The development of rail transit and the construction above subway station (CASS) will have profound influence on city. This paper tries to take Tianjin’s practical situation into consideration, and after analyzing the theories and CASS in and abroad, attempts to find objective law between rail transit and urban development in Tianjin from the interaction of M1 (Metro 1 of Tianjin subway system) construction and urban development. Base on the existing problems and experience, this paper puts forward the methods of exploitation above subway station and the qualitative indicators. Then take an under construction station’s exploitation as an example, raising qualitative principles and quantitative indicators to the site construction nearby. By doing this, aim at leading the future CASS and realizing the harmonious interaction between the development of urban rail transit and land use above it.

With the vigorous development of urban rail transit system, especially the construction of subway system, the safety of subway system draws more and more attention. The study of anti-seismic for underground structures has also become an important problem to be solved in the construction of Metro system. Based on the typical underground structure seismic damage phenomenon, this paper summarizes the seismic characteristics, research methods and design methods of underground structures to offer a guide for engineers.

In the current urban rail transit systems, nearly 15% of passengers are noncommuter travelers who use single-trip ticket cards (ticket cards). Accordingly, the effective management of ticket cards is of great importance. This article suggests a time series model for use in predicting ticket card storage based on the characteristics of ticket cards collected by an automatic fare collection (AFC) system. The distribution cycle, station types, and distribution volume of each station are also determined. Then, drawing on small package transportation feasibility theory, an unbalanced distribution model between production and demand (unbalanced distribution model), as well as a hybrid distribution model of loading and unloading (hybrid distribution model), is established. Application of these models to the Beijing Subway system is used to verify the efficiency and feasibility of such a hybrid distribution model. The analysis and results offer insights into usage patterns of urban rail transit ticket cards, providing solid evidence for a relative decision-making process.

There are many ticket gates at the subway station. The managers are quite careful about the load degree of the ticket gates. This paper studies two different methods to calculate the load degree of the ticket gates. One is based on the station ticket gates group as the research object, and the other one is based on the volume of passenger flow passing in and out of the station as the research object. Then we use the data investigated at Chaoyangmen station in Beijing to test and verify both of the methods. At last, we can get the conclusion that we can get the same result by the two methods, but the method of based on the volume of passenger flow passing in and out of the station is more reasonable.

An analytical model and a solution procedure are proposed to optimize train size and headway for an urban rail transit system wherein passengers demand is assumed to be sensitive to fare and the level of service, in terms of load factor and waiting time. It is found that an optimal temporal headway and train size for different demand distribution that maximizes profit and minimize total system cost for the studied subway system can be efficiently solved.

Urban rail transit is one of the important transportation means. Passenger evacuation capacity of subway station is importance for rail operation safety. This article studied the time variation about different numbers of evacuated people under the different stairs width. And it forced on the variation of the evacuation time under different stair widths. By considering the mutual repulsion between pedestrian and wall, and among pedestrians, the article used the anylogic simulation software to simulate and got the evacuation time under different stair-width. When down-stair width is beyond by 3.5m, down-stair-width increasing is unobvious to shorten the evacuation time. Finally, the article explains differences between two results by comparing analysis of simulation results and calculation results.

The present study analyzes some problems of the current higher vocational education on urban rail transit by investigating personnel cultivation of rail transit in higher vocational colleges in China. Subsequently, the researcher deeply discusses the following aspects: speciality establishment, curriculum system construction, systematic textbooks, teaching format, practice and internship equipment, faculty troop, cooperation between colleges and enterprises etc. Finally, the result reveals that the current situation of urban rail transit in higher vocational education is not optimistic, and needs to be reformed.

The past, present, and future provide a framework for this discussion of the fusion of creativity among artists, architects, and engineers represented in the design of urban rail transit stations. The fusion of talent has a highly recognized past. Washington's Union Station, built early in this century, was restored to its original grandeur and is a major tourist attraction in the nation's capital. The power of the state is exploited in the Moscow subway, where stations take on a decorative quality found in the great monuments of Europe during the Gothic and High Renaissance era of architectural history. Transit stations designed in the late 1960s and 1970s in this country have had limited involvement by artists. Washington's Metro has a unique image created by architects and engineers dominating the underground stations. The power of nature in architecture was realized in Atlanta's Peachtree Station, where a rock cavern became an integral part of the station. The most successful fusion of art, architecture, and engineering in the 1970s was realized in the Stockholm Metro's underground stations, where artists were involved in every aspect of the design. The present is represented by five stations in the Seattle Underground completed in 1990—a gallery of art and architecture. Five stations operational on the Los Angeles Metro Red Line and eight more under construction will bring to reality the fusion of creativity. The future may once again see artists, architects, and engineers combining their talents to produce landmarks that will endure through the twenty-first century as Washington's Union Station has done in this century.
