With the development of Internet technology, cloud computing has been widely applied to various industries as a new service delivery model in recent years. The cloud service providers must provide services for many customs at the same time. So a large number of different applications must be deployed and the application deployment problem becomes more and more important. How to deploy the application according to their different performance requirements has an important effect on improving the quality of service, enhancing user experience and reducing the service cost. However, for service providers, improving service quality and reducing service cost are contradictory. In this paper, the application deployment problem is modeled as the application deployment graph. Then by using the Pareto optimal thought, a multi-objective optimization algorithm is proposed. It makes that the service providers use less cost to provide the better service quality for users.

The purpose of this article is to develop a research model examining the effects on relationship quality of a cloud service and to investigate the continuance intention of SaaS CRM (Software as a Service Customer Relationship Management) based on SaaS cloud service quality of service (SaaS-Qual) model. As basis theories, the study adopted service quality of SaaS and a post-acceptance model of IS continuance. The study also adds a relationship of quality as a moderate variance to validate the feasibility of cloud service. An online survey and a paper-questionnaire were used to collect data, and most respondents were experienced with using SaaS service for CRM for at least one year. The research causal model was validated by using SEM, and all eight study hypotheses were supported. These results indicate that relationship quality played an important role in influencing users' satisfaction and trust of SaaS's CRM service. High SaaS service quality could also increase users' intention to use cloud service continuously. SaaS CRM service providers should focus on enhancing relationship quality through motivational cloud service needs and SaaS CRM service features to increase user satisfaction and enhance levels of trust to promote continued use of SaaS service on the internet. This study contributes to a theoretical understanding of how relationship quality and cloud service can affect continuance intention.

This paper aims to measure the quality of the services delivered by a court by assessing the satisfaction of court users and service providers, i.e., magistrates and court officials. For that purpose, a case study was carried out and data were collected by means of a questionnaire based on the SERVPERF instrument, in which perceived service quality is measured, considering court users, magistrates, and court officials’ perceptions of post-service performance. One hundred and fifty-eight questionnaires were successfully returned. An in-depth interview was later conducted to the court administrator to gain a richer understanding of the results achieved and ask follow-up questions. Overall, findings revealed that court users, magistrates, and court officials clearly have a positive view of the services provided, although improvement is needed, particularly in the court’s facilities and technological equipment. The current research sheds some light on the potentialities and difficulties of assessing service quality in the judiciary and contributes to the validation of the SERVPERF instrument in this context.

The measuring of rendered services in any industry, especially in libraries, remains a critical tool to assess the satisfaction level of clients as well as the quality of the services. This article reports on a study that was undertaken to measure the quality of internet access service to South African public libraries by using the service quality model. The paper was guided by these objectives to identify the service quality models applicable to public libraries’ internet access; to determine how the quality of internet access service fits within the South African broadband policy; and to apply service quality dimensions to public libraries’ internet access. The study employed a quantitative approach and survey design in which a questionnaire was used to collect data from 322 heads of public libraries in South Africa. The stratified sampling method was used to obtain a proportional representation of public libraries. It emerged that most respondents regarded their internet service providers (ISPs) as incapable of solving their technical problems. It was further found that in most cases ISPs applied the internet access policies inconsistently to public libraries they served. The study recommended, among others, that internet connectivity to public libraries be centralised and that a competent provider be appointed to manage this service.

The Internet of Things (IoT) architecture has gained an increased amount of attention from academia as well as the industry sector as a significant methodology for the development of innovative applications and systems. Currently, the merging of this architecture with that of Cloud computing has been largely motivated by the need for various applications and infrastructures in IoT. In addition to this, the Cloud ascends as an eminent solution that would help solve various challenges that are faced by the IoT standard when varied physical devices. There are an excessive number of Cloud service providers the web along with many other services. Thus, it becomes critical to choose the provider who can be efficient, consistent, and suitable, and who can deliver the best Quality of Service (QoS). Thus, this chapter discusses QoS for cloud computing and IoT.

While rail-based public transport is clearly a more advanced and preferable alternative to driving and a way of overcoming traffic congestion and pollution problems, the rate of uptake for rail travel has remained stagnant as a result of various well-known issues such as that commuters either use a more reliable and comfortable alternative to get from A to B and/or that they are not satisfied with the quality of service provided. This study examined the factor of user satisfaction regarding rail-based public transport with the aim of discovering precisely what factors have a significant effect on the user satisfaction and uptake of rail travel. This was approached using both the Delphi approach and a thorough review of the current literature, focusing on a total of nine possible factors affecting passenger satisfaction with rail travel availability of service, accessibility of service, ticket or pass, punctuality, clarity of information, quality of customer service, comfort, safety, and image. Also discussed were 29 extra possible attributes and several measures that were implemented in various countries to increase the service quality. It was concluded that this review will provide valuable information for policymakers, researchers and service providers in terms of specifying the service factors most worth investigating if the quality of this crucial means of transport is to be raised.

Purpose This study aims to analyze the effect of service quality on trust, satisfaction and loyalty by adopting two models, namely, conventional service quality model from Parasuraman and information systems (IS) success model from Delone and McLean. Design/methodology/approach Respondents of this study were users of shared-motorcycle services who filled out a complete questionnaire totaling 507. This research used a second-order structural equation model. All question items had quite high reliability and validity based on the result of confirmatory factor analysis with a value of average variance extracted and composite reliability which was higher than 0.70. The goodness of fit was quite good with the values x2/df = 2.493, incremental fit index = 0.921, Tucker-Lewis index = 0.917, comparative fit index = 0.921 and root-mean-square error of approximation = 0.054. Findings Online and offline ride-sharing services reveal a strong and positive influence on trust and satisfaction. Trust reveals a strong and positive influence on satisfaction and loyalty. Finally, satisfaction reveals a strong and positive influence on loyalty. The research in general shows that the quality of offline service is more influential than the quality of online service in the case of ride-sharing service provided by two companies in Indonesia. Research limitations/implications The sampling frame of the research was diverse, including students of various collages and junior high schools, various private company workers and government employees. So, the results cannot be generalized to all populations especially to all Indonesian customers. It is recommended to increase the number of samples by focusing on the community groups of customers of public motorbikes, so that these groups can be compared. Next, the research finds that both service quality based on IS and service quality models reveal a strong and positive influence on loyalty both directly and indirectly. Originality/value The research uses respondents who use motorcycle services both online and offline. The findings of the research are important for online and offline ride-sharing motorbike service providers. They have to maintain their excellent services to the customers.

Assessing students’ satisfaction of service quality is vital to educational service providers. This qualitative study hence employed the SERVQUAL Theory to explore the perspectives of 30 distance learning students on the quality of services provided at the University of Ghana Learning Centres. The participants were purposively selected and engaged in in-depth qualitative interviews through a semi-structured interview guide. Our findings revealed varied satisfaction levels with the five dimensions of quality of service: reliability, assurance, responsiveness, tangibility, and empathy. The findings revealed that students’ perceptions of the tangibility and empathy dimensions were negative. We thus advocate leveraging the three dimensions perceived to be satisfying among students while ensuring improvements in the two other dimensions that elicited no satisfaction. Consequently, we offer recommendations framed by UNESCO that may be of interest to providers and managers of distance education programmes in similar learning centres.
