A combined control system for a shunt active filter in the coordinate system of the two-wattmeters method has been proposed, which, depending on the conditions of use, implements one of the four active filtration strategies, optimal according to a certain quality indicator. The most promising is the proposed integral strategy for active filtration control with the reference vector of line voltages of direct sequence, which provides symmetric sinusoidal currents of the network and the minimum pulsation of power consumption for the almost identical energy-saving effect as the concept of S. Fryze. New formulas for calculating the energy-saving effect and pulsations of the instantaneous power in a three-phase system of power in the case of the formation of an active current in the transmission line in the conditions of asymmetry of loading voltage and linear asymmetric load have been developed. Simulation studies have confirmed the adequacy of the proposed strategies and calculations. References 15, figures 5, tables 2.

This paper propounds the incorporation of a three-level inverter based Shunt Active Filter (SAF) in the Induction Heating (IH) system to eradicate the problems due to Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) & Radio Frequency Interference (RFI). The IH system generates a considerable amount of high-frequency harmonics because of myriad causes, the predominant one being the high-frequency switching in the resonant inverter. The former has an immanent propensity to flow towards the supply side and results in the enfeeblement of power quality. Moreover, in the present work, attention has been paid off to develop a proper control strategy of a three level inverter based SAF for EMI and RFI suppression. A new modeling approach of three-level inverter based SAF is proposed and the efficacy and viability of the proposed controllers for SAF in the IH system are validated via simulations in PSIM. A comparative analysis of THD in the input current waveform has been done to advocate the desideratum of SAF as an imperative part of the IH system. Results obtained by simulations show that the proposed approach is more effective than the reviewed approaches on compensating the harmonic currents and thus, the filtering action of SAF is able to achieve the THD of input current within the limit specified by the IEEE-519 standard. Doi: 10.28991/HIJ-2021-02-03-08 Full Text: PDF

The rise in power electronic devices in power system has increased the problems of harmonics and power quality. In this paper I have discussed about the harmonics that are developed in power system due to non-linear loads. The damage of harmonics may rise from normal level to high level depending on their duration and the order of harmonic .So to mitigate this harmonics in power system I have introduced shunt active power filter by series compensation method. In this paper it is discussed how harmonics are reduced using shunt active power filter and it is shown through MATLAB/Simulink .The results of the simulation have been shown where the harmonics developed in power supply has reduced.

This paper addresses the problem of power quality, and the degradation of the current waveform in the distribution network which results directly from the proliferation of the nonlinear loads. We propose to use a five-level neutral point clamped (NPC) inverter topology for the implementation of the shunt active filter (SAPF). The aim of the SAPF is to inject harmonic currents in phase opposition at the connection point. The identification of harmonics is based on the pq method. A neuro-fuzzy controller based on ANFIS (adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system) is designed for the SAPF. The simulation study is carried out using MATLAB/Simulink and the results show a significant improvement in the quality of energy and a reduction in total harmonic distortion (THD) in accordance with IEC standard, IEEE-519, IEC 61000, EN 50160.
