As one of the signs of demographic change, population aging influences various spatial categories: economic activities, social features, land-use, perspectives for future development and more. Even though the process is indicative on a national level, there are significant differences among geographically and functionally distinctive regions. Based on considerable regional differences in the development of Serbia, this paper analyses the key problems of rural areas related to the interdependences of population aging and agricultural activities. Research on aging processes, changes in agricultural activities and their features is based here on the examples of two case studies. The Indjija and Knjazevac Municipalities have been chosen to represent geographically different regions - lowland and mountainous. This study uses both quantitative and qualitative approaches in order to achieve a better understanding of the situation. Statistical data were used to illustrate processes of aging and agriculture where data from two census years indicate a trend of changes. Interviews conducted with representatives of local government, entrepreneurs and local citizens from the villages are the source of information for quantitative analysis. Population aging and agriculture are examined separately, followed by an illustration of their interdependences.

Abstract. This paper compares column measurements of NO2 made by the GOME instrument on ERS-2 to model results from the TOMCAT global CTM. The overall correlation between the model and observations is good (0.79 for the whole world, and 0.89 for north America) but the modelled columns are too large over polluted areas (gradient of 1.4 for North America and 1.9 for Europe). NO2 columns in the region of outflow from North America into the Atlantic seem too high in winter in the model compared to the GOME results, whereas the modelled columns are too small off the coast of Africa where there appear to be biomass burning plumes in the satellite data. Several hypotheses are presented to explain these discrepancies. Weaknesses in the model treatment of vertical mixing and chemistry appear to be the most likely explanations. It is shown that GOME and other satellite data will be of great value in furthering our understanding of atmospheric chemistry and in targeting and testing future model development and case studies.

The Asia-Pacific or APAC region covers a vast area of great linguistic, cultural, geographic, and economic diversity and is home to over 65% of the world’s population with disabilities. While many of the accessibility challenges are common and include prioritization, lack of awareness, affordability, availability, infrastructure, language, and training, there are also wide regional differences in areas such as resources, infrastructure, development, policy, and accessibility of technologies and content across APAC countries. This chapter seeks to give a regional overview of digital accessibility by utilizing the DARE Index to analyze gaps in implementing digital accessibility policies in the region, and then reviewing four country case studies (Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka).
