Volume and the coal quality of coal measure concerns cost accounting, economic benefit assessment work, when we determine the volume of coal, the camera will be used to obtain image information, and then mosaics and fitting the images, get the clear single pixel level profile. Which obtained a clear outline of a single pixel line is critical important for image fitting.This paper introduced Mallat wavelet modulus maxima edge detection method and fuzzy membership function constructed corresponding algorithm of single pixel level, get edge detection algorithm can obtain good effect.

An edge detection algorithm is developed for coal gangue images, and the method has two advantages compared with traditional ones. Firstly, multi-resolution analysis of wavelet transform can improve the quality of edge detection. Secondly, the algorithm is faster for real time. Since the threshold directly from the coefficients of wavelet transform, the rate of recognition for coal gangue is highly raised. The experiment results show that the method is an efficient edge detection algorithm for extraction edges from the noised images of coal gangues.

According to the shortcoming of traditional Canny edge detection algorithm is sensitive to noise and low positioning accuracy, this paper proposes an algorithm of Polynomial interpolation Sub-pixel edge detection based on improved Canny operator: We first use improved Canny operator edge detection algorithm to extract rough image edge, then use the quadratic Polynomial interpolation to calculate on the rough extraction edge, finally refine the edge image. Experiments show that the improved method is better than the traditional detection method can accurately locate the image edge.

Based on synthesizing quaternion and the R, G, B component of color image , a color image edge detection algorithm was proposed combining quaternion with Echo State Networks(ESN) in this paper . The pixel and its eight neighbourhood average is used to calculate vector product as the characteristic vectors of image edge. Then the ESN has been trained by the characteristic vectors. After training , the ESN is directly used for edge detection. Experiments show that this method has good effect of fabric edge detection, and have a stronger ability to keep the details.

The judged pixel and its eight-neighbourhood mean is used to calculate vector product as the feature vectors of image edge. Then the ESN is trained with training samples and the trained ESN is directly used for edge detection. Experiments show that this method has good effect of fabric edge detection with a stronger ability to keep the details.

The coal-rock interface recognition is one of the critical automated technologies in the fully mechanized mining face. The poor working conditions underground result in the seriously polluted edge information of the coal-rock interface, which affects the positioning precision of the shearer drum. The Gaussian filter parameters and the high-low thresholds are difficult to select in the traditional Canny algorithm, which causes the information loss of gradual edge and the phenomenon of false edge. Consequently, this paper presents an improved Canny edge detection algorithm, which adopts the adaptive median filtering algorithm to calculate the thresholds of Canny algorithm according to the grayscale mean and variance mean. This algorithm can protect the image edge details better and can restrain the blurred image edge. Experimental results show that this algorithm has improved the edge extraction effect under the case of noise interference and improved the detection precision and accuracy of the coal-rock image effectively.

The traditional Canny edge detection algorithm is analyzed in this paper. To overcome the difficulty of threshold selecting in Canny algorithm, an improved method based on Otsu algorithm and mathematical morphology is proposed to choose the threshold adaptively and simultaneously. This method applies the improved Canny operator and the image morphology separately to image edge detection, and then performs image fusion of the two results using the wavelet fusion technology to obtain the final edge-image. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has better anti-noise ability and effectively enhances the accuracy of image edge detection.
