In accordance with the previous reduction of the remaining genera of subfamily Magnolioideae (Magnoliaceae) into the genus Magnolia, twenty-six new nomenclatural combinations are formally made by transferring to Magnolia some additional Chinese and Vietnamese taxa from the segregate genera of Manglietia, Michelia and Yulania. The following nine new combinations are created from Manglietia, namely Magnolia admirabilis, M. albistaminea, M. guangnanica, M. jinggangshanensis, M. maguanica, M. pubipedunculata, M. pubipetala, M. rufisyncarpa and M. sinoconifera. Also, twelve new combinations are created from Michelia, namely Magnolia caloptila, M. caudata, M. fallax, M. gelida, M. hunanensis, M. maudiae var. rubicunda, M. multitepala, M. platypetala, M. rubriflora, M. septipetala, M. sonlaensis, M. xinningia. Finally, five new combinations are created from Yulania, namely Magnolia baotaina, M. pendula, M. pilocarpa var. ellipticifolia, M. puberula and M. urceolata.

This paper presents new nomenclatural combinations in Brazilian Lycopodiaceae, necessary for an upcoming conspectus of the family: there are 39 new combinations in the genus Phlegmariurus, and one in Pseudolycopodiella. Two taxa, formerly treated as varieties of Lycopodiella alopecuroides, are raised to status of species.

In this contribution the following new nomenclatural combinations for the natural hybrid taxa of Oeosporangium (Pteridaceae: Cheilanthoideae) occurring in the western Mediterranean basin and Canary Islands are proposed: Oeosporangium × ibericum (Rasbach & Reichst.) Arana & Moreno-Saiz, Oeosporangium × insulare (Rasbach & Reichst.) Arana & Moreno-Saiz, Oeosporangium × malacitense (Rasbach & Reichst.) Arana & Moreno-Saiz, Oeosporangium × marchettianum (Rasbach, Reichst. & Schneller) Arana & Moreno-Saiz, Oeosporangium × prototinaei (Rasbach, Reichst. & Schneller) Arana & Moreno-Saiz, Oeosporangium × teneriffae (Rasbach & Reichst.) Arana & Moreno-Saiz and Oeosporangium × tolocense (Rasbach, Reichst. & Schneller) Arana & Moreno-Saiz. Also the name Oeosporangium pulchellum is lectotypified.

Taxonomy and nomenclature of several taxa related to Oxybasis glauca (≡ Chenopodium glaucum, Chenopodiaceae) are discussed. New nomenclatural combinations, i.e. O. ambigua (≡ C. ambiguum), O. amurensis (≡ C. amurense), and O. parodii (≡ C. parodii), are validated for three species native to Australasia (mainly Australia and New Zealand), East Asia (Russian Far East), and South America (Argentina), respectively. Information on type specimens is updated; in particular, it is demonstrated that the name Blitum rubrum var. hypoleucum was applied by Spegazzini to two species now recognized as O. parodii and O. macrosperma, but its newly designated lectotype belongs to O. parodii. It is concluded that the worldwide diversity of the O. glauca aggregate remains underestimated and further integral studies are needed for revealing taxonomic and geographic patterns in the group, and for reflecting them in updated taxonomy.

Phlegmariurusvanuatuensis A.R.Field is described as a new species for plants endemic to the islands of Vanuatu that were previously identified with P.nummulariifolius (Blume) Ching. The Vanuatuan species differs from the widespread Asian-Oceanian species in several characteristics, most notably its acutely divergent leaf arrangement and thicker less branched fertile spikes. Phlegmariurusnummulariifolius is here re-circumscribed as plants occurring in Asia and into Oceania as far east as the Solomon Islands, being replaced eastwards by P.vanuatuensis. In addition, new nomenclatural combinations are made for Phlegmariurusaustralis, a species from Polynesia and for Phlegmariuruscopelandianus, a species from Malesia.

New taxonomic names and combinations are proposed for the genus Plectocephalus (Asteraceae) in Chile, which has traditionally been included within Centaurea s.l. Based on morphology and geographical distribution, new nomenclatural combinations for seven taxa and eleven new synonyms are given as well as complete descriptions of two species.

Two new araphid diatom (Bacillariophyta) species, Pseudostaurosira oliveraiana sp. nov. and Staurosira catamarcensis sp. nov. are described from fossil material taken from the saline Laguna Colorada (Argentinian Altiplano). The morphology of the new species is studied using both light (LM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and is compared to that of similar taxa. Pseudostaurosira oliveraiana sp. nov. is different from other species of Pseudostaurosira by its linear to lanceolate valve outline, with apices usually subcapitate and cuneate. Staurosira catamarcensis sp. nov. is unique because it has short striae that are restricted to the valve margins, delimiting a wide and lanceolate sternum, which resembles some species of Pseudostaurosira. Also, it is the first species described in Staurosira lacking apical pore fields, expanding the high morphological variation that already exists within this genus. Additionally, two new combinations are proposed: Pseudostaurosira santaremensis comb. nov. and Staurosirella canariensis comb. nov. based on information at the SEM and LM level presented in the literature.
