This genus is currently placed in Diaporthales genera incertae sedis. Fresh specimens of Lamproconium were collected in Russia and studied to provide morphological and phylogenetic data. Phylogenetic analyses of single spore isolates generated from maximum likelihood, maximum parsimony and Bayesian inference analyses using combined ITS and LSU sequence data, place L. desmazieri in the order Diaporthales. Melanconis desmazieri is synonymized under Lamproconium desmazieri, and Lamproconiaceae is introduced as a new family to accommodate L. desmazieri and Hercospora tiliae, based on morphology and phylogenetic analyses.

Heterobasidion amyloideopsis sp. nov., a new poroid wood-inhabiting species from Pakistan, is introduced based on a combination of molecular evidence and morphological characteristics. We generated sequences from the nuclear internal transcribed spacer regions (ITS) and the large subunit ribosomal RNA gene (LSU), the gene encoding the largest subunit of RNA polymerase II (RPB1) and the second subunit of RNA polymerase II (RPB2), focusing on two specimens from Pakistan. We performed phylogenetic analyses with maximum likelihood, maximum parsimony, and bayesian inference methods on two datasets (RPB1+RPB2 and ITS+nLSU+RPB1+RPB2). Both analyses supported the existence of the new species and showed that it formed a monophyletic group within the H. insulare complex as a sister to H. amyloideum. In addition to assessing the origin and divergence of this new species, we focused on the RPB1+RPB2 dataset to perform maximum likelihood based estimation and Bayesian binary analyses. Heterobasidion amyloideopsis is characterized by an annual habit, pileate basidiomata with a rust colored pileal surface, white, obtuse margin, a dimitic hyphal system with simple septate generative hyphae in the trama and clamp connections present on the contextual hyphae, amyloid skeletal hyphae and broadly ellipsoid, hyaline, fairly thick-walled, and asperulate basidiospores.
