This study explored role of knowledge management practice on the performance in higher education institute at Jimma University College of agriculture and Veterinary medicine in Ethiopia, considering academic staff perception. The study mainly employed quantitative descriptive research design using cross sectional design also used qualitative approach. For data collection, pre-tested self-administered structured questionnaire used. Considering 143 academic staff a population studied using census approach out of total 214 excluding those currently engaged in further study. Response rate was 81.8%. Descriptive and inferential statistics analysis employed utilizing STATA 14. Major finding includes: willingness of knowledge sharing and discovery was at high level. Knowledge sharing, capture, utilization as well as organizational and IT infrastructure support was at medium level. Chi-square (χ2) test indicated there is association between knowledge capture, sharing, utilization, organization support, IT support and performance. However ordinal logistic regression analysis revealed that only component knowledge utilization has positive and significant impact on performance. The study identified challenges in the practice of knowledge management such as inadequate fund, unsatisfactory documentation, inadequate support and cooperation consecutively. Thus college should spend more in knowledge management practice can improve innovation utilized in funding research, enhance team work, improving technology, motivate academic staff to retain and share knowledge. Abstract Background and Purpose: Many organisations are using the e-payment system; however, its effectiveness has not been determined particularly in the Nigeria context. The University of Ilorin as educational organisation started using e-payment system in 2010 and up till now there has been limited or no study conducted to examine whether or not workers are satisfied with the new payment system together with other related ones they are familiar with. It is in the light of this that this study examined users’ satisfaction with the e-payment system at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. Design/Methodology/Approach: A sample of 260 academic and non-academic staff was taken from six out 12 faculties that made up the university. Using a survey research approach data was collected with a modified questionnaire. Five research questions were developed to guide the study. Results: The results revealed that, respondents (93.5%) were adequately satisfied, satisfied and moderately satisfied, while, only (6.5%) of the respondents were less satisfied and dissatisfied. Perceived speed was identified as the characteristics users mostly satisfied with, followed by system security, traceability, and convenience. Moreover, there is significant correlation among the entire e-payment characteristics/factors (perceived speed, security, anonymity, traceability, perceived ease of payment, and convenience); and that all the six factors jointly predict users’ satisfaction with the e-payment system. In order of magnitude of the prediction/contribution to e-payment, users’ satisfaction, perceived speed made the most significant prediction/contribution. Conclusion: Based on the findings, the study concluded a considerable percentage of the respondents (93.5%) are satisfied with the e-payment system at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. In lieu of this therefore, there is need to improve the e-payment system so that all and sundry could be satisfied.

In humans, positive affect is an indicator of activation of the reward system, a neurobiological adaptation guiding motivation and behavior in the context of incentive cues. Disturbances of positive affect and related reward function are defining features of mood disorders and other serious psychopathology, so there are calls for a deeper understanding of normal and abnormal operation of positive affect/reward. One potentially useful avenue of research seeks to understand internal and external modulators of reward function, and a key hypothesis in this domain posits that positive affect/reward is modulated by endogenous biological rhythms. The reward potential of the environment varies with the light–dark cycle, and the fitness of an organism is enhanced by its being primed for environmental engagement when the likelihood of rewards is high (daytime for diurnal species). In all species, the endogenous circadian system is adapted for this purpose. It has therefore been hypothesized that the human reward system not only is reactive to external cues but also is modulated by timing information from the circadian system. Consistent with this prediction, a range of evidence suggests that positive affect is partly controlled by the endogenous circadian system, and there is emerging evidence for a circular relationship between features of sleep and daytime positive mood states. This chapter critically reviews evidence for circadian and sleep modulation of positive affect and situates these findings in a broader understanding of positive affect as an indicator of reward motivation.
