The goal of knowledge discovery is to extract hidden or useful unknown knowledge from databases, while the objective of knowledge hiding is to prevent certain confidential data or knowledge from being extracted through data mining techniques. Hiding sensitive association rules is focused. The side-effects of the existing data mining technology are investigated. The problem of sensitive association rule hiding is described formally. The representative sanitizing strategies for sensitive association rule hiding are discussed.

Data mining is to discover knowledge which is unknown and hidden in huge database and would be helpful for people understand the data and make decision better. Some knowledge discovered from data mining is considered to be sensitive that the holder of the database will not share because it might cause serious privacy or security problems. Privacy preserving data mining is to hide sensitive knowledge and it is becoming more and more important and attractive. Association rule is one class of the most important knowledge to be mined, so as sensitive association rule hiding. The side-effects of the existing data mining technology are investigated and the representative strategies of association rule hiding are discussed.

Study on the applications of association rule mining in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) knowledge and experience is carried out in this paper. The association rules of disease symptoms and syndrome differentiation, syndrome differentiation and prescription, disease symptoms and prescription are mined by analyzing the cases of patients with chronic gastritis, and then the mined association rules are interpreted that provide the beneficial reference for data mining technology in TCM.

A buffet restaurant is a restaurant that provides buffet food that is served directly at the dining table so that customers can order more food according to their needs. This study uses the association rule method which is one of the methods of data mining and a priori algorithms. Data mining is the process of discovering patterns or rules in data, in which the process must be automatic or semi-automatic. Association rules are one of the techniques of data mining that is used to look for relationships between items in a dataset. While  the apriori algorithm is a very well-known algorithm for finding high-frequency patterns, this a priori algorithm is a type of association rule in data mining. High- frequency patterns are patterns of items in the database that have frequencies or support. This high-frequency pattern is used to develop rules and also some other data mining techniques. The composition of the food menu in the Asgar restaurant is now arranged randomly without being prepared on the food menu between one another. The result of this research is  to support the composition of the food menu at the Asgar restaurant so that it is easier to take food menu with one another.

Data mining technologies are used widely while the side effects it incurred are concerned so seriously. Privacy preserving data mining is so important for data and knowledge security during data mining applications. Association rule extracted from data mining is one kind of the most popular knowledge. It is challenging to hide sensitive association rules extracted by data mining process and make less affection on non-sensitive rules and the original database. In this work, we focus on specific association rule automatic hiding. Novel strategies are proposed which are based on increasing the support of the left hand and decreasing the support of the right hand. Quality measurements for sensitive association rules hiding are presented.

Jakarta is one of the culinary attractions, many tourist attractions every year become creative in business. One of them is a cafe. Cafe Ruang Temu has sales transaction data but is not used to see associations between one product and another. In this case there needs to be a system for finding menu combinations by processing sales transactions. One of the data mining techniques is association rule or Market Basket Analysis (MBA) with apriori algorithm. Apriori algorithm aims to produce association rules to form menu combinations. The sales dataset for January 2019 to July 2019 is determined by the minimum support and minimum confidence values that have been set.

This chapter offers a model for automated library material utilization that is based on knowledge discovery using association rules. Processing the circulation data of the library to extract the statistics and association utilization of the materials for departments is a great achievement that makes the analysis easier for calculating material utilization. Moreover, processing the circulation data of the library, two important dimensions, namely concentration and connection (Kao, Chang, & Lin, 2003), could be explored among departments and library members. This can make the analysis easier by calculating weights in those two important dimensions to make the decision about budget allocation. This chapter analyses the circulation data of North South University Library and suggests that efficient management and budget allocation can be achieved by using the above-mentioned metrics.

During the last years the amount of data stored in databases has grown very fast. Data mining, also known as knowledge discovery in databases, represents the discovery process of potentially useful hidden knowledge or relations among data from large databases. An important task in the data mining process is the discovery of the association rules. An association rule describes an interesting relationship between different attributes. There are different kinds of association rules: Boolean (crisp) association rules, quantitative association rules, fuzzy association rules, etc. In this chapter, we present the basic concepts of Boolean and the fuzzy association rules, and describe the methods used to discover the association rules by presenting the most important algorithms.

Mining of sensitive rules is the most important task in data mining. Most of the existing techniques worked on finding sensitive rules based upon the crisp thresh hold value of support and confidence which cause serious side effects to the original database. To avoid these crisp boundaries this paper aims to use WFPPM (Weighted Fuzzy Privacy Preserving Mining) to extract sensitive association rules. WFPPM completely find the sensitive rules by calculating the weights of the rules. At first, we apply FP-Growth to mine association rules from the database. Next, we implement fuzzy to find the sensitive rules among the extracted rules. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme find actual sensitive rules without any modification along with maintaining the quality of the released data as compared to the previous techniques.

Lotteria as one of the franchises that produce sales data every day, has not been able to maximize the utilization of that data. The sale data storage is still not optimal. By utilizing sales transaction data that have been stored in the database, the management can find out the menus purchased simultaneously, using the association rule. Namely, data mining techniques to find the association rules of a combination of items. The process of searching for associations uses the help of apriori algorithms to produce patterns of the combination of items and rules as important knowledge and information from sales transaction data. By using the minimum support parameters, the minimum and the month period of the sales transaction to find the association rules, the data mining application generates association rules between items in April 2019, where consumers who buy hot / ice coffee will then buy float together with support of 16% and 100% confidence. Knowing which menu products or items are the most sold, thus lotteria Cibubur can develop a sales strategy to sell other types of menu products by examining the advantages of the most sold menu with other menus and can increase the stock of menu ingredients.
