Responding to non-conductive, non-magnetic material characteristics of polyethylene (PE) pipe, this paper comes up with the ground penetrating radar (GPR) detection for urban PE gas pipeline visualization research in order to solve the problems of positioning difficulty, and to avoid potential safety hazards caused by undefined positioning of PE pipeline, so that it can provide some experience to the application of position detection technology to locate buried polyethylene pipeline. Responding to the special material properties and welding form and based on the analysis of traditional ultrasonic testing for polyethylene butt-fusion joint, this paper comes up with an ultrasonic phased array dynamic focusing and S scanning imaging technology, to make a testing experiment on polyethylene butt-fusion joint. Results of the phased array ultrasonic testing of cracks in polyethylene butt-fusion joints shows that the testing method is feasible, and verifies the buried polyethylene butt-fusion joints engineering. This research would provide experience to the application of ultrasonic phased array technology in buried polyethylene pipeline inspection.

Without position sensor control technology of brushless DC motor has become the focus of many experts and scholars at home and abroad. The article presented research of without speed and position sensor control for brushless DC motor, including brushless DC motor mathematical model, Back-EMF detection principle and starting position detection method, and designed a hardware control system based dedicated digital signal processor (DSP). For experimental study of the system based experimental prototype had shown: this method can achieve no load starting, load starting and load operation of without position sensor brushless DC motor.

Static Frequency Converter (SFC) is the key control device of reversible pump storage unit. By inputting a variable frequent current to the corresponding stator windings, the SFC can steadily start the synchronous motor. In this process, rotor position detecting accuracy comes to be the key point, but at the ultra-low speed period, the motors terminal voltage is too low to accurate sampling and is also vulnerable to the interference, which brings risks to the variable frequency starting. In this paper, two initial rotor position detection methods are compared, one is based on the voltage vector, and the other is based on adapt flux observer. At last, a 300MW/15.75kV pump storage unit with a 6 pulses SFC are built on the RTDS platform to exam the control strategy.
