The researcher tries to output a sufficient analysis for selected texts of Hemingway to reflect how his characters has demonstrate the image of love. The analysis for Hemingway's texts aims to offer a typical answer to the question, which was to what extent did Hemingway portray the image of love in his selected novels. While going through and trace Hemingway's characters, the researcher discovers that all of them have been emotional where love comes as a changing factor in their life. Love concept has been display in many portraits such as physical, spiritual and love for God. The main themes were discussed and analyzed psychologically by tracing group of heroes and heroines who live, represent and portray these topics though the great modernist American author Ernest Hemingway in his selected novels.

The Old Man and the Sea is a novel that is written by the American author Ernest Hemingway, . The novel is full of religious utterances and symbols. Different translators have translated this novel into various languages. Gabrielle Wahbeh is a Christian Egyptian writer who translated this novel into Arabic.  By reading the source text and the translated text, I can tell that Wahbe’s translation of the novel differs from the original text in regards to religious terms paraphrasing them. The results show that none of the Arabic idioms used in this study have equivalences in English language and so, what is shown are the paraphrased meaning for each  My study will be based on the comparison and analysis of the translation including some examples from the source text into Arabic. The main aim for this study is to highlight Venuti’s translation strategy “domestication “that has been used in translating this novel into Arabic.   Translation is the process of rendering a unit from one language (Source Language) into another (Target Language). When it comes to idioms (fixed expressions consisting of two words or more giving a meaning different from the meaning of the individual words), the translators are going to face a number of troubles. This study focuses on translating the Arabic idioms . The methodology of this study is based on a number of statements collected verbally or through written texts and expressing the meaning by paraphrasing them. The results show that none of the Arabic idioms used in this study have equivalences in English language and so, what is shown are the paraphrased meaning for each.

As the reading is an essential part of language learning process, stylistic and critical analysis of texts are well accepted methods among language learning readers. The following article defines a reading skill as essential as other skills in language learning and demonstrates the accurate usage and theory of literary or stylistic devices such as dialogue, repetition, symbolism, simile, metaphor, and personification which are applied on well-known proses “Shuga’s Sign” by Kazakh writer Beimbet Mailin and “Hills like White Elephants” by American author Ernest Hemingway. Thus, each device is carefully explained with a following illustration of analysis of examples from the proses. Therefore, comparison between the usage of stylistic devices in Kazakh and American proses is also provided in order to reveal the similarities and differences of both compositions.

By reading written and visual artefacts of Gertrude Stein’s life, Gertrude Stein’s Transmasculinity reframes earlier scholarship to argue that her gender was transmasculine and that her masculinity was positive rather than a self-hating form of false consciousness. This book considers ways Stein’s masculinity was formed through her relationship with her feminine partner, Alice B. Toklas, and her masculine homosocial bonds with other modernists in her network. This broadens out Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick’s account of “male homosocial bonding” to include all masculine persons, opening up the possibility of examining Stein’s relationship to Toklas; masculine women such as Jane Heap; and men such as Pablo Picasso, Ernest Hemingway, and Carl Van Vechten. The Introduction and first four chapters focus on surfacings of Stein’s masculinity within the visual and the textual: in others’ paintings and photographs of her person; her hermetic writings from the first three decades of the twentieth century; and her self-packaging for mass consumption in The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas (1933). Whereas the chapter on The Autobiography underscores Toklas’s role in the formation of Stein’s masculinity and success as a modernist, the final three register the vicissitudes of the homosocial bonds at play in her friendships with Picasso, Hemingway, and Van Vechten. The Coda, which cross-reads Stein’s Everybody’s Autobiography (1937) with the media attention two museum exhibits about her attracted between 2011 and 2012, points to possibilities for future work on the implications of her masculine homosocial bonds with Vichy collaborator Bernard Fäy.

O presente trabalho tem como proposta refletir sobre a figura do “herói” na obra Adeus às armas (2002), de Ernest Hemingway. Busca-se prender atenção nos nuances da narração à frieza como ela se dá, bem como a utilização de uma linguagem direta e sem rodeios. A guerra ocorrida, as grandes cidades e os valores em ruínas foram muito bem retratados em Adeus às armas, ainda que não houvesse uma profundidade psicológica ou a presença de uma problemática angustiante em relação à protagonista da obra, nos detalhes é que se pode ver toda a profundidade da produção e a forma direta, mas subjetiva dos valores que permeavam a sociedade da época e que remetem às características intrínsecas à natureza humana. É no decorrer do enredo da obra que se atentará para os valores adotados por Henry e se buscará observar sua natureza como anti-herói, que se utiliza de todos os artifícios possíveis, inclusive da mentira, para alcançar seus objetivos, aumentando seu sentimento de prazer.Palavras-chave: Personagem.
