AbstractThe species of the Neotropical genus Hapsinotus Townes, 1970 (Hymenoptera: Banchinae) are revised. A total of 31 new species are described: H. amallullanew species, H. amaquellanew species, H. amarakaerinew species, H. amasuanew species, H. amazonensisnew species, H. bicolornew species, H. brevisnew species, H. chiquitanew species, H. etenew species, H. guntherinew species, H. huaoraninew species, H. kentorinew species, H. killanew species, H. lamasinew species, H. mariannaenew species, H. mashconew species, H. michenerinew species, H. petirrojonew species, H. pittierinew species, H. plaumanninew species, H. prolixusnew species, H. pukanew species, H. secoyanew species, H. shushufindinew species, H. sofiaenew species, H. surinennew species, H. tainonew species, H. tupinew species, H. vilcainew species, H. yananew species, and H. yumbonew species. Hapsinotus is recorded for the first time in Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, French Guiana, Mexico, Panama, Venezuela, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago. The range of distribution is expanded for H. atripleurum Townes, 1970 to Brazil and Ecuador, H. morenus Ugalde-Gómez and Gauld, 2002 to Panama, H. nigrogena Ugalde-Gómez and Gauld, 2002 to Ecuador, H. notaulator Ugalde-Gómez and Gauld, 2002 to Panama, H. parvatus Ugalde-Gómez and Gauld, 2002 to Mexico, and H. transversus Ugalde-Gómez and Gauld, 2002 to Brazil and Peru. A key to the species of the genus is provided.

Furcidentia Zettel, 1990 (Braconidae: Cheloninae) from the New World has been recently recognised as a genus separate from Pseudophanerotoma Zettel, 1990. Previously known from three species, three additional new species of Furcidentia are described here from the Neotropical region: F. jenningsi sp. nov. (French Guiana), F. llama sp. nov. (Guatemala), and F. tikalensis sp. nov. (Guatemala). The species F. clypeata Zettel (Ecuador) comb. nov., F. pulchra Zettel (Costa Rica) comb. nov., and F. sharkeyi Zettel (Ecuador) comb. nov. are transferred to Furcidentia. Additionally, one new species of Pseudophanerotoma is described: P. austini sp. nov. (Guatemala), while P. paranaensis (Costa Lima) (Brazil) and P. thapsina (Walley) (Texas, USA) are redescribed and are here recorded from French Guiana for the first time, thus considerably expanding their known distribution. Redescriptions include the description of the male of P. thapsina (Walley) for the first time and of the female of P. paranaensis (Costa Lima). Identification keys to the Neotropical genera of Phanerotomini and the species of Furcidentia and Pseudophanerotoma are provided.

