The construction organization usually takes the Critical Path Method (CPM ) used in the mathematics graph theory, which is a kind of classic system engineering analysis method, was introduced to China by Hua Luogeng – a mathematician, and originally called the Overall Planning Method. This method has been widely applied in various fields of the national economy, especially in the construction field; of course the Overall Planning Method itself has also been greatly developed. Though the Overall Planning Method is relatively mature, there are still a number of uncertainties (random factors) in the construction organization, and it is not easy to make a mathematical description for the Critical Path Method. This paper tries to use random linear programming in the construction organization.

In order to succeed Indonesia’s mission to provide 23.000 MegaWatt, the gas pipeline transmission has been built. The Project consists of many activities that related to each other, If one of the activities are having a problem that caused a delay, then the succeeding activities will get affected and could cause a project’s delay. To anticipate, it needs the acceleration of the project’s activity. In this case, the pipe transmission project would cause a 7 day delay. To accelerate it, this study gives the calculation, using “What If Analysis Method” on “Critical Path Method”. The acceleration actions are treated in accordance with providing extra working hours and the certain amount of manpower in the succeeding activities.

This chapter focuses primarily on Graphical Evaluation and Review Technique (GERT), one of the intriguing techniques used for network-based management. It is a stochastic network technique and has many advantages over the conventional Critical Path Method (CPM) and Programme Evaluation and Review Techniques used for project management. The formulation of the GERT network for linear situation can be development by analytical techniques (such as signal flow graph theory); thus for a non-linear and other complex conditions, the Q-GERT (included Queueing Concepts) is used. To reinforce the importance of GERT and Q-GERT, a firm study is carried out on the limitations of the CPM and PERT. Thus, a solid comparison of GERT network with the CPM and PERT network is done not only to emphasize the applicability of the network but also to validate of the network. The scheduling of concrete formwork systems are considered for the comparison.

It is recommended to implement forecasting management models in the area of land use and protection by applying linear programming methods to optimize the size of farms, which land is located in different natural and economic zones. Analysis and assessment of land use in natural-economic zones is a type of management activity for deep understanding of the dialectic of a managed object development and true assessment of its moving forces. This enables to simulate the situation of land use, to identify a specific goal, to choose the means to achieve it and to obtain the optimum result. The implementation of the proposed forecast models of the optimal farm size is carried out by linear programming in three ways (northwest corner method, minimum cost method and What-If analysis method, that uses Solver, a Microsoft Excel add-in program). The implementation of the above approaches is based on the example of four farms and five natural-economic zones. The obtained solutions show that the best result is attained by using Solver for What-If analysis method, a Microsoft Excel add-in program. The northwest corner method gives the worst result, but this is the simplest solution. The minimum cost method depends on the researcher qualification and produces the result that is most often found between the results obtained by the northwest corner method and the "Solver" procedure. When using the method of the northwest corner a program of consideration of different options for the distribution of land resources and the choice of the optimal solution was developed. This allows to find an optimal result of land allocation according to the result, which is similar to the result of the procedure "Solver", but it is more adapted for the direct participation of the researcher in the process of solving problems. There is an opportunity to improve the result by changing the original data, which simulates the forecast of the distribution of farm land in natural-economic zones, while minimizing production costs. In the absence of access to computers, the solutions obtained by the northwest corner and the minimum cost methods can be improved by the potential method.

Construction projects are generally the most high-risk businesses, especially shipbuilding projects. Efforts to reduce the risk can be done by minimizing the potential risk. This study aims to see potential high risk and prevent delays in the completion of ship construction using the Critical Path Method CPM at PT. XYZ. By using the Critical Path Method CPM critical paths can be given more attention so that they will not interfere ship construction projects. In addition, it is also a form of anticipation if there is a delay, it is possible to reschedule.
