Recently the truck industry has experienced a large push to overcome the increasing demands of higher performance, lower weight, and longer life of components, all this at a reasonable cost and in a short period of time. Conducting experimental test in the early stage of design is time consuming and expensive. In order to reduce the cost, it is important to conduct simulation using numerical methods by software to find the optimum design. In practice, many of the finite element objects are very large so it makes a difficulty in meshing and also in analysis of the model. It very takes time and need a lot of memory of computer. Submodeling technique offer the solution about that problem. This paper presents the submodeling technique that applied on the corroded truck chassis.

The finite element analysis of large air cooling tower was carried out using ABAQUS. On the basis of strength above,8 types of the axial force are analyzed and summarized, find valuable rules, and put forward the further optimization design. So that it can satisfy the strength and stability of air cooling tower, the structure is more reasonable, reduce weight, reduce the cost.

As a result of enhanced performance and mission requirements for Navy ships, ship design has dramatically increased the use of higher strength, lightweight steels and various local reinforcements, e.g., deck inserts, ring stiffeners, etc., in foundation designs to satisfy the design requirements for supporting machinery, consoles, and weapon systems among others. In additional to operational loading requirements, most of these foundations must also be designed to satisfy shock, vibration and other combat system requirements. While the same piece of equipment may be used in other ship contracts, the foundations are uniquely designed and require a separate analysis and drawing package. Computer modeling and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) have helped reduce the labor required to analyze foundations, but the high number of “unique” foundations as well as changes which necessitate a new analysis still create a large workload for engineers. This is further compounded by increased costs in production due to greater numbers of unique parts and materials that must be marked, stored, and retrieved later for fabrication. This goal of this project was to determine the cost-savings potential of leveraging past foundations work in designing, analyzing, and drawing foundations in the future. By the project’s conclusion Ingalls will have created a database for rapid access to previously-generated foundation information, the framework of which will be publicly available for all shipyards to populate with their own foundation information.

The research is conducted on the tank of semi-trailers which is made of steel by using the method of Finite Element Analysis. The optimized result indicated that the mass of the tank structure reduced by 9% on the premise that the intensity and the rigidity request of structural property is satisfied, and the dynamic characteristic also meets the requirement. It is the foundation to reduce the cost of manufacture and improve the operational effectiveness of user.

An attempt has been made to design and analyze Indexing Head a very important component in milling operation under sustainability considerations. The design of each component of indexing head is presented along with solid modeling and finite element analysis. The cost estimation for indexing head for milling operation is also presented. The design and finite element analysis of indexing head should be utilized by manufacturers of this very useful device in milling operation. It is used for cutting gears, spirals, splines, etc. The cost estimated of the manufactured indexing head shows it to be within reasonable limits of market. Finite element analysis of each component is safe. An electronic indexing is suggested as an improvement over the mechanical indexing head. A schematic of electronic indexing is presented. The electronic indexing head can be used with milling machine not provided with indexing head and will be portable. The minimum energy needed to manufacture the indexing head is also estimated.

In the article, the study focus on the computer aid finite element analysis of the rolled-steel pallet. The value of various parameters is determined by the force analysis according to the relevant standard in working condition of shock. Meshing the modal and defining the force and constraint are discussed before the simulation. The calculated value based on Ansys is very similar to the result in the actual situation, which proved that the computer aid analysis can be used in the rolled-steel pallet detection in order to decrease the cost and increase the accuracy.

In the process of cutting, often the selection of cutting parameters is done considering empirical methods. This approach is more expensive and does not usually lead to the best solutions. Numerical methods for simulating the chip formation have been under development over the last thirty years. The aim of the present research is to compare models based on rheological properties of metals with 2D Finite Element Models of chip formation process.

The need for the rehabilitation of bridges and structures is becoming more apparent as the number of deficient civil structure grows and the cost of replacement is becoming prohibitive. These leads to the search of alternative methods, such as rehabilitation, to put the deteriorated structures back to normal operation with the least possible cost. One such method is the use of composite plates adhesively bonded to concrete as reinforcement and to prevent the propagation of crack within the concrete structure. In this study the load transfer and the resulting stress distribution in the composite-concrete adhesion system is investigated using the finite element method. The effects of the different bond parameters are studied using the finite element. In addition, results of the finite element analysis are proved to be in agreement with the analytical solution of shear stress distribution in the adhesion layer that was developed in previous studies by the authors.
