A comparison of linear and quadratic transform implementation on field programmable gate array (FPGA) is presented. Popular linear transform namely Stockwell Transform and Smoothed Pseudo Wigner Ville Distribution (SPWVD) transform from Quadratic transforms is considered for the implementation on FPGA. Both the transforms are coded in Verilog hardware description language (Verilog HDL). Complex calculations of transformation are performed by using CORDIC algorithm. From FPGA family, Spartan-6 is chosen as hardware device to implement. Synthetic chirp signal is taken as input to test the both designed transforms. Summary of hardware resource utilization on Spartan-6 for both the transforms is presented. Finally, it is observed that both the transforms S-Transform and SPWVD are computed with low elapsed time with respect to MATLAB simulation.

Abstract This paper combines the advantages of both VLC communication and RF communication for car-to-car applications to achieve a higher data rate, more range coverage, smaller delay, and smaller BER. In the proposed scheme, the VLC maximum communication distance is chosen as 100 m per-hop approximately, which can be extended through multi-hop up to the timeout window of 5 hops. In contrast, the RF maximum communication distance is chosen as 200 m per-hop approximately, which is reasonable at the frequency band of 70 GHz to 90 GHz due to the high attenuation at this frequency band. A MATLAB simulation for a car-to-car framework is built to demonstrate and compare the BER, throughput, and delay outcomes at a hybrid VLC and RF communication. Our results show that VLC can achieve up to four times of the RF throughput while maintaining low BER of 10-6 and small delay of 10-4 with respect to RF communication only.

Mail transmission was not only the main function of information system, but also the main way of network virus and Trojan horse transmission, which has a key impact on the running state of information. In order to deal with the threats of network viruses and Trojans and improve the level of e-mail management, this paper studies the filtering of information system, and proposes a phishing e-mail filtering method based on Improved Bayesian model. MATLAB simulation results show that the consistency p between the amount of data sent by e-mail and the amount received is good, the consistency rate reached 92.3%. the data security level is 95%, encryption proportion / data proportion ratio under Bayesian optimization are higher than those of unfiltered method, which up to 97.2%. Therefore, the Bayesian optimization model constructed in this paper can meet the needs of phishing email filtering in information communication at this stage.

Microgrids (MGs) are the most sought out and feasible solution for the present energy crisis. MG is a group of Distributed Generators (DGs) interacting with each other to provide energy to a defined local area. The inclusion of DGs into the conventional power system at various voltage levels has altered the topology of the power system and their control techniques. Hence, the MGs can no longer be considered as a traditional radial network but rather a meshed network. The control and operation of such practical MGs become a challenge, especially when operated in the islanded mode. This research paper considers a realistic meshed MG operating in an islanded mode for study. In an islanded MG, the issues of real and reactive power sharing among DGs are addressed so that the power contribution of each DG is proportional to its rating, thus preventing overload and ensuring reliable operation. A communication-based virtual impedance estimation is proposed in addition to the droop controller for proportionate real and reactive power sharing among DGs in a meshed MG. With the increased complexity of meshed MG, the proposed communication-based control scheme offers an efficient reactive power sharing between DGs without the feeder and network impedance requirements. A MATLAB simulation study proves the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy for a meshed MG with equal DG ratings and unequal DG ratings under changing load conditions.

With the rapid development of wireless communication technology, location-based services are playing an increasingly important role in people’s lives. However, as the living environment becomes more and more complex, the existence of obstructions and various scatterers makes the accuracy of traditional positioning algorithms decrease, thus, fingerprint positioning has gradually become a research hotspot in the field of positioning. This paper researches the 5th Generation (5G) fingerprint location method based on machine learning. A massive multiple-in multiple-out (MIMO) channel is constructed on the MATLAB simulation platform, from which the fingerprint information is extracted to establish a fingerprint database. Considering the huge amount of data in the fingerprint database, and under the multipath effect, the channel characteristics are mainly affected by the scatterers near the point to be located. This paper proposes a scattering-based clustering method that combines the particularity of multipath propagation for clustering. Research shows that this method has excellent clustering effects, which can effectively improve algorithm efficiency and reduce data storage pressure on the base station side. This paper compares the efficiency of a modified wireless power transfer (WPT) system with a current-fed dual-active half-bridge converter topology and a complete bridge converter topology for a current-fed resonate compensation network with current sharing and voltage doubler. Full-bridge topologies are widely used in current WPT structures. The C-C-L resonate compensation networks for dual-active half-bridge converter and full-bridge converter topologies are built in this paper on both the transmitter and receiver sides. Due to higher voltage stress around inverter switches, series-parallel (S-P) tanks are not recommended for current-fed topologies because they are not ideal for medium power applications. A series capacitor is connected to reduce the reactive power absorbed by the loosely coupled coil. As a consequence, the C-C-L network is used as a compensation network. Dual-active half-bridge topology is chosen over full-bridge topology due to the system’s component count and overall cost. Soft-switching of the devices is obtained for the load current. The entire system is modelled, and the effects are analysed using MATLAB simulation.

A reporting of Energy Audit in 2018 by LEMTEK UI has reported that air fan system currently used in Power Plant of PLTU Tanjung Jati B Jepara is inefficient, energy efficiency in FDF is only 32% and PAF efficiency is 49.01%. Inefficiency of the air fan system is an impacted there are waste of electric energy amount of 13,352,929 KWh (13,35 GWh) a year with a financial loss of IDR 13,352,929,140. To overcome this condition, variable frequency drive (VFD) is installed which adjusted air flow as needed so that energy waste can be reduced. MATLAB simulation is proposed to analyze the VFD method. The result shows that by using VFD, 8,233,573.444 KWh (8.45 GWh) can be saved a year. Total cost benefits are IDR 8,233,573,444 as 32.1% of saving cost. Efficiency of FDF is 72.57 % and PAF is 66.84%.

Abstract The semi-active suspension (SAS) system is a partial suspension device used in the vehicle system to improve the ride comfort and road handling. Due to the high non-linearity of the road profile disturbances plus uncertainties derived from vehicle dynamics, a conventional Skyhook controller is not deemed enough for the vehicle system to improve the performance. A major problem of the implementation of the controller is to optimize a proper parameter as this is an important element in demanding a good controller response. An advanced Firefly Algorithm (AFA) integrated with the modified skyhook (MSky) is proposed to enhance the robustness of the system and thus able to improve the vehicle ride comfort. In this paper, the controller scheme to be known as MSky-AFA was validated via MATLAB simulation environment. A different optimizer based on the original firefly algorithm (FA) is also studied in order to compute the parameter of the MSky controller. This control scheme to be known as MSky-FA was evaluated and compared to the proposed MSky-AFA as well as the passive suspension control. The results clearly exhibit more superior and better response of the MSky-AFA in reducing the body acceleration and displacement amplitude in comparison to the MSky-FA and passive counterparts for a sinusoidal road profile condition.
