In Micro Wire Electrical Discharge Machining (Micro-WEDM), the kerf width varies with different machining parameters, which will greatly influence the machining precision. In order to study the kerf variations in Micro-WEDM, the influence of kerf variation is analyzed and the experiment considering the kerf width and machining speed are performed on self-developed micro-WEDM under different machining parameters. With the reference of the experiment results, 32μm wide slot is machined with Φ30μm wire-tool on stainless steel workpiece.

Background: Micro-Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) milling is widely used in the processing of complex cavities and micro-three-dimensional structures, which is a more effective processing method for micro-precision parts. Thus, more attention has been paid on the micro-EDM milling. Objective : To meet the increasing requirement of machining quality and machining efficiency of micro- EDM milling, the processing devices and processing methods of micro-EDM milling are being improved continuously. Methods: This paper reviews various current representative patents related to the processing devices and processing methods of micro-EDM milling. Results: Through summarizing a large number of patents about processing devices and processing methods of micro-EDM milling, the main problems of current development, such as the strategy of electrode wear compensation and the development trends of processing devices and processing methods of micro-EDM milling are discussed. Conclusion: The optimization of processing devices and processing methods of micro-EDM milling are conducive to solving the problems of processing efficiency and quality. More relevant patents will be invented in the future.

This paper studies problematic of a mechanical system composed of different coupled parts submitted to a high speed shock and proposes analysis of anti vibratory passive and active methods based on an experimental and theoretical coupled approach. After a shock, different parts of the system oscillate. If one of them is excited at a particular frequency, such as its proper frequency, important oscillations appear and can lead to the deterioration of the system by introducing important stresses. In this paper, we propose an analysis in order to understand this kind of problem and what we can do to avoid it. Firstly, we discuss problematic and we expose the studied system. In a second time, we develop two approaches of modeling that allow us to understand the phenomenon by carrying out numerical simulations. Then cross checking of model is completed via experimental study on drop test bench. Passive minimization method of vibrations based on experimental and theoretical coupled approach is exposed. Finally, a comparative analysis of different methods of control and experimental results of controlled system are presented.

The role of suspended particles on Ti-6Al-4V surface in Powder Mixed Electrical Discharge Machining (PMEDM) is studied using SiC powder mixing in water dielectric liquid. Surface modifications due to the additives in dielectric liquid are investigated by means of optical, scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy. The attachment of added powders and surface topographies interrelated with powder suspension concentration, particle size and electrical parameters such as pulse on duration and current. The influence on discharge transitivity with respect to SiC additives is noticed with pock like features on the surface. The geometry and size of these features indicated a robust dependency with respect to operational parameters and indicated the role of secondary discharges during PMEDM. SiC particles severely transferred from di-electric liquid to machined surface at critical operational parameters and implied that the process could be also used as a surface alloying technique.

A number of research findings have found the impact of emotion on memory. Some researchers stated that disgust has more impact on memory, however according to the current study the effect of fear cannot be ignored. Both disgust and fear are examples of negative emotion that may have a significant influence on behavior, such as in the attempt of creating a healthy lifestyle. The current study involved an experiment where participants were asked to memorize and recall four randomly displayed picture categories that elicit emotions of disgust, fear, joy, and neutral emotion. They also filled out a DS-R (Disgust Scale-Revised) questionnaire and a supporting questionnaire about healthy lifestyle. Analysis of the results showed that disgust did not show an effect on memory, but fear instead did. This is related to the fact that most participants showed a low degree of disgust, and so it was not considered a significant emotion that affected memory compared to fear. In addition, physiologically fear and disgust are managed by different parts of the brain and thus it was assumed that they will have a different impact on memory. The findings implied that, in campaigning for a healthier lifestyle, fear emotion need to be instilled in people.
