Government Role

Government's role is tourism is generally by way of economic development models or individual projects. In the U.S., each state and most large communities have a unit whose primary charge is economic development. Tourism is often viewed as an important lynchpin in a community's economic development efforts. Additionally, government impacts telecommunications via regulation. In some locales government policy is directly targeted to impact tourism (e.g., the billions spent by Mexico to develop Cancun and other coastal resort communities). Governments with a longer time horizon than ordinarily seen in the private sector are ideally suited to impose regulations to achieve sustainability. This is particularly important when conservation of a tourism asset is critical (e.g., Mayan and Egyptian archeological sites). Governments can also act in a meta-role to join various tourism assets under a single umbrella (e.g., the Royal Thai government operates a meta-site) making it easier for a tourist to explore multiple websites focused on tourist attractions and interests within the kingdom. Governments can also act to restore consumer faith in a locale as when the Government of Mexico raided vendors who were purveying tainted alcohol and adversely impacting tourism to Cancun. Case studies are employed to highlight government roles in cultural tourism, and one case highlights the negative impact social media can have on tourism. Best practices for governments are forwarded.

The development of religious extremism in Indonesia continues to increase every year so that serious attention is needed by the government to deal with religious extremism in Indonesia. Indonesia is an archipelagic country where there are various ethnic groups and religions that coexist. However, the development of religious extremism sometimes becomes a serious problem for the Indonesian people because it can have a negative impact and damage the unity between nations and religions. This research uses literature study. This research method is carried out by reviewing various literatures, both books, newspapers, survey reports, academic journals related to religious extremism in Indonesia. The results show that not all religious extremism has an impact on the emergence of terrorism, but the government still must make the right policies in handling religious extremism that can cause division and affect peoples welfare. The policies that have been made by the government are considered appropriate and based on the laws that have been set by the government so that they can have a positive impact in maintaining the unity and integrity of the Indonesian nation.

The emergence of e-commerce and express delivery services has significantly transformed business operations and consumer shopping experience. However, the resulting problem of packaging waste, particularly from overpackaging, poses serious challenges to environmental sustainability and human health. Existing research has proposed many solutions from various perspectives, but very few have considered the acceptability and consumer preference for these proposals. Using the value co-creation (VCC) theory, we established a research model to explore consumer preferences for e-commerce overpackaging solutions. A survey of 632 online consumers in Guangzhou and Shenzhen was conducted, and data were analyzed using the SmartPLS software. The results show that establishing a recycling system, government policy, and consumers’ environmental awareness have a significant positive impact on consumer preference, while combined packaging has a significant negative impact. We also found that government policy plays an intermediary role in establishing a recycling system and consumer preference. Based on these findings, we recommend that enterprises establish and improve their packaging recycling systems and that e-commerce platforms provide alternative options to combined packaging. Also, the government should play a guiding and coordinating role for enterprises and consumers, and environmental awareness among consumers should actively be promoted.

AbstractSustainability of economic development in Nigeria has been a serious challenge despite the huge revenue allocated to the three tiers of the government on a monthly basis from the federation account. This recurring decimal has left the country in a pitiable condition with inadequate infrastructures to carry on economic activities. The study examines the extent to which revenue allocation enhances economic development using time series data obtained from CBN Statistical Bulletin which covered a period from 1981 to 2016. Ordinary Least Squares technique was employed and the findings revealed that FASG and NDSD have significant negative impact on PCI while FAFG has insignificant negative impact on PCI. On the contrast, the result shows that FALG has a robust significant positive impact on PCI. The study attributes this poor performance to misuse of resources and suggest that more stringent measures be employed by the government to fight graft in the public sector and among government officials. This will help to curb corrupt practices and ensure efficient and effective use of resources to boost economic development. Keywords: Revenue allocation, economic development, federation account, Resources, Nigeria.

