WiMAX, one of the emerging wireless broadband networks, was designed to support traffic from applications with diverse QoS requirements. In WiMAX, an efficient resource management technique such as scheduling is required for the proper allocation of network resources to these data streams. This article proposes an enhanced priority load-aware scheduling (EPLAS) algorithm to improve the performance of WiMAX networks. The proposed scheme adaptively determines the weight of each queue based on the queue load. It also introduces a packet drop control mechanism that reduces the packet drop rate and increases the average throughput of the network by prioritizing packets with the earliest deadlines within each queue. The performance of EPLAS was evaluated against other benchmark schemes using several simulation experiments. The results revealed that EPLAS performed significantly better than the benchmark algorithms in terms of average delay, average packet drop ratio, and average throughput.

Cloud computing is an emerging technology through which resources can be shared over the internet with different users either free or on a rent basis. Resource scheduling in cloud computing is a challenging area for researchers as is maximum utilization can opt through efficient resource scheduling algorithm. Other than this, virtual machine provisioning, packaging, and availability guarantee decrease the performance. Resource management in cloud could be a time and cost effective activity if it is managed property. These resources are accessible and computable which is totally dependent upon the management techniques applied in cloud. In a cloud setting, heterogeneous, vulnerability, and scattering of resources creates many issues of distribution among the workloads which need to be compute. Specialists still face inconveniences to pick the prudent, material and expend less time to execution of resource portion to the cloud. This investigation delineates an expansive composed writing examination of asset administration inside the space of cloud typically and cloud asset administration based on SLA with multi-objective functions like cost and time. In this paper, an autonomic cloud resource management technique is proposed to resolve identified issues by adopting the self-characteristics mechanism and improved Antlion optimization algorithm and tested in cloudsim toolkit and Aws Ec2 environment. The implementation results of proposed work are the evidence that it is better performing as compared with the existing frameworks, however, the performance evaluation method depends upon the different cloud environment and it may vary.

In recent years, there has been an increase in the transmission of multimedia services due to the emergence of wireless broadband (WiBB) technologies such as WiMAX. WiMAX supports multiple QoS classes for transmission of different multimedia applications. However, satisfying the requirements of these applications with the often-limited resources has been a major challenge, which requires an efficient scheduling scheme such as PLAS. PLAS is a variant of LAWRR designed to reduce queuing delay of real-time traffics in WiBB networks. Several simulation experiments were conducted to evaluate the performance of PLAS against the LAWRR algorithm. The results revealed that PLAS outperforms the other scheme in terms of average delay for low input traffic. However, the metric (delay) used and the traffics generated for the simulation are not adequate to realistically evaluate the performance of a scheduling algorithm in a typical metropolitan area network. In this study, we further evaluated the performance of PLAS and LAWRR under varying higher input traffics, and an additional performance metric, using discrete event simulation. The results demonstrated that the PLAS achieved better results in terms of queuing delay and throughput compared to LAWRR. The improved performance will lead to better user experience, which will increase the number of subscribers and consequently increase revenue for service providers.

Ad Hoc Networks face a lot of problems due to issues like mobility, power level, load of the network, bandwidth constraints, dynamic topology which lead to link breaks, node break down and increase in overhead. As nodes are changing their position consistently, routes are rapidly being disturbed, thereby generating route errors and new route discoveries. The need for mobility awareness is widely proclaimed. In our dissertation we present a scheme AOMDV-APLP that makes AOMDV aware of accessibility of neighbor nodes in the network. Nodes acquire the accessibility information of other nodes through routine routing operations and keep in their routing table. Based on this information route discovery is restricted to only “accessible” and “start” nodes. Further route with the strongest signal strength is selected from multiple routes using Link life value predicted by Link Breakage prediction technique. Simulation result shows that using accessibility and link life knowledge in route discovery process MAC overhead, routing overhead and average delay is reduced 3 times, and improve the Packet delivery ratio to a large extent than standard AOMDV which reflects effective use of network resources.
