Fairness and Regulation of Violence in Technological Design

The purpose of this article is to explore how the design of technology relates to the fairness of the distribution of violence in modern society. Deliberately or not, the design of technological artifacts embodies the priorities of its designers, including how violence is meted out to those affected by the design. Designers make implicit predictions about the context in which designs will perform, predictions that will not always be satisfied. Errors from failed predictions can affect people in ways that designers may not appreciate. In this article, several examples of how artifacts distribute violence are considered. The Taylor-Russell diagram is introduced as a means of representing and exploring this issue. The role of government regulation, safety, and social role in design assessment is discussed.

The article deals with methodological aspects of the development of ecological culture of schoolchildren in a multicultural educational environment. The authors identify two acute problems in modern society – multiculturalism and ecology. The Russian Federation is a multicultural country. Multicultural education is aimed at preserving the diversity of Russian society, carries the potential and tool for protecting ethnic and national communities in a multi-ethnic Russia, promotes the integration of all territorial-economic, political and national-cultural communities into a single Russian nation, allows a person to adapt to a multicultural world, helps a person understand himself and the people around him and promote the social role of a cultural person in society. The authors consider the relationship between multiculturalism and ethnopedagogy, identify the main pedagogical approaches and principles of development of multicultural education. The article notes the importance of integration of two significant areas in education and in the world - ethnology and ecology. Together they make an ethno-cultural module and an eco-cultural module which form the values for the society sustainable development. The possibility of using the technology of project activity through the implementation of ethno-ecological projects of students is considered. The authors note that ethnoecological projects on the dominant activity of students can be of different directions: research, educational, creative or practical ones. The most effective way to work on projects is through the implementation of a system of eco-oriented multicultural project weeks. Authors pay an important attention to the projects aimed at studying the ethnoecological traditions of the native land, the peculiarities of its geography, climate, natural landscape, flora and fauna, reflected in folklore, folk crafts, cults, rituals, holidays, legends, myths, etc.

Prove of land ownership by customary land is generally unwritten, just a confession of the surrounding communities with nature sign boundaries. If land ownership cannot be supported by strong evidence, the land may be registered by someone else who has getting physically for 20 years or more in consecutively and qualified on Government Regulation No. 24 of 1997 concerning Land Registration. Proof of old rights derived from the customary land law is rationally difficult to prove because there are no written documents. Customary land law does not know written ownership, only physical possession continually so it is very prone to conflict or dispute. In order to develop land administration in Indonesia, the values of customary land law contained in its principles is expected to be reflected in the land administration so it can reduce land conflict in the community. The role of customary land law has a large portion of the national land law. The role of government or ruling is very important to create a conducive condition in the land sector. A land is not allowed for personal or group interests, its use must be adjusted with the condition and the characteristic of their rights so useful, both for the prosperity and helpful to community and state.

The aim of the paper is to understand the role of Internet in creating new forms of sociability in the modern society. In the first part the history of social studies of Internet is reviewed, and the conclusion put forward that the anti-social role of the Internet cannot be proved. In the theoretical part of the paper the author presents his idea of two basic roles of Internet as interpersonal interaction tool: transmissional and procreative. These two Internet functions are very important means for reproducing a new form of sociability known as networked individualism.

The aim of this chapter is to examine the role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the governance of modern society from an autopoietic perspective. For the main part, discussions of ICT use by government have focused on either practical issues, dissemination issues, or the assessment of perceived benefits of e-government initiatives; in this chapter a more critical approach will be adopted. This chapter will adopt an autopoietic view in seeking to address the role of government as a steering mechanism in modern society and the use of ICT as an instrument of governance by administrators.
