In this chapter, we investigate the moderating effect of gender on the intention to continue using mobile Internet services (MIS) in an everyday life context. An extended model based on the technology acceptance theory is used to examine gender differences regarding MIS continuance intention in an everyday life context. A survey was conducted among 623 current MIS users to test the hypotheses using structural equation modeling approach. The findings show that female users expressed a stronger need for perceived usefulness and ease-of-use than male users, while male users expressed a significant need for perceived enjoyment. Interestingly, the stronger effect of perceived usefulness in females was contrary to prior TAM research. The observed gender differences suggest that MIS providers should consider gender when advertising and marketing MIS.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to develop an extended model of technology acceptance to include behavioural beliefs (perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use), subjective norms, management support (at institutional and governmental levels) to examine the academics’ internet acceptance behaviour within the Pakistan and Turkish context. In addition to this, impact of cultural dimension individualism-collectivism (IC) is also examined on the basis of moderator construct. Design/methodology/approach – Data were collected from 380 academics’ using a cross-sectional survey. Data were analysed using structural equation modelling (partial least squares) in conjunction with multiple group analysis. Findings – The results revealed that proposed model achieved acceptable fit with the data (i.e. R2=39 per cent in intention) and most of the hypothesised relationships were supported. The results also revealed that culture showed a moderating effect on hypothetical relationships. Specifically, the effects of management support were stronger for the respondents having high on collectivist society (i.e. Pakistan). Originality/value – The study is useful in non-western cultural contexts. Specifically, in contrast to previous studies, diversity of individuals’ acceptance behaviour is examined in Turkey and Pakistan. Additionally, this study had examined moderating impact of cultural dimension (i.e. IC) over academic’s behavioural intention to accept the internet technology.

Today, developments in information and communication technology (ICT) have a significant influence on education sustainability. In this study, the factors influencing students’ intentions towards using ICT in education sustainability, as well as their satisfaction from its use, were examined. This study aims to investigate student intentions to use information and communication technology, as well as their satisfaction with such use. Therefore, this study employed an extended model of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) as the research framework, and adopted quantitative data collection and analysis methods by surveying 502 university students who were chosen through stratified random sampling. Using structural equation modeling (SEM), student responses were sorted into eight study constructs and analyzed to explain their intentions towards technology use and satisfaction. A significant relationship was found between computer self-efficacy (CSE), subjective norms (SN), and perceived enjoyment (PE), which were significant determinants of perceived ease of use (PEU) and perceived usefulness (PU). PEU, PU, and attitudes towards computer use (ACU) influenced students’ intentions to use (SIU) ICT and students’ satisfaction (SS). The constructs succeeded in explaining usage intentions towards ICT among students and their satisfaction from this usage.

Google classroom can work in unidirectional process as it can serve the teachers’ strategies and styles on one hand and students’ perception, understanding, and effective participation in different classroom skills on the other hand. The ac-ceptance of Google classroom is affected by different factors. Some of them are still not clearly specified and discussed in previous research; therefore, they need further investigation. Based on the previous assumption, this study is an attempt to examine the factors that affect the students’ acceptance of Google classroom at Al Buraimi University College (BUC) in Oman. The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) was adopted to formulate the hypotheses of the current study. The data was collected through an online questionnaire with 337 respondents. The Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM) approach was used to assess both the measurement and structural models. The results of the study prove that both the perceived ease of use (PEOU) and perceived usefulness (PU) positively influence the behavioral intention, which in turn influence the actual usage of Google classrooms. This study helps the decision makers of the higher educational institutions to have a better understanding of the effectiveness of us-ing Google classroom by their students. It is assumed that it helps in measuring the level of students’ acceptance to the previously mentioned technology.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors that shape behavioural intentions of customers towards the adoption of payment banks in India. The conceptual framework of study is based upon integration of technology acceptance model with initial trust, facilitating conditions and social influence. Further, the study tests the moderating role of age, income and self-efficacy on the relationships between dependent variable and associated predicted variable. A total of 507 responses were collected from the state of Punjab (India), using convenient sampling technique and were analysed using the structural equation modelling (SEM). The results revealed that perceived ease of use had the highest impact on the behavioural intentions, followed by initial trust and social influence. Facilitating conditions and perceived usefulness showed lower impact on the behavioural intentions towards the adoption of payment banks. Also, moderation analysis revealed that self-efficacy moderates the relation of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness with behavioural intentions. Results imply that marketers should collaborate with developers to provide the customers with easy-to-operate solutions along with robust customer support mechanism to escalate the adoption intention of those having lower self-efficacy levels.

This presentation describes Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) when using individual protective measures (IPMs) against the spreading of viruses like COVID-19. The constructs in TAM are perceived usefulness, and ease of use, attitude towards the use of IPMs and the actual use as well as social influence, which were measured with relevant indicator variables. The statistical method used in the analysis was Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). IPMs include personal protective measures for everyday use (e.g., voluntary home isolation, respiratory etiquette, and hand hygiene); Personal protective measures for influenza pandemics (e.g., voluntary home quarantine, and use of face masks in community settings); and Environmental measures (e.g., routine cleaning of frequently touched surfaces). The results indicate that all relationships were significant also so that the effect sizes were large to medium with the exception of social influence -> perceived usefulness and social influence -> attitude towards usage.


The factors of context-awareness and mobile ubiquity are major components in the development and diffusion of any mobile technology-driven applications and services. Principally in the m-government development space, the issues of context-awareness and ubiquity are crucial if m-government initiatives are to be successful. The moderating effect of context-awareness and ubiquity on mobile government adoption is examined for 409 students from a Chinese University based on the Technology Acceptance Model. Using the Structural Equation Modeling technique, the results indicate that perceived ease of use (PEOU) was significantly related to intention to use, but perceived usefulness (PU) did not have a significant effect on mobile government adoption. The moderating analysis indicated that context-awareness significantly moderated the impact of PU but had no moderating effect on PEOU. Also, it was discovered that ubiquity was significant in moderating both the PEOU and PU on mobile government adoption. Policy implications and directions for future research are presented.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to identify antecedents of e-finance continuance intention with Alibaba’s Yu’E Bao as an example. Design/methodology/approach An online questionnaire was used to collect the data (n=293), and partial least squares structural equation modeling was employed for data analysis. Four e-finance features (perceived reputation, website quality, e-finance familiarity and situational normality) are introduced with trust acting as a moderator between the users’ satisfaction and continuance intention to use an e-finance platform. Findings The results find that website quality, familiarity and situational normality can influence perceived ease of use (PEOU) and perceived usefulness (PU). PEOU and PU, together with reputation, are positively associated with confirmation which further leads to satisfaction. The positive effects that satisfaction and trust have on e-finance continuance intention are confirmed, and trust is found to be a significant moderator on the relationship between satisfaction and continuance intention. Practical implications The findings can be used to guide e-finance providers to improve their platform design and services to retain users. Originality/value This study combines the theory of trust, Technology Acceptance Model and Expectations Confirmation Theory to investigate the factors that influence the continuance intention in the context of e-finance in China.
