When the receiving nodes are uncertain or the topology of the ad hoc network is high dynamic, broadcasting is an effective data dissemination method. In this research, a broadcasting method based on busy tone is modeled and implemented with the network simulation platform OPNET, and the performance of the broadcasting method is analyzed based on experimental results. Experimental results show that, in the network with various load, performance of the broadcasting method based on busy tone is good.

Single-hop broadcasting is a basic information dissemination method. For broadcasting method, wireless channel reservation and channel state indication are two factors effecting information dissemination performance. In this paper, existing channel reservation and channel state indication mechanisms were studied, the limitations of them were analyzed, and a single–hop broadcasting method based on busy tone is proposed. With OPNET network simulation platform, the proposed broadcasting method is modeled and implemented. Experimental results show that the proposed method performs well.

Recently, UAVs (unmanned air vehicles) have been developed with high performance, and hence, the range of system utilizing UAVs has also been widening. UAVs are even considered as connected mobile sensors and are claimed to be the future of IoT (Internet of Things). UAVs’ mission fulfillment is relying on the efficiency and performance of communication in a FANET (Flying Ad hoc NETwork) environment where UAVs communicate with each other through an ad hoc network without infrastructure. Especially, for mission-critical applications such as disaster rescue operations, reliable and on-time transmission of rescue information is very critical. To develop the reliable FANETs, a realistic network simulation platform for UAV communication has become an important role. Motivated by this observation, this paper first presents a study on realistic FANET environment simulation platform. On top of the proposed platform, we also design a stable UAV communication protocol with high packet delivery and bounded end-to-end communication delay.

Disaster management is management of tasks involving responses to emergencies and methods of devising recovery strategies from havocs caused by nature. It assumes paramount importance now as the human surrounding has enormously become unpredictable owing to natural or man-made disasters. Consequence of disaster can be reduced by broadcasting of disaster alert to a defined radius that could be affected by the disaster. The objective of disaster management is to ensure energy economical and reliable communication that is resilient to network topology changes within the area. Vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) is efficiently utilized to transfer the disaster alert information. Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) communication is used for disseminating the disaster alert message. This study proposes an effective data acquisition from the disaster location, data dissemination to the neighbouring zones and disaster management using VANET technology.
