PurposeWith the problem of environment and energy becoming prominent, energy conservation and emission reduction have received more attention. In the using process, buildings not only have the inherent energy consumption but also have the energy consumption of equipment that is installed for improving the indoor environment. This study aims to investigate how to reduce the energy consumption of buildings through utilizing natural resources.Design/methodology/approachThis paper briefly introduces three objective functions in the building energy-saving model: building energy consumption, natural lighting and natural ventilation. Genetic algorithm was used to optimize the building parameters to achieve energy conservation and comfort improvement. Then a two-story rental building was analyzed.FindingsThe genetic algorithm converged to Pareto optimal solution set after 10,000 times of iterations, which took 61024 s. The lowest energy consumption of the scheme that was selected from the 70 optimal solutions was 5580 W/(m2K), the lighting coefficient was 5.56% and Pressure Difference Pascal Hours (PDPH) was 6453 h; compared with the initial building parameters, the building energy consumption reduced by 3.40%, the lighting coefficient increased by 11.65% and PDPH increased by 9.54%.Originality/valueIn short, the genetic algorithm can effectively optimize the energy-saving parameters of buildings.

Following the increasing emphasis on building energy conservation in our country, each city issued a series of building energy-conserving standards, advises, provisions and policys one after the other, the relevant departments pay more and more attention to the wall reformation which supply a broad market to hollow blocks and many kinds of hollow blocks with different structures have spring up. In this thesis , we detective the thermal property of two different kinds of three-row-hole blocks through experiment , analyse the energy conserving index of them and the way of save energy with the experiment result .

The energy-saving of envelope structure plays an important role in building energy conservation, so the first step to save rural residential energy is energy-saving of envelope structure. Basing on the purpose of building ecological and sustainable new countryside housing, this article intensively studies the present condition of energy-saving rural residential envelope structure in cold regions, proposes corresponding energy-saving measures, calculates the quantity and the rates of energy saving , payback period after taking energy-saving measures on the basis of modeling ,and indicates its feasibility and importance.

Building Energy Conservation, especially the research about residential building energy in face of the worldwide energy crisis is particularly urgent. At present, various countries have an in-depth study of the residential building energy to explore different methods, new building materials, and new technology(such as new thermal windows and doors), as well as the use of new energy has been put more attention to in energy conservation field. Comparing the residential buildings between domestic and overseas countries’ progress about related technologies, we could find some evolution and look to the prospects for the future in energy-saving field. We took a domestic project that used energy-saving technology as a practical example, and then made a simple overview of the current energy situation in China so as to get a glimpse of the development about residential building energy-saving. Finally, the article provided some comments about this topic in sustainable view.

Analysis of Chinese current development status of wall insulation technology, aim at the importance of building energy conservation in cold areas. Point out that developing energy-saving building wall is the key to development of building energy saving. In this paper, put a kind of an advanced self-thermal insulation walls as an example in Changchun area. Adopt Tsinghua university’s building thermal environmental simulation software DeST-c. Modeling analysis of building’s heating air conditioner operation consumption in the whole year under three different kinds of walls. Through the comparison we know that the structure adopting new self-thermal insulation wall has the most remarkable energy saving effect.

It is still in the exploratory stage that what role the sub-metering data can play in building energy conservation. In this paper, we presented the sub-metering platform of Changning District of Shanghai, introduced the Energy saving audit method based on energy sub-metering platform, at last, pointed out that regression is the suitable modeling method for energy saving calculation based on sub-metering platform. The advantage of the method is that the platform has the energy consumption data of a single system or even a device what can avoid field measurement and the period of energy consumption data is more flexible.
