The explicit dynamic finite element theory is applied on the collision of ships with buoys for computer simulation. Using ANSYS/LS-DYNA finite element analysis software, the numerical simulation of the collision between the ton ship and the buoy with different structures and impact points. The collision force, deformation, displacement parameters and the weak impact points of a buoy are obtained. Based on the numerical simulation results, analysis of buoys and structural collision damages in anti-collision features are discussed, and several theoretical sugestions in anti-collision for the design of buoy are provided.

A dynamic finite element analysis model for cylindrical roller bearing is developed, and the complex stress distribution and dynamic contacting nature of the bearing are investigated carefully based on ANSYS/LS-DYNA. Numerical simulation results show that the stress would be bigger when the element contacting with the inner or outer ring than at other times, and the biggest stress would appear near the area that roller contacting with the inner ring. Phenomenon of stress concentration on the roller is found to be very obvious during the operating process of the bearing system. The stress distributions of different elements are uneven on the same side surface of roller in its axis direction. Numerical simulation results can give useful references for the design and analysis of rolling bearing.

Welding residual stress is one of the main factors that affect the strength and life of components. In order to explore the effect on residual stress of welding line by laser shock processing, finite element analysis software ANSYS is used to simulate the welding process, to calculate the distribution of welding residual stress field. On this basis, then AYSYS/LS-DYNA is used to simulate the laser shock processing on welding line. Simulation results show that residual stress distributions of weld region, heat-affected region and matrix by laser shock processing are clearly improved, and the tensile stress of weld region effectively reduce or eliminate. The simulation results and experimental results are generally consistent, it offer reasons for parameter optimization of welding and laser shock processing by finite element analysis software.

The effect of cut height on collapse area is simulated and analyzed by dynamic finite element software. Meanwhile, the simulated collapse processes of the cooling tower with different cut height were completed in a parallel study, the results of which are briefly introduced in this paper. The results show that: as the cut height increases, ground vibration on surrounding structures and collapse area of cooling tower decreases. At last, numerical simulation results were used in blasting project, which reduced hazard of collapse vibration and verify the scientific of this method.

The influences of non-metallic inclusions on the quality and properties of the steel not only depended on the quantity of inclusions, but also on the type、shape、size、deformation behavior and distribution condition. By means of ANSYS finite element analysis software, the stress field distribution in the inclusions and the matrix around the inclusions are analyzed under the condition of different kinds of types、shapes、distributions with changeable load in heavy rudder arm steel castings, then micromechanics behavior of inclusions is investigated from angle of macro mechanics.

Impact analyses for storage and transportation cask drop tests were performed using the explicit dynamic finite element analysis code to demonstrate analytical accuracy and benchmark the analytical code. The test series for this benchmarking were provided by Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) as the Structural Evaluation Unit Benchmark Problem Statement. 30 foot and 120 foot drop test cases in which the test unit was dropped from 30 feet and 120 feet onto an essentially rigid target were selected as the benchmarking problems. A comparison of deformation and acceleration between the actual cask drop tests and those predicted by explicit dynamic finite element analysis performed using LS-DYNA was performed in this paper. The simulation results showed reasonably good agreement with respect to deformation and acceleration between the calculated and the measured result by adjusting the material properties of the impact limiter to match the amount of crush.

In order to obtain a linear explosively formed projectile (LEFP) with a good flying form under large stand-off, the LS-Dyna finite element analysis software and arbitrary Lagrangian - Eulerian (ALE) algorithm were used to simulate the forming process of LEFP with a 30mm charge structure diameter. On the basis of that, the only changed factor was the curvature radius of the liner which was selected as 0.65D, 0.75D, 0.85D, 1.0D and 1.1D for the simulation of LEFP forming progress. The warhead speed-time curves and fracture surfaces of the LEFP are analyzed, with liner radius decreasing, the projectiles become more slender, and instead, the larger radius liner forms flat and wide LEFP. Slender LEFP is conductive to penetration, however the over small radius which cause the reduction of weight and kinetic energy makes fracture easily, oversize radius influence either end of LEFP that warps upward seriously , what means speed grads of both ends differ greatly .The suitable radius ranges from 0.75D to 1.0D.
