The paper considers the residential quarters of aircraft factories in the industrial area of Kuibyshev - Bezymyanka, designed by the Kuibyshev branch of the Giproaviaprom Institute and built in the late 1940s - mid 1950s. The features of their construction and architectural and planning organization are analyzed, the periodization of construction is determined, the building parameters, architectural and stylistic characteristics are shown, the experience of urban planning development of residential buildings is investigated on the principles of creating an “enlarged quarter”, the results of interaction between two design organizations - the Architectural and Planning Workshop of St. Kuibyshev and the Institute for the Design of Industrial Enterprises and Departmental Development of the Aviation Profi le - Giproaviaprom.

Abstract The definition of green building is related to the design strategy and use of technology in buildings to create efficient energy utilization and minimize negative impacts on both the environment and the health of its users. User behavior is a significant determinant because to achieve green building parameters in the technical aspects alone is hard and, in the long term, must be supported by user behavior patterns with a responsive understanding of energy efficiency goals. This paper aims to conduct an initial study that focuses on the socio-cultural aspects of green building users’ behavior in Bali. This paper does not discuss quantitative matters on the green building parameters. Instead, it focuses on formulating a basic knowledge about the influence of user behavior with Balinese socio-cultural characteristics to become a reference at the building management level for the specific green building’s success. The method used in this paper is a qualitative descriptive method with literature review approach. The socio-cultural factor that affected Bali’s user behavior was influenced by green building principles’ technical issues and pro-environmental action in general. The more specific element is culture, local wisdom, and the religious value that leads to environmental awareness. The perspective of Bali’s green building user can be defined as the user’s local socio-culture views, the principles of green building perspectives and organization and management level perspective..

Energy-saving solutions in buildings in Vietnam are a great concern for sustainable development nowadays. However, energy-efficient and cost-saving designs based on the integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and building energy analysis are still limited. This study aims to provide energy-efficient and cost-saving designs for buildings by performing the cloud-based building energy simulation. Particularly, the analysis of the impact of changing building parameters on energy consumption and energy cost was performed in this study. Considered building parameters includes building orientation, wall construction, window-to-wall ratio (WWR), lighting efficiency, daylighting and occupancy controls, and, heating ventilation, and air conditioning system. The findings of the study can facilitate building designers, building owners or investors can obtain the best solution for designing the buildings. The first contribution of the study, to provide an in-depth analysis of the impact of the building parameters of energy cost and energy consumption. The second contribution is to contribute to the domain knowledge promotion of the digital transformation in the construction industry.

During Laser Powder-Directed Energy Deposition (LP-DED), many complex phenomena occur. These phenomena, which are strictly related to the conditions used during the building process, can affect the quality of the parts in terms of microstructural features and mechanical behavior. This paper investigates the effect of building parameters on the microstructure and the tensile properties of AISI 316L stainless-steel samples produced via LP-DED. Firstly, the building parameters were selected starting from single scan tracks by studying their morphology and geometrical features. Next, 316L LP-DED bulk samples built with two sets of parameters were characterized in terms of porosity, geometrical accuracy, microstructure, and mechanical properties. The tensile tests data were analyzed using the Voce model and a correlation between the tensile properties and the dislocation free path was found. Overall, the data indicate that porosity should not be considered the unique indicator of the quality of an LP-DED part and that a mechanical characterization should also be performed.

PurposeDespite the construction industry's significant impact on high energy use and a growing carbon footprint, technologies like Green BIM help to optimize natural resources, reduce pollution, use sustainable space and work on human comfort and health. But the trend in a holistic approach is minimal. Thus, the paper aimed to systematically investigate Green BIM research and implementation trends using a mixed-method and also show the prospects of holistic Green BIM implementation.Design/methodology/approachFirst, we conducted a Scientometrics analysis on the topic using the Scopus database for the time interval of (2013–present). Secondly, the Qualitative Content Review method asserted the Scientometrics analysis result. Lastly, exploratory research was done on secondary data to compare the AEC industry trend for a comprehensive view.FindingsThe merged findings confirmed the partial implementation of Green BIM and of which 43% of research focused only on energy analysis. Despite the potential of BIM and the interrelationship among green building parameters, the result showed other aspects of green building and sustainable design parameters as green material selection, sustainable site, waste management and water-use efficiency not comprised.Originality/valueThe authors propose a new conceptual framework for integrating green building parameters, BIM tools and green building assessment tools in a life cycle of a project that adds into the sustainability of the Architectural, Engineering and Construction sector. The study would help to provoke researchers, software developers and practitioners for further innovative effort in holistic Green BIM implementation.
