Factors which influence computer-based information systems The design and implementation of computer-based information systems have for a long time (and in some organizations are still being) accepted as primarily technical activities. As a result of this attitude about technology, the fact that practically all computer-based systems exist within the context of an organization has been largely ignored. From the literature it has emerged that many computer-based information systems have failed, not necessarily as a result of poor technical quality, but because certain other important aspects, which determine the success or the failure of a computer-based system have been left out of account. As a result of a research project, it will be shown in this paper which factors are the most important in their contribution to the success of computer-based systems.

The design and implementation of healthcare information systems (HIS) is problematic as many HIS projects do not achieve the desired outcomes. There exist a number of theories to enhance our ability to successfully develop HIS. Examples of such theories include ‘fit’ and the sociotechnical approach. However, there are few empirical studies that illustrate how to understand and operationalize such theories at the empirical level needed for HIS design. This chapter introduces a practice support framework that bridges the gap between the theoretical and empirical aspects of HIS design by identifying specific process and information practice supports that need to be considered to actively produce fit of an HIS within a healthcare setting. The chapter also provides an empirical case study of how practice support was used to develop a computer based tool in the domain area of palliative care severe pain management.

Abstract- Computer-based information is very influential in the world of work, as well as web-based information systems are used as a means of information enhancement. Utilization will facilitate a job as well as data processing faster, the decision will be taken more precisely, saving time and cost. In addition, web-based information systems can also be an efficient means of promotion and information resources that can be accessed by Internet users who are increasingly widespread. In the Faculty of Computer Science, the absence of media as a means of gathering RPKPS while the application of the computer and internet and resources already exist, so difficult in adjusting diktat subjects given lecturers against the competence of the study program and for the development of the competence of the study program. The method used by collecting existing data and analyze problems in the collection and adjustment of RPKPS by adjusting to the current curriculum on the faculty of computer science. The general purpose of this study provides an efficiency or improvement in the processing of data dictate course by improving the competence of students towards the department, the specific purpose to create an online information-based system in the collection of RPKPS so well integrated and adapted to the current curriculum on the faculty of computer science, only By accessing the internet and Accessing website easily does not require a long time Keywords: RPKPS, Information System, Study Program

This paper describes three case studies of large-scale decentralized computer-based information systems, two from developing countries and one from the UK. Some reasons for their relative success and failure are analysed, and impacts on the empowerment of staff and management control are discussed. These issues are related to a simple categorization of decentralized information systems dependent on their primary purpose and the approach taken to their design and implementation. Some conclusions are drawn on future desirable approaches to the development of large-scale decentralized information systems in a developing country context, and on the possible impacts of such systems for the empowerment of different social groups.

Computers are becoming more available in Sudanese banks with more sophisticated software and advanced information systems. But factors that might affect acceptance and utilization of these systems by managers need to be examined. This paper seeks to assess the influence of technological factors on computer-based information systems usage by managers in Sudanese banks with reference to the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). A questionnaire was distributed to a sample of 120 randomly selected middle level managers from different banks in Khartoum State and Gezira State in Sudan. Linear and multiple regression analysis and χ 2 (chi – square) tests were conducted to determine the relationship between the dependent research variable (computer- based information system usage) and the independent research variables (perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, manager involvement in system design and implementation, and availability of technical support). Findings of this study suggest that the perceived ease of using the system (PEOU) and the perceived usefulness of the system (PU) have significant influence on the computer- based information system usage by banks’ managers. The empirical evidence also proved that the perceived ease of use and the perceived usefulness were fully mediating the influence of the technological factors (manager involvement in system design and implementation and technical support). The academic and practical implications of the study were discussed and suggestions for future research was presented.

In 2000, Faisal Farooq, the young head of Nirala Sweets wanted to design a new reward system for his salesforce, as part of his effort to professionalise the firm. Nirala Sweets, a 52 year-old firm, founded by Faisal's grandfather was the leading purveyor of traditional sweetmeats in Lahore, Pakistan. The national culturn, the informal manner in which the firm had been run, weak management information systems, and the behavioural complexity of his growing firm are some of the challenges he faced. He needed to think carefully about how these would impact the design and implementation of an effective salesforce reward system.
