With the continuous development of infrared technology, infrared-based detection and diagnosis technology has become a new modern power equipment detection technology. Based on infrared technology, this paper proposed detection and diagnosis method of the transmission line porcelain insulators, including analysis on detection theory of IR imaging sensor, and infrared imaging map introduction. Through establishing porcelain insulator circuit calculation model, computing heating power of trouble insulators, this paper minutely analyzed the heating causes of trouble insulators. The paper provided a reference to the detection of transmission line porcelain insulators, which made it an important measure to ensure the safety and economic operation of electrical equipment.

Nowadays, porcelain string insulators are commonly used in high voltage transmission lines. The study of temperature distribution is extensively performed in the design and development of high voltage insulations. As known, the infrared technology has opened the door to a variety of applications and especially it is also used as a kind of non-contact remote detection technology which has the advantage for detecting high voltage faulty porcelain insulator. Thanks to it, this paper uses the infrared technology to investigate the temperature distribution of the 220kV power grid insulator string. The experiments were done in climate chamber to study. Firstly, determining the thermal stability time of the high voltage porcelain insulator called XP-70 type composing of 14 pieces under the tested voltage of 127kV based on the temperature and voltage distribution. And then the temperature distribution along the normal and fault insulator string experiments. The experimental results show that it may detect and compare the insulator metal cap temperature of faulty insulator in the porcelain insulator string and determine the location of them. And especially based on the unchangeable voltage distribution, it may detect the temperature distribution characteristic for the fault insulator string. Therefore, this research results can provide a reference to detect the faulty porcelain insulator strings

Researchers are working on techniques to mitigate failure rates as low as possible to avoid potential harm, sustain high power efficiency for this a considerable number of estimation studies were already performed and several designs of methodologies were being suggested. The transmission line performs the role of the arteries which maintain the process of transporting electricity in the transmission line. That is why it is important to maintain and manage the costs of these tracks.  Surge arrestor and shield wire application are often techniques chosen for defensive strategy in a very technique. By pushing travelling waves towards the electrical equipment mounted on the transmission line, the effects of lightning stoke on the transmission line may cause severe damage to the electrical equipment. In this review, this research study provides a review-based overview of the mechanism of occurrence of lightning along with its impact on the transmission line and the defence methods used to prevent such effects. A MATLAB / SIMULINK 2020a simulation modeling-based analysis for the incidence of lightning on the 33 kV transmission line system is observed in this regard, and a Metal-Oxide surge arrestor-based lightning fault clearance safety scheme is also suggested and discussed.

Detected the cracks in porcelain insulator is a strategy to prevent failure. This study proposes a remote detect technique to inspect the cracks in on-line porcelain insulator based on laser-generation based imaging (LGBI) method. Two porcelain insulators samples A and B were designed. Samples A is a 10kv porcelain insulator work outdoors, it has five artificial notch-type defects in the cylindrical surface of porcelain insulator. Sample B is a 10kv porcelain insulator work indoor with aging cracks. All defects in two specimens were detected by laser ultrasonic visualizing inspector (LUVI). Images are quite convenient to confirm cracks morphology. The experiment proves that the cracks in porcelain insulator can be detected by LUVI system.
