Through the measured simply supported bridge's dynamic parameters, we can establish the finite element model of the structure. As the flexibility matrix can reflect the actual state of the bridge, making the actual measured flexibility matrix as a basis to inverse the bridge’s finite element model .Combined with the engineering practice static load test, we can assess the bearing capacity of the bridge according to inversion model bridge.

Currently the bridge structure detections are mainly based on static load test and dynamic load test. The static load test has shortcomings of less test data, long time-consumption and high cost. However, the dynamic load test has the advantages of quick and convenient, its related technologies and theories are still not mature enough. To solve this problem, the detection of bridge structure based on quasi-static test is proposed in this paper. Quasi-static load is applied on the structure by moving the standard load vehicle slowly. Then create the structural finite element model and modify the model according to the measured data to make it consistent with the actual structure. The bridge actual structural mechanical properties can be acquired by conducting load test on the optimized structural finite element model. By doing this, the bridge safety could be evaluated quickly.

An on-site static load test of a reinforced concrete double-arch bridge with fracture is carried out, and a comparative analysis of the measured experimental results of the bridge working conditions and the calculation results of Midas/civil Finite Element Model is performed. The results show that the performance and structural deformation recoverability of the bridge is weak. The bridges overall load-bearing capacity does not satisfy its designed requirements.

Abstract In order to realize the directional and controllable splitting of splitting grouting, the field grouting test was carried out. Using a new grouting pipe designed, the splitting direction and size of the branch vein are effectively controlled through the control of grouting pressure and grouting amount. In order to explore the bearing characteristics of split grouting pile and provide necessary parameters for the design of split grouting pile composite foundation in engineering practice, the field static load test and indoor geotechnical test of split grouting pile are designed, and the ultimate bearing capacity of single pile and necessary soil parameters are obtained. In order to make up for the limitations of field static load test, the three-dimensional finite element model of pile, soil and branch vein of split grouting pile is established by using the finite element analysis software ABAQUS. The finite element analysis results are compared with the measured values of field test, and the variation laws of pile shaft axial force, stress and displacement of branch vein at different depths, pile side friction, etc. are further explored, Through these changes, the interaction and load transfer mechanism between pile and soil are analyzed, which provides a reference for optimal design.

Planomiller is a milling machine that widely used in processes of large parts. Cistern stents is a component of planomiller supporting the sink. In this paper, topological optimization of Cistern stents is implemented to reduce its weight. Firstly geometry model of Cistern stents is built in SolidWorks, a finite element model of Cistern stents is established. Then loads and boundary conditions are loaded to the finite element model according to engineering practice. Finally density of units is set as the design variables, energy of structural deformation is set as the objective function, Cistern stents can be optimized by optimizing analysis. The compared results show that the proposed optimization design is effective.

An accurate finite element model is a necessity for analyzing the bridge's health status. The uniform design combined with response surface finite element model updating method is proposed in this paper. The error of data obtained from updating model is less than 3% by contrasting static load test data in Shihe Bridge. The result shows that the updating model has a good fit with the actual bridge.

The model tuning through sensitivity analysis is a prominent procedure to assess the structural behavior and dynamic characteristics of cable-stayed bridges. Most of the previous sensitivity-based model tuning methods are automatic iterative processes; however, the results of recent studies show that the most reasonable results are achievable by applying the manual methods to update the analytical model of cable-stayed bridges. This paper presents a model updating algorithm for highly redundant cable-stayed bridges that can be used as an iterative manual procedure. The updating parameters are selected through the sensitivity analysis which helps to better understand the structural behavior of the bridge. The finite element model of Tatara Bridge is considered for the numerical studies. The results of the simulations indicate the efficiency and applicability of the presented manual tuning method for updating the finite element model of cable-stayed bridges. The new aspects regarding effective material and structural parameters and model tuning procedure presented in this paper will be useful for analyzing and model updating of cable-stayed bridges.

Abstract The objective of this study is to develop a finite element model of the human thorax with a protective body armor system so that the model can adequately determine the thorax’s biodynamical response from a projectile impact. The finite element model of the human thorax consists of the thoracic skeleton, heart, lungs, major arteries, major veins, trachea, and bronchi. The finite element model of the human thorax is validated by comparing the model’s results to experimental data obtained from cadavers wearing a protective body armor system undergoing a projectile impact.

Abstract Stress analysis and determination of eigen pairs of a typical turbocharger compressor impeller have been carried out using the concept of cyclic symmetry. A simplified model treating the blade and the hub as isolated elements has also been attempted. The limitations of the simplified model have been brought out. The results of the finite element model using the cyclic symmetric approach have been discussed.

Due to the environment, climate, loads and other factors, the pre-stress applied to the beam is not a constant. It is important for engineers to track the state of the pre-stress in order to ensure security of the bridge in service. To solve the problem mentioned above, the paper puts forward a new way to analyze the effective pre-stress using the displacement inversion method based on the inversion theory according to the measured vertical deflection of the bridge in service at different time. The method is a feasible way to predict the effective pre-stress of the bridge in service. Lastly, taking the pre-stressed concrete continuous rigid frame bridge for example, the effective pre-stress is analyzed by establishing the finite element model.
