Factors Determining the Continued Intention to Use Mobile Money Transfer Services (MMTS) Among University Students in Ghana

This study explored the factors influencing the continued intention to use mobile money transfer services among university students in Ghana. The UTAUT was used as the research theoretical framework while the analysis was conducted with SPSS and SmartPLS. The results demonstrate that the continued intention to use mobile money transfer services is influenced by performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, and perceived service quality. Also, perceived service quality was found to be a significant predictor of the actual use of mobile money transfer services. The study further revealed that the continued intention to use was a positive determinant of the actual usage of mobile money transfer services. The implications of these and other findings of the study are discussed.

The purpose of this research paper is to investigate the determinates of Korean students in China to use e-government services. A total of 400 structured research questionnaire instruments was designed and administered to potential respondents of which 93.75% responded. The Technology Acceptance Mode (TAM) was used as a theoretical framework for this study. The data gathered was analyzed with SPSS version 20. The results show that all the predictors (Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Ease of Use, Perceived Service Quality, and Citizen Trust) investigated are significant positive determiners of Korean students' intention to adopt and use e-government services. The results further indicated that Citizen Trust positively and significantly moderated the positive relationship between perceived ease of use, perceived service quality and intention to use e-government services but failed to show any positive moderation effect on perceived usefulness and intention to use e-government services. The implications of these findings are further discussed.

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to examine the impact of mobile money access on internal remittances received, per capita consumption expenditure and welfare of household in Ghana.Design/methodology/approachThe study used data from the latest round of the Ghana Living Standards Survey (GLSS 7) and employed the propensity score matching technique to estimate average treatment effect between users and non-users of mobile money transfer services.FindingsThe study finds that using mobile money is welfare enhancing, particularly for poor households and the channel by which it impacts on welfare is through higher internal remittances received and per capita expenditure. The results from the average treatment effect indicate that mobile money users receive significantly higher remittances and consequently spend averagely higher on consumption than non-users.Research limitations/implicationsAlthough the data employed in this study is limited to one country, the findings support the financial inclusion role and developmental impact of mobile money transfer services. Hence, mobile money transfer services should be promoted and facilitated by the telecommunication and financial sector regulators.Originality/valueIn addition to making original contribution to the literature on the welfare impact of mobile money, the study's use of the propensity score matching is unique.

This study proposed and validated an extension of the unified model of electronic government adoption (UMEGA). The data analysis was conducted with a structural equation modeling technique using Smart PLS 3.0. The results have demonstrated contrary to expectations that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and social influence do not predict the attitude toward the use of e-government services. Facilitating conditions, however, were found to significantly determine both the behavioral intention to use and effort expectancy of e-government services. Also, perceived service quality and trust in government were found to positively predict, respectively, the intention to use and recommend the adoption of e-government services. The implications of these and other result findings of this study are thoroughly interrogated.

This study investigated the moderating impact of perceived service quality on the positive relationship between perceived usefulness of e-government services and intention to use e-government services. The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) was applied as the theoretical foundation for the study. The research data collected was analyzed with SPSS while the graphical representation of the moderating effect was generated using the software known as Interaction version 1.7.2211. The results have demonstrated that perceived service quality of e-government services does not have any significant moderating effect on the positive relationship between perceived usefulness and intention to use e-government services. However, perceived service quality and perceived usefulness of e-government services were found to be positively significant in influencing the intention to use e-government services. The implications of this study are further discussed.

This paper employs a measurement of the service quality of educational Websites as perceived by students, following a conceptual model developed by Santos (2003).  Perceived service quality of educational Websites is conceptualized as dependent on the following variables—ease of use, content, reliability, privacy, and interaction. An empirical test with university students validates the overall model.  As for the individual independent variables, all of them except privacy are found to have a significant effect on perceived service quality.

Background Internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy (iCBT) is an effective treatment for patients with a chronic somatic illness to improve self-management skills and to learn to adjust to their chronic disease and its impact on daily life. However, the implementation of iCBT in clinical practice is challenging. Objective This study aimed to examine the current degree of implementation of iCBT among psychologists in a medical setting and discover determinants influencing the implementation of iCBT among nonusers. Methods A Web-based survey, based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), was distributed among psychologists in a medical setting. The survey included questions regarding the current use of iCBT, intention to use iCBT in the future, and operationalized concepts of the UTAUT constructs, that is, performance expectancy (PE), effort expectancy (EE), social influence (SI), and facilitating conditions (FC). Results In total, 107 (24.8%) psychologists completed the survey. Of them, 16.8% have access to iCBT, 15.9% currently use iCBT, and 21.5% are expected to use iCBT within the next year. The constructs PE, EE, and SI together significantly influenced behavioral intention (BI; mean 3.9 [SD=0.8]) among nonusers (R2=0.490; F4.85=20.405; P<.001). Conclusions In spite of an average to high BI, the current implementation of iCBT is rather low among psychologists in a medical setting. Further research should focus on reducing the gap between intention to use and actual use by focusing on influencing the predictive UTAUT constructs.
