Although Active Power Filter can achieve good filtering effect and accurately compensate harmonic current, it dependents on the proposed current detection algorithm. The paper first discusses the method which is based on transient reactive power theory; the detection method is based on coordinate transformation. After the coordinate transformation is analyzed, the paper advances an harmonic method, this method can remove three-phase to two-phase and two-phase to three-phase coordinate transformation, and effectively reduce the computation, improve the detection speed. At last, the feasibility and validity of the new algorithm have been showed by MATLAB simulation

This paper introduces the the basic principle of ip-iq harmonic detection algorithm and puts forward a method of harmonic detection for the single-phase circuit. This method eliminates the three-phase to two-phase and two-phase to the three-phase coordinate transformation, thus effectively reduces the computation ; moreover it has the advantages of good real-time performance and makes the digital control easy. Matlab simulation results show that this method can detect the harmonic component of single-phase and three-phase current accurately and in real-time.

The active power filter has two key link for harmonic current detection and respectively compensation current tracking. This article mainly aims at harmonic current detection link. Firstly, Analysis adaptive harmonic detection methods, then based on over to LMS (Least Mean Square) adaptive algorithm as the research object, in discussing the adaptive algorithm criteria. By comparing several simulation-based LMS algorithm to achieve the results of the filter,analyse the causes of the results.

For resolving the problem that power filter cannot work normally because TCR (thyristor controlled reactor) generates extra third harmonic current under asymmetrical voltage, the paper proposes the estimation method of current capacity that TCR generates extra third harmonic current under asymmetrical voltage. Considering extra third harmonic current under asymmetrical voltage, Optimum method based on genetic algorithm is used to design the parameters of power filter. With reactive power compensation and harmonic suppression project of a steel mill as example, the proposed method is simulated by Matlab. Simulation results show optimized power filter can eliminate extra third harmonic current effects under asymmetrical voltage, meet the requirement of reactive power compensation, reduce harmonics current that load injects into system, and guarantee the power filter safe operation under asymmetrical voltage.

The extensive usage of power electronic equipments makes harmonic problem increasingly serious. In unbalanced three-phase system, traditional p-q, d-q method ignores the zero sequence currents, resulting in zero sequence harmonic leakage error. This article is based on the basic principle of instantaneous reactive power theory, it proposes a new type of harmonic detection algorithm, this algorithm does not need phase-locked loop nor do a matrix transformation, and can effectively avoid the zero order harmonic leakage error caused by coordinate transformation.In the end, using Matlab/Simulink environment to build models of traditional algorithm and improved algorithm .Through comparison, the simulation result shows that the improved algorithm is more accurate and more effective than the traditional one.

The harmonic current detection technology is one of the key technologies of active power filter technologies. The development of the harmonic current detection technology directly determines the development of the active power filter technologies. Based on this, this paper introduces some basis concepts of wavelet transform and analyzes its time-frequency localization properties, then, describes the harmonic detection methods based on wavelet transform in terms of program building, algorithm selection and wavelet function selection. The results show that the harmonic current detection methods based on wavelet transform are able to compensate the inadequacy of Fourier transforms and can achieve the functions of detecting the steady-state and time-varying harmonic current of the grid in harmonic detection of active power filter.
