Applying the CAD/CAE method and the finite element analysis system, It was the research of the optimization technology about diesel body of the ship in the casting process in the paper. There are the functions of finite element software and application method in the paper, too. The analysis method can forecast the castings defects and advance the quality control. Applying the HyperMesh module of finite element software, we can cut the optimization period and realize the flow restructure analysis process to large-scaled complex castings.

This study investigated the wind turbine blade root bolt static strength using the full scale static test, selected the root bolts of 1/4 bridge strain gauge using the finite element analysis method and the dynamic and static strain instrument. The data of the stress loading combined tension and bending bolt were obtained.

Abstract The finite element method, which is a numerical discretization technique for obtaining approximate solutions to complex physical problems, is accepted in many industries as the primary tool for structural analysis. Computer graphics is an essential ingredient of the finite element analysis process. The use of interactive graphics techniques for analysis of tires is discussed in this presentation. The features and capabilities of the program used for pre- and post-processing for finite element analysis at GenCorp are included.

The purpose of this study was to determinate , using the Finite Element Analysis Method, the mechanical stress in a solid body , temporary molar restored with the self-curing GC material. The originality of our study consisted in using an accurate structural model and applying a concentrated force and a uniformly distributed pressure. Molar structure was meshed in a Solid Type 45 and the output data were obtained using the ANSYS software. The practical predictions can be made about the behavior of different restorations materials.

To analyse the road-header rack and pinion by using the finite element analysis software COSMOS/WORKS. Compared to the traditional analytic calculation and numerical analysis method, it is more intuitively get 28 ° pressure angle spur gear rack meshing stress and strain distribution, which can rack and pinion improvements designed to provide scientific reference.

Aims The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of the chincup appliance used in the treatment of Class III malocclusions, not only on the mandible or temporomandibular joint (TMJ) but also on all the craniofacial structures. Materials and Methods Chincup simulation was performed on a three-dimensional finite element (FE) model. 1000 g (500 g per side) force was applied in the direction of chin-condyle head. Nonlinear FE analysis was used as the numerical analysis method. Results By the application of chincup, stresses were distributed not only on TMJ or mandible but also on the circummaxillary sutures and other craniofacial structures. Conclusions Clinical changes obtained by chincup treatment in Class III malocclusions are not limited by only mandible. It was seen that also further structures were affected.

Shakedown is a cyclic phenomenon, and for its analysis it seems natural to employ a cyclic analysis method. Two problems are associated when this direct approach is used in finite element analysis. Firstly, the analysis typically needs to be stabilized over several cycles, and the analysis of each individual cycle may need a considerable amount of computing time. Secondly, even in cases where a stable cycle is known to exist, the finite element analysis can show a small continuing amount of strain accumulation. For elastic shakedown, non-cyclic analysis methods that use Melan’s theorem have been proposed. The present paper extends non-cyclic lower bound methods to the analysis of plastic shakedown. The proposed method is demonstrated with several example problems.

Uncertainty modelling with random variables motivates the adoption of advanced PTM for reliability analysis to solve problems of mechanical systems. Probabilistic transformation method (PTM) is readily applicable when the function between the input and the output of the system is explicit. When these functions are implicit, a technique is proposed that combines finite element analysis (FEA) and probabilistic transformation method (PTM) that is based on the numerical simulations of the finite element analysis (FEA) and the probabilistic transformation method (PTM) using an interface between finite element software and Matlab. Structure problems are treated with the proposed technique, and the obtained results are compared to those obtained by the reference Monte Carlo method. A second aim of this work is to develop an algorithm of global optimization using the local method SQP. The proposed approach MSQP is tested on test functions comparing with other methods, and it is used to resolve a structural problem under reliability constraints.

Advanced high strength galvanized steel sheet has been one of the dominant materials of modern automotive panels because of its outstanding mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. The zinc coating thickness of hot dip galvanized steel sheet is only about 10–20 μm, which is a discarded object on the macro level. However, it is obvious to damage and impact on stamping performance. Therefore, this paper takes zinc coating as the research object and builds its mechanical constitutive model based on a nano-indentation test and dimensional analysis theory. We separated the zinc coating from the galvanized steel substrate and constructed a sandwich material model by introducing a cohesive layer to connect the zinc coating and the steel substrate. We obtained the interface binding energy between the zinc coating and the steel substrate through the nano-scratch test. The accuracy of the model is verified by the finite element analysis of hemispherical parts. We used the five-layers element model with 0 thickness cohesive layer to simulate the zinc coating damage of galvanized steel sheet. The hemispherical part drawing experiment is used to verify the feasibility of the finite element analysis results. The results demonstrate that it is more accurate to consider the finite element numerical simulation of the zinc coating, introducing the cohesive element to simulate damage between the coating and the substrate. Drawing depth, stamping force, and the strain of the numerical simulation are closer to the experimental results.
