The partners in a virtual manufacturing organization readily incline to reduce their efforts for worrying about loses resulted from uncertainties, which might result in various conflicts among partners. It is imperative for a virtual manufacturing organization to design an effective conflict management mechanism in order to maintain the stability of cooperation relationship. Based on the analysis of the complex interaction of integrated workflow in virtual manufacturing, an extensive conflict management mechanism (ECMM) was proposed for dynamically coordinating the partners. This ECMM transforms various conflicts into the basic one between cost and expected profit of each partner, which significantly simplifies the conflicts management process in practice. In order to support the ECMM, a distributed information system with an integrated database was designed for the regionally distributed partners. The solution logic of the system expresses the logical connection of several main functions, such as the dynamic cost planning/audit, partner’s attributes, conflict analysis and solution, and profits sharing management. It is the toughest challenge in development of the information system to embed some artificial techniques into the solution logic.

Abstract In current environment of simultaneous product development, the Internet is being recognized as the best platform for implementation of virtual manufacturing organization located at different global places. This paper represents a step towards the integration of product development teams and introduces a novel method for visualization of manufacturing processes in order to verify the process plans generated. The paper presents the pilot implementation in VRML with JavaScript as a scripting language for dynamic nature of the program. Using the concepts of Geometric representation of the Manufacturing processes a program in C++ language is developed, which supplies data for animation. The results are presented on Internet by developing a web page for Visualization of Manufacturing Processes.

Abstract The fast construction of a Virtual Factory model without using a CAD package can be made possible by using computer vision techniques. In order to create a realistic Virtual Manufacturing environment, especially when such a model has to be created in correlation to an existing facility, a reliable algorithm that extracts 3D models from camera images is needed, and this requires exact knowledge of the camera location when capturing images. In this paper, we describe an approach for depth recovery from 2D images based on tracking a camera within the environment. We also explore the extension of our telemetry-based algorithm to remote facility management, by tracking and synchronizing human motion on the shop floor with motion of an avatar in a Virtual Environment representing the same shop floor.

An approach to the dynamic formation (adjustment) of schedules for distributed photogrammetric image processing in a network of ground centers included in the United geographically distributed information system for receiving and processing Earth remote sensing data from space is considered. Having the fullest satisfaction of requirements of consumers to the satellite images of necessary areas, the approach provides the formation of self-organizing B2B enterprises in the specified network providing information, software and hardware resources of the ground-based facilities of various departmental and other accessories for photogrammetric processing of any received images of the area from the the United geographically distributed information system. It is shown, that a search in B2B enterprise nodes and borrowing the required resources will allow ground centers to flexibly scale physical and virtual means of photogrammetric processing of Earth remote sensing data, quickly form their local structural and functional organizations depending on the current properties of the consumer requests flow for receiving Earth remote sensing data in the United geographically distributed information system, characteristics of the flow of terrain survey materials from orbital monitoring tools, and also take into account the visual and measuring properties of images of the area subject to photogrammetric processing. A method for truncating the set of potential performers of the application in accordance with the existing semantic and other restrictions on the composition of the desired set of performers is proposed. Also mechanisms to encourage ground centers to provide idle resources to B2B enterprise nodes are proposed. They are based on the possibility of receiving monetary or other remuneration from a ground center for participating in distributed application servicing. The development of a well-known model of a self-organizing B2B enterprise creates conditions for a more efficient organization of servicing the flow of applications in the United geographically distributed information system by attracting unused software, information and hardware resources of ground centers of various departmental affiliations.