We propose a revision of the spider genus Corythalia C.L. Koch, 1850 (Salticidae: Euophryini) with a revised genus diagnosis based on examination of all species available to us. In this paper we redescribe all previously described species from South America with revised species diagnoses and describe 20 new species from South America (and the nearby islands). For C. latipes, the type species of the genus Corythalia, a neotype is designated. In total, 52 nominal species of the genus are herein treated, 46 species are recognized as valid. The females of C. waleckii Taczanowski, 1871, C. luctuosa Caporiacco, 1954 and C. latipes (C.L. Koch, 1846) are described for the first time. Corythalia sellata Simon, 1901, erroneously considered as nomen nudum in the present version of the World Spider Catalog, is here recognised as a valid species. Corythalia fulgipedia Crane, 1948 is also considered a valid species and is removed from the synonymy of C. tropica (Mello-Leitão, 1939). One name is considered a nomen dubium (Corythalia variegata Caporiacco, 1954), two are nomina nuda (C. major Simon, 1901; C. dimidiata Simon, 1901). Two species are transferred to other genera: C. argyrochrysos (Mello-Leitão, 1946) to Pachomius Peckham & Peckham, 1896 as Pachomius argyrochrysos (Mello-Leitão, 1946), comb. nov. and C. heliophanina (Taczanowski, 1871) to Neonella Gertsch, 1936, as Neonella heliophanina (Taczanowski, 1871), comb. nov. under incertae sedis. One species is synonymised: C. barbipes (Mello-Leitão, 1939) is a junior synonym of C. cincta (Badcock, 1932), syn. nov. The new Corythalia species are: C. conferta sp. nov. (♂♀, Brazil), C. concinna sp. nov. (♀, Brazil), C. drepane sp. nov. (♂♀, Brazil), C. drepanopsis sp. nov. (♀, Brazil), C. antepagmenti sp. nov. (♂♀, Brazil), C. ricti Bayer, sp. nov. (♂, Guyana), C. protensa sp. nov. (♂, Brazil), C. gasnieri sp. nov. (♂, Brazil), C. verhaaghi sp. nov. (♀, Brazil), C. scutellaris Bayer, sp. nov. (♂♀, Ecuador), C. dakryodes Bayer, sp. nov. (♀, Colombia), C. foelixi Bayer, sp. nov. (♂♀, French Guiana), C. longiducta sp. nov. (♀, Brazil), C. latior sp. nov. (♂, Bolivia), C. trochophora Bayer, sp. nov. (♂, Ecuador), C. lineata Bayer, sp. nov. (♂, Guyana), C. hamulifera Bayer, sp. nov. (♂, Ecuador), C. tribulosa sp. nov. (♂, Colombia), C. flagrans sp. nov. (♂, Brazil) and C. fragilis sp. nov. Cheiromyia carolina Limeira-de-Oliveira & Brooks sp. nov. and C. nordestina Limeira-de-Oliveira & Cumming sp. nov. are described from Brazil, and C. fuscipennis Pollet & Brooks sp. nov. is described from the Mitaraka Mountains in southwestern French Guiana. New distribution records are reported for C. brevitarsis Brooks, C. palmaticornis (Parent) and C. pennaticornis (Parent), and a revised key to males of the eight known species of Cheiromyia Dyte, 1980 is provided. The female of C. pennaticornis is also described for the first time.

Two new species belonging to the enigmatic doryctine genus Evaniodes Szépligeti, 1901 (Hymenoptera: Braconidae), E.palikuri Braet, Ceccarelli & Zaldívar-Riverón sp. nov. and E. wayampisi Braet, Ceccarelli & Zaldívar-Riverón sp. nov.,are described from French Guiana. Two of the three previously described species of Evaniodes, E. areolatus Szépligeti,1901 and E. spathiiformis Szépligeti, 1901, are recorded for the first time for French Guiana. A key to the five described species of the genus is provided.Deux nouvelles espèces du genre Evaniodes Szépligeti, 1901 (Hymenoptera, Braconidae), E. palikuri Braet, Ceccarelli &Zaldívar-Riverón sp. nov. et E. wayampisi Braet, Ceccarelli & Zaldívar-Riverón sp. nov. sont décrites de Guyane fran-çaise. Parmi les trois autres espèces d’Evaniodes connues à ce jour, E. areolatus Szépligeti, 1901 et E. spathiiformis Szép-ligeti, 1901 sont également signalées pour la première fois de cette région. Une clé d’identification des 5 espèces est fournie.

Boana xerophylla is a common treefrog widely distributed in northern Brazil, Colombia, French Guiana, Guyana, Panama, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela. A recent study found molecular, acoustic, and morphometric differences between the populations located on opposite sides of the Orinoco River. Here, we carry out an updated molecular phylogenetic analysis, including new samples from all the countries along the distribution area, and analyzed additional call recordings from Brazil, Colombia, French Guiana, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela. Our phylogenetic inference reveals three geographically restricted lineages: one in the eastern Guiana Shield (corresponding to B. xerophylla sensu stricto), another in the western Guiana Shield, and a third one north of the Orinoco River. Morphological and acoustic data agree with the differentiation between the populations north of the Orinoco River and the eastern Guiana Shield despite the low genetic p-distances observed (16S rRNA: 0.7–2.2 %). We argue that the populations north of the Orinoco River correspond to a new species, sister of B. xerophylla. We name and describe Boana platanera sp. nov. from the southern versant of the Cordillera de Mérida (08º48’26’’ N, 70º30’46’’ W, WGS 84; 947 m asl), Venezuela, and refer all the populations north of the Orinoco River currently identified as B. xerophylla to this species. The new species can be readily diagnosed from B. xerophylla (characters of the latter in parentheses) by a pale orange-yellow or light brown dorsal coloration (dark brown to green), palpebral membrane with dark pigments (pigments absent); pericloacal region dark brown (cream), advertisement call with shorter first note length than B. xerophylla. This study represents an empirical example regarding false negatives behind genetic thresholds for species discovery, appraising the use of integrative taxonomic approaches.