English
Regarding sustainable economic development, the government have to consider three main roles, i.e. : to accelerate growth through efficiency improvement, to generate equity and justice, and to maintain stability as well as macro-economic growth. The economic system being exclusively bias to one of the said economic dimensions will not sustainable in the long-run. The assessment which accommodate complementary growth and equity on poultry industry is important, due to structural problems on the respective industry, in addition to marginalization of smallholder poultry farmers. Abstract Background : Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the major infectious diseases that seriously endanger people's health. In Shandong province, the relationship between the level of economic development and TB incidence has not been studied. This study aims to provide more research basis for the government to prevent and control TB by exploring the impact of different economic factors on TB incidence. Methods : By constructing threshold regression model (TRM),we described the extent to which different economic factors contribute to TB registered incidence and differences in TB registered incidence among seventeen cities with different levels of economic development in Shandong province, China, during 2006-2017. Data were retrieved from the China Information System for Disease Control and Prevention. Results: Per capita medical expenditure(regression coefficient,-0.0314462;SD,0.0079305;P>|t|,0.000)and per capita savings(regression coefficient,0.0001924;SD,0.0000566;P>|t|,0.001) passed the significance test at the level of 1%.They are the two economic indicators that have the greatest impact on TB registered incidence.Through the threshold test, we selected the per capita savings as the threshold variable. In the three stages of per capita savings(<9772.8086 China Yuan(CNY);9772.8086 - 33835.5391 CNY;>33835.5391 CNY), rural per capita income always has a significant negative impact on the TB registered incidence (The regression coefficients are -0.0015682, -0.0028132 and -0.0022253 respectively.P is 0.007,0.000 and 0.000 respectively.).In cities with good economies,TB registered incidence was 38.30% in 2006 and dropped to 25.10% by 2017. In cities with moderate economies, TB registered incidence peaked in 2008 at 43.10% and dropped to 27.1% by 2017.In poorer cities, TB registered incidence peaked in 2008 at 56.30% and dropped to 28.9% in 2017. Conclusion: We found that per capita savings and per capita medical expenditure are most closely related to the TB incidence. Therefore, relevant departments should formulate a more complete medical system and medical insurance policy to effectively solve the problem of "difficult and expensive medical treatment". In order to further reduce the TB incidence, in addition to timely and accurate diagnosis and treatment, it is more important for governments to increase investment in medicine and health care.

The U.S. burley tobacco industry faces an important crossroad in this decade. It appears that domestic disappearance of burley tobacco will continue to decrease and U.S. burley tobacco will continue to have stiff competition in foreign markets. The government can influence the U.S. tobacco market in the coming decade through its tobacco program. The alternatives available to government policy makers must be analyzed to help guide policy formulation.

Introduction. The importance of the banking sector is vital for the economic development of any country, since it is the main structural unit of monetary use, which plays the greatest role in the development of the state. As in all markets, we are faced with competition in the banking market, which is characterized by certain specifics, since the main product is money that cannot be replaced by other goods, and the main purpose of competition is to gain an advantage among agents operating in the same market, which is reflected in the final profit. The more the banking market develops and the more diversified the services offered to clients, the more the role of competition in the banking sector increases. The spread of the pandemic not only impeded the development of healthy competition, but also called into question the normal functioning and development of the banking sector. Aim and tasks. The aim of the study is to determine the level of competition in the Georgian banking sector by the method of identifying total assets and net loans, which aims to identify the causes of the market concentration level and find solutions, as well as to determine and assess the shock effects of the pandemic, because The pandemic period has become an even bigger challenge for the Georgian banking sector, where most of the market players occupy a small volume of the market, the National Bank of Georgia is actively trying to keep up with the challenges, and in order to mitigate the negative impact caused by the pandemic Results. The results of the study showed the monopoly functioning of the market, which is an obstacle to the development of a competitive market, resulting in unhealthy functioning of the market and the development of a flexible banking system, which ultimately negatively affects the stability of the country's economic development. As for the post-pandemic situation, it has been dealt with quite positively in Georgia, with the management of loan and deposit portfolios successfully managed through a temporary supervisory plan developed by the government, which has not been followed by outflow of funds from banks and loan portfolio mismanagement. Conclusions. In conclusion, it should be noted that in a highly concentrated market, small banks should be promoted with various legislative benefits, which will lead to competition, it is possible to impose a so-called "Capital tax", which implies high demands on capital, it will allow small banks to develop in a healthy competitive environment. Despite the fact that no bank was disrupted during the virus shock in Georgia, the financial result was so unfavorable, it was damaged, the main reason for which was the provision of possible losses on loans, which amounted to a total of 1.22 billion GEL, the National Bank of Georgia is actively trying to keep up with the challenges.
