For the development requirements of high-performance, open CNC system. A reconfigurable and modular upper control software architecture of open CNC system is proposed based on PC+I/O card architecture and Linux software platform. Through this architecture users can quickly customize and develop the required CNC software. Structure model of module with three different levels and each module interfaces are mentioned. Basic consist of upper control software which is achieved by these structure model are introduced. Upper control software modules and communication mechanisms are described. Upper control software of the architecture is achieved on Linux operating system, and the simulation results is given.

In order to find and repair surface damage on KDP crystal, an open computer numerical control(CNC) system has been developed. This paper introduces the hardware structure of the control system, explains the development of an open CNC system software, which has friendly human-machine interface (HMI) and can make the finding and repairing process efficiently and conveniently and also expounds the algorithm and related parameters for servo tuning. With the open CNC system, the process of finding surface damage is accomplished in 3 hours and clear images of crystal surface damage is taken by CCD. And also, with the help of the open CNC system, a 600µm-diameter, 25µm-depth Gaussian repair contour with low roughness is obtained. Experimental results prove that the open CNC system for finding and repairing surface damage on KDP crystal meets the requirement of efficient detection and ultra-precision machining.

Making a study of the design of a NC inserting PC open CNC system from the aspect of hardware and software, this paper adopted a programmable multi-axis controller (PMAC) to construct a hardware platform for the open CNC system on the mode of “PC + motion controller”. Introduction was made to a kind of way of implementation of the open CNC system. The developed system can satisfy the experimental requirements of the university’s numerical control laboratory and also be used to rebuild CNC systems.

This paper introduces a new open CNC system for winding machines which can overcome the shortcomings the traditional winding machine existed, such as the low control-accuracy, the low speed and the poor quality of its product. The system takes Microprocessor MC68HC000 as the core and its working mode is centralized control and time-sharing processing. The highest drive pulse of the system reaches 500 KPPS and the drive aufloesung can be as high as 0.001mm/Pulse. So, the system software, together with the winding machines’ development kits and operating software, can provide an open design platform of the controller for the winding machine, and it may cater to the market’s needs for winding machines