Five new species of Pavania Lombardini (Acari: Heterostigmata: Dolichocybidae) associated with scarabaeine beetles are described: P. brevicaudata sp. nov., on Canthon vulcanoae in French Guiana; P. semireducta sp. nov., on Canthon quadriguttatus in French Guiana; P. pusilla sp. nov., on Canthon bicolor in French Guiana; P. hansreiaphila sp. nov., on Hansreia affinis in French Guiana; and P. copridis sp. nov., on Copris agnus in Borneo, Malaysia. A key to world species of Pavania is provided. The family Dolichocybidae is reported from French Guiana and Malaysia for the first time.

The genus Coeliaria Mulsant, 1850 of the tribe Chnoodini Mulsant, 1850 is recorded for French Guiana for the first time. One new species, Coeliaria monnei Churata & Almeida sp. nov. (holotype male deposited in MNHN: Montagne des Chevaux 04°44’56”N, 52°26’28”W, 75 m, 26.IX.2015, SEAG col.) is described and illustrated. The key published anteriorly is modified to include this new species. Currently, the genus is recorded for Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay and French Guiana.

The Neotropical genus Propetes Walker, 1851 currently includes three species recorded from Brazil and Guyana that share morphological characteristics related to wasp-mimicking behavior. A revision of available material of Amazonian Propetes was conducted, and a new species, P. sakakibara sp. nov., is described and illustrated herein based on males from Brazil, Peru, and Venezuela. Based on the association of males and females from Pará State (Brazil), a synonymy is proposed between P. triquetra (Fabricius, 1803) (previously known only from males) and P. compressa Walker, 1851 (previously known only from females). The female genitalia of P. triquetra is redescribed and illustrated in detail. Observation of bluffing display behavior is reported for the first time for the genus, in P. schmidti. A key to all species included in Propetes, based on males and females, and a map of distribution of Propetes species are provided, including new records of the genus from French Guiana, Peru, and Venezuela.

Rhagovelia apuruaque sp. nov. (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Veliidae), from the commune of Régina, French Guiana, is described, illustrated, and compared with species of the salina group. Brachymetra albinervus (Amyot & Serville, 1843), B. lata Shaw, 1933, Limnogonus ignotus Drake & Harris, 1934, Neogerris lubricus (White, 1879), Rheumatobates crassifemur esakii Schroeder, 1931 (Gerridae), Mesovelia mulsanti White, 1879 (Mesoveliidae), Microvelia longipes Uhler, 1894, M. mimula White, 1879, M. pulchella Westwood, 1834, R. humboldti Polhemus, 1997, and S. transversa (Hungerford, 1929) (Veliidae) are recorded for the first time from French Guiana. The presence of Tachygerris adamsoni (Drake, 1942) (Gerridae) in the country is confirmed. New records are presented for the following species previously reported from the study area: B. shawi Hungerford & Matsuda, 1957, Cylindrostethus palmaris Drake & Harris, 1934, L. hyalinus (Fabricius, 1803) (Gerridae), Husseyella turmalis (Drake & Harris, 1933), Paravelia bullialata Polhemus & Polhemus, 1984, and Stridulivelia strigosa (Hungerford, 1929) (Veliidae).

The Hepialidae species of Trinidad and Tobago are documented and two species are recognized. The new and monotypic genus Wallacella, gen. n., (Lepidoptera, Hepialidae) is erected to include Phassus guianensis Schaus of Guyana (Wallacella guianensis, comb. n.). The male holotype and genitalia are also illustrated for the first time. Potential generic affinities with Druceiella (Viette) and Pfitzneriana (Viette) are considered. Gymelloxes juliusboosi sp. n. is described from Trinidad and Tobago and compared to its congeneric species. The sternite VIII and male genitalia are diagnostic for this new species. The male holotype is deposited in the collection of the Natural History Museum, London, UK.
