In order to meet the needs of the construction information industry base, enhance their ability to serve the community, and improve scientific research projects of market-oriented level, then develop family-oriented and school-based intelligent monitoring software system, the development of new products in the smart camera and mobile video surveillance and development of new technologies are developed. It is considered that the electronic information industry needs to develop intelligent monitoring technology industry, the video compression technology and the use of mobile and existing wireless networks are made, such as efforts are used to complete the smart cameras and mobile video surveillance system development, so the development of application research has implemented the front of video surveillance intelligence information collection, transmission of video signals in real time, real-time wireless video signal transmission and other tasks.

This chapter carries out a brief cartography of the so-called “intelligent” video surveillance systems. These systems are programmed to accomplish real time automated detection of situations considered irregular and/or suspicious in specific environments, in order to predict and prevent undesirable events. Three aspects of the smart cameras are focused in this cartography. First, the author explores its regime of visibility and note how it prioritizes the capture of irregularities in the body’s movements in urban space. Second, the author shows how the type of monitoring and profiling of bodies and behaviors in these systems generally acts at the visible, surface and infra-individual level of human conduct. Finally, he analyzes the temporality of smart cameras, especially in its proactive dimension that intends to foresee and intervene, in real time, in future events. The analysis of these three aspects of the intelligent video surveillance identifies and highlights discourses, processes and operations that are common to the exercising of power and surveillance in contemporary societies – more specifically, those which are included in the realm of control devices.

As people for the need on more security, traditional fixed video surveillance cannot satisfied with people’s varying requirements. This paper demonstrates the framework of a set of mobile video surveillance which support CDMA2000/TD-SCDMA/WCDMA network, RTP protocol is chosen as the transport protocol and H.264 is chosen as the video compression standard. Select RTCP protocol gather packet loss fraction parameter that controls the transmission rate of RTP traffic. We analyze RTP/RTCP protocol and media data transmission process in video surveillance system; discuss the current video transmission method in video surveillance system, the problem of packet loss while transporting video data, and extract packet process of RTP packet.

In order to realize digitizing and networking video surveillance, a kind of excellent technology of video compression is need. In this paper, the audio video coding standard based on AVS-S was systematically introduced, including its development history, target requirements, technical features and existing algorithms. All possible facing problems when AVS-S is applied in mobile video surveillance systems were analyzed. The corresponding solutions were also provided. Especially, how to use intelligent video technology to satisfy with even higher security-monitoring targets was discussed.

A remote real-time intelligent monitoring system based on ARM and DSP for precision grinding machine was reported in this paper. The monitoring system has many functions, such as video and audio monitoring, image comparison, vibration and temperature signal collection, pretreatment and storage, and real-time intelligent monitoring. A signal synchronous processing method based on interpolation theory was reported, because the frequency difference between the DSP acquisition and the ARM transmission will cause lose and vacancy problem in the process of signal transmission. As shown in the computer simulation results, the monitoring system improves the safety and reliability in the precision grinding machine process.

Ambulatory assessment of emotional states as well as psychophysiological, cognitive and behavioral reactions constitutes an approach, which is increasingly being used in psychological research. Due to new developments in the field of information and communication technologies and an improved application of mobile physiological sensors, various new systems have been introduced. Methods of experience sampling allow to assess dynamic changes of subjective evaluations in real time and new sensor technologies permit a measurement of physiological responses. In addition, new technologies facilitate the interactive assessment of subjective, physiological, and behavioral data in real-time. Here, we describe these recent developments from the perspective of engineering science and discuss potential applications in the field of neuropsychology.

Abstract:On-line intelligent monitoring, diagnosis, and control of dynamic systems such as patients in intensive care units necessitates the context-dependent acquisition, processing, analysis, and interpretation of large amounts of possibly noisy and incomplete data. The dynamic nature of the process also requires a continuous evaluation and adaptation of the monitoring strategy to respond to changes both in the monitored patient and in the monitoring equipment. Moreover, real-time constraints may imply data losses, the importance of which has to be minimized. This paper presents a computer architecture designed to accomplish these tasks. Its main components are a model and a data abstraction module. The model provides the system with a monitoring context related to the patient status. The data abstraction module relies on that information to adapt the monitoring strategy and provide the model with the necessary information. This paper focuses on the data abstraction module and its interaction with the model.
