By analyzing the communication principles of ControlNet and combining with the specific production process flow, the ControlNet control system has been designed. Meanwhile, the ControlNet network optimization scheme is proposed and has been applied in the actual production according to the existing ControlNet design problems. The application result shows that the network division and network key parameters setting are very effective optimization methods, which successfully solved the emerging ControlNet fault in the production process and met the control requirements. At the same time, they are worth to be consulted for ControlNet design and optimization.

Supply chain network design and optimization is one of the most important strategic decisions that an organization has to make. SC network design decisions are strategic-level SC decisions because they have long-lasting effect on the firms' supply chain performance and the decisions cannot be changed in a short period. In this chapter, the author aims to introduce the concept of SC network optimization to the managers of medium-sized enterprises. The chapter also explains the importance of the SC network optimization studies, educates readers about how they can benefit from the concept, and tries to show how the implementation of SC network optimization/design will improve the competitiveness of these organizations. The readers are also guided through the four steps of SC network optimization process. Finally, the chapter provides a brief review of the SC network optimization literature and proposes future research directions.

The problem under consideration is improvement of the energy efficiency of a control system of parallel-running pump units. Known methods used to solve this problem are considered. Their advantages and disadvantages are shown. Finally, the idea of a new approach, which is based on online optimization, is proposed.

Abstract By exemplifying the feeder service for the port of Kotka, this study proposed a multi-objective optimization model for feeder network design. Innovative for difference from the single-objective evaluation system, the objective of feeder network design was proposed to include single allocation cost, intra-Europe cargo revenue, equipment balance, sailing cycle, allocation utilization, service route competitiveness, and stability. A three-stage control system was presented, and numerical experiment based on container liner’s real life data was conducted to verify the mathematical model and the control system. The numerical experiment revealed that the three-stage control system is effective and practical, and the research ideas had been applicable with satisfactory effect.
