Purpose: The aims of the study were to identify and evaluate the internal controls used in a computerized accounting system of the SMEs, to identify and evaluate the merits and demerits of the internal controls used in the companies, and to identify the challenges in the implementation of internal control systems in the computerized accounting system of the SMEs. Design/methodology/approach: The population of the study was the employees of the SME’s registered with Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) in Muscat, Oman. Samples were selected from this population on a random sampling basis. One-member employee from the SMEs representing the enterprise filled the questionnaire. The survey was conducted through a questionnaire using a Google form. 220 samples were collected from the population. The data collected was analyzed using data processing methods and Microsoft excel. Findings: The study found that SMEs were using computers to perform their daily transactions and the accounting software used by SMEs were cheap, of low quality and not proficient enough. One of the components of internal control system, i.e. monitoring was implemented by most of the SMEs and they also stated that they rarely hired an external auditor for auditing because of the expensive auditing fees. It was also stated that the security mechanisms were not properly implemented in the SMEs because of the expensive cost. Research limitations/implications: The study suggested that the Government should emphasize the SMEs to implement a good internal control system. This can reduce the errors and also increase the efficiency of operations. SOX in Omani context should be strictly implemented making it statutory and mandatory for all the SMEs in Oman and such statutory laws will help the auditors to abide by the rules and regulations to be followed. Social Implications : Government should support SMEs through providing education on the importance of internal control systems as most of the employees of SMEs are poorly educated/illiterates. The Government should set a price ceiling to the external auditors on the auditing fees exclusively for SMEs so that they can afford. Originality / Value: No study was carried before in relates to the impact of the internal control system through the computerized accounting system among the SMEs in Muscat, Oman. This study will through light on the statutory laws required for the sake of internal control measures required for the SMEs.

Internal control system in a company is one form of action used to safeguard property owned by the company. The existence of an internal control system is expected to prevent the risk of errors occurring either intentional or without the element of intent. The risk of such errors can be derived from the various parties concerned. This is one reason that good procurement control system in an accounting system in this case is in the system of cash receipts. From the observation while at Kimia Farma 307 Banyuwangi seen that in a system of cash receipts from cash income services namely health checks and cash sales are still very modest. The accounting system of the cash receipts of the business activity is only using the document pickup. When viewed from the frequency of sales and service checks every day, the system that has been used is deemed to be less effective in terms of internal controls. This study aims to determine in real terms how the internal control system of cash receipts and evaluation of internal control systems at these pharmacies. This research uses qualitative method to analyze the data. The data obtained from three data collection methods are interview, observation and documentation. This study aims to examine the effect of transparency, competency, financial accounting systems on the accountability of regional financial management with the government's internal control system as a moderating variable with a case study in Indragiri Hulu Regency. The population of this study were all employees in all OPDs in Indragiri Hulu Regency as many as 45 OPDs so that a sample of 180 respondents was obtained from this population using the purposive sampling method. The data analysis method used in this research is the quantitative analysis method with WarpPLS version 6.0 as data processing software. The results show that transparency, competency, and financial accounting systems affect the accountability of regional financial management, the implementation of the government internal control system can moderate the effect of transparency and financial accounting systems on the accountability of regional financial management, and the implementation of the government internal control system cannot moderate the effect of competency on the accountability of regional finance management. Internal control helps organizations achieve their objectives and maintain and improve their performance, and the performance of their employees. The Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Tread Way Commission issued an Internal Control — Integrated Framework, to help organizations in designing, implementing, and conducting internal control and assessing their internal control systems’ effectiveness, this Integrated Framework, included the five factors of control system, which are Control Environment, Risk Assessment, Control Activities, Information and Communication, and Monitoring Activities. The research examines the relationship between internal control system of an organization and employee engagement, and the effect that such has on the performance of the employee in the organization, and job satisfaction. This research primarily aims at finding out the impact of internal control system on employee performance in Jordanian companies, especially those in the Jordanian banking sector. Internal control systems will influence employees’ performance in two ways, through having an effective internal control system, or through not having an effective internal control system. The research therefore tends to evaluate the extent of adherence to internal control System in Jordanian banks, its impact on the performance of employees, and finally the recommendations of the researcher.

Assessing the effectiveness of the internal control system in the public sector is one of the surest way to identify if public institutions are working effectively to achieve corporate objectives. The objective of the study is to assess the effectiveness of the internal control systems in the MMDA’S. The study made use of convenience and purposive sampling method to sample data. It was observed that there is an existence of internal control system in the Adenta Municipal Assembly and it is very effective in the achievement of the Assembly’s objectives. The Writer recommended that the government should employ more personnel who are members of the professional bodies such as the ICA Ghana, ACCA, and CIMA into the unit, this is because with their knowledge and in-depth study of their profession it will help to reduce the problems of internal control as highlighted in this work.

