Internet of things (IoT) is the current area of research that allows heterogeneous devices to have a homogeneous connectivity based on the designed and desired application of the user. With the latest development in connectivity via smart phones, there is an exponential increase in users who access internet. However, various applications have already been designed based on the user's requirement. Therefore, this chapter intends to provide a detailed view on applications on IoT. Industrial applications help in monitoring the machinery so that production increases with minimum chaos if any error occurs. Safety helmet for mining based on IoT is used to measure the gas and temperature levels in the coal mines. Garbage management system is used for monitoring and clearing of dust bins. IoT-based domestic applications help users to have a better access over the equipment they use. As a business application, emotion analysis is performed to obtain the customers mood while shopping. Monitoring of crops from a remote location is another application which provides data on the health of the crop.

In smart cities, traffic congestion is one of the significant problems for citizens. Traffic management is an essential one for the quick development of populace and urban movement in metropolitan areas, and traffic blockage is often seeming on streets. To handle different issues for managing traffic on the streets and to help experts in inappropriate arrangement, a smart traffic management system with the IoT (Internet of Things) is proposed in this paper. Mechanisms to utilize IR sensors to distinguish traffic density isn't easy as smooth a solo vehicle recognized at the last sensor so that it can suggest traffic density in high in any event, even if there is free space before it. A technique to be proposed to solve the previously mentioned issues efficiently is by utilizing the Internet of things for traffic management systems. This paper aims to propose a Fuzzy controller to deal with traffics in smart cities. Fuzzy induction used to compute exact traffic, which separates the parking vehicle and moving vehicle. There is an issue of separating parking and un-parking vehicles in the existing systems. So, we planned to solve this using fuzzy logic.

In the present scenario, sensors place a major role for implementing smart devices. Internet of Things (IoT) is an advancement of sensors which can communicate with non-communicate things (devices). Many of the developed counties are using smartness in creating and communicating devices using IoT. In India, major challenges focus on how and where to implement smartness. Hence, authors found some different areas like healthcare, education, transport, water, energy, communication, security & safety, citizen services, and so on. All these areas are covered by a smart way using recent technology (IoT) in smart cities concepts. Various technologies like IoT, Big Data, and cloud computing are used for constructing smartness in the form of devices. In this Chapter, authors focus on a smart waste management system using IoT. They provide various smart bin construction technology, advantages, standards and challenges in detail. It is very useful to the reader to understand the various method of waste management in smart cities development using IoT.

The growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) offers numerous opportunities for developing industrial applications such as smart grids, smart cities, smart manufacturers, etc. By utilising these opportunities, businesses engage in creating the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). IoT is vulnerable to hacks and, therefore, requires various techniques to achieve the level of security required. Furthermore, the wider implementation of IIoT causes an even greater security risk than its benefits. To provide a roadmap for researchers, this survey discusses the integrity of industrial IoT systems and highlights the existing security approaches for the most significant industrial applications. This paper mainly classifies the attacks and possible security solutions regarding IoT layers architecture. Consequently, each attack is connected to one or more layers of the architecture accompanied by a literature analysis on the various IoT security countermeasures. It further provides a critical analysis of the existing IoT/IIoT solutions based on different security mechanisms, including communications protocols, networking, cryptography and intrusion detection systems. Additionally, there is a discussion of the emerging tools and simulations used for testing and evaluating security mechanisms in IoT applications. Last, this survey outlines several other relevant research issues and challenges for IoT/IIoT security.

M-learning or mobile learning is defined as learning through mobile apps, social interactions and online educational hubs via Internet or network using personal mobile devices such as tablets and smart phones. However, in such open environment examination security is most challenging task as students can exchange mobile devices or also can exchange information through network during examination. This paper aims to design secure examination management system for m- learning and provide appropriate mechanism for anti- impersonation to ensure examination security. The users are authenticated through OTP. To prevent students from exchanging mobile devices during examination, system re-authenticates students automatically through face recognition at random time without interrupting the test. The system also provides external click management i.e. prevent students from accessing online sites and already downloaded files during examination.