This study aims to determine the effect of internal control systems for fraud with accountability as a mediation variable.This study took samples in Ngaglik and Ngemplak sub-districts. Data collection is done directly by using questionnaires. The population in this study is the head of the village or PJ Kadus, the financial section of financial vows or financial staff and some of the Secretary and General Staff. From the survey spread obtained 30 samples. The data analysis techniques in this study used double linear regression techniques and the moderated regression analysis with the help of SPSS (Statistic Package for Social Science) program version 18.0. The results showed that the government internal control system was influential about accountability while the government's internal control system had no effect on Fraud and the government's internal control system had no effect on fraud with accountability as a mediation variable.

The internal control system has an internal control structure that can control the internal control process including the control environment, accounting system, control procedures. This study aims to determine the internal control system, especially in cash disbursement activities at the Sangihe Regency Regional Secretariat which is based on the 5 (five) elements of the SPIP (government internal control system) including, control environment, risk assessment, control activities, information and communication and monitoring. The type of data used is qualitative data by conducting observations and direct interviews at the Regional Secretariat Office of the Sangihe Regency to the head of the financial subsection who knows thoroughly about cash disbursements. The results of the research obtained on the internal control system related to cash disbursements at the Regional Secretariat of the Sangihe Regency are in accordance with the 5 (five) elements of the Government Internal Control System(SPIP).

This study aims to determine how the implementation of the government internal control system and the use of information technology in improving the quality of local-owned asset reports in the Government of West Bandung Regency, Bandung City, and Subang Regency. This study uses qualitative methods and data collection is done by interview and documentation techniques to 12 informants who are Heads of Asset Fields in Financial and Asset Management Agency of Bandung City, Subang Regency, and West Bandung Regency. Data analysis is done by reducing data and then presenting data and drawing conclusions on data obtained according to the method of data analysis for qualitative research. The results showed that the implementation of the government internal control system and the use of information technology in improving the quality of reports on local-owned asset reports in Government of Bandung City, Subang Regency, and West Bandung Regency were well implemented. Each region has problems related to the management of the different local-owned asset.

The construction sector is considered one of the most important sectors that support the economic development in any country as it helps in the development of the infrastructure, and affects the development of other sectors. The study's main objective was to identify the impact of the internal control systems according to the (COSO) model with its elements (control environment, risk assessment, control activities, information and communication, monitoring and follow up) on the operational performance of construction companies in the Gaza Strip. Moreover, the current study aimed to examine the extent to which construction companies in the Gaza Strip comply with the internal control system structures according to the model with its elements. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, it was implemented on (46) construction companies that operate efficiently and effectively in this sector and have organized financial and administrative systems governing their work. Therefore, the researcher designed a questionnaire for the study, which consisted of (49) paragraphs as a tool to collect required data, and was distributed to the sample of the study consisting of (460) individuals as (10) questionnaires were given to each company and retrieved (415) questionnaire valid for analysis (90.2%).The researcher also used the descriptive analytical method. After analyzing the results, the study found that there is a great commitment of constriction companies  to the internal control structures of (COSO) model and there is a statistically significant positive effect for each of the elements of the model on the operational performance. Furthermore, the current study recommends that construction companies need to strengthen internal control systems that are efficient and effective by allowing the structures of their control systems to depend on the elements of the (COSO) model. Also it recommends researchers to conduct further studies on other sectors such as services , trade and industry.

The study investigated the role of internal control system in activating governance principle.The problem of the study if there are relationship between internal control and corporate governance. The study aimed to: Determine the mechanisms of internal control and how to benefit from them in activating the principles of governance. The study seeks to establish the relationship between internal control and corporate governance in the corporation on Sudan.The importance of the study lies in how to implement governance as system and not just knowing governance as concept, and role of internal control in activating the principle of corporate governance. The study adopted inductive approach, descriptive analytical approach, and historical approach. The questionnaire used to collect data from The National Audit champers. To achieve the goals of the study, the following hypotheses were tested:First hypothesis: There are relationship with statistical significance exists between financial control and activating governance's principle.Second hypothesis: There are relationship with statistical significance exists between management control and activating governance's principle. The study found several results, among which is that; Setting a good accounting system that is appropriate with the facility environment contribute in activating governance's principles. Checking the accuracy of information in the financial statements contribute in activating governance's principles.The study recommended several recommendations, among which is that; The use of specialized centers concerned with governance issues, and the task of preparing training programs to consolidate the goals and achievements of governance.The application of the principles of governance should take into account the impact of environmental changes that are undergoing rapid and continuous changes in all economic, political and social aspects.
