This Research aimed at finding the effect of Peer Feedback strategy towards fifth semester students’ ability in translation subject at S1 Degree of English Department FBMB, Mandalika University. This research was quasi experimental design of experimental research. The population was 3 classes (118 students), in which 2 classes were selected as the sample that was divided into two groups; Class A with 30 students as the experimental group and Class B with 30 students as the control, the groups were divided by using Simple Random Sampling technique. The data collection got from translation test of translating texts given, then the data were analyzed by using SPSS 2019 computer program for windows 10. The result showed that the significant value of = 0.000 was lower than 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the students in Class A who were taught by using Peer Feedback strategy have higher score in translation than the students of Class B who were taught by using the grammar translation strategy. Based on the conclusion, the researcher suggested that Peer Feedback strategy should be used to teach translation for the fifth semester students at S1 degree of English Department of FBMB, Mandalika University.

The aim of this article is to identify and outline the strategy applied by Marian Polak-Chlabicz in translating the poetry of Bolesław Leśmian into English. The examination begins with the preliminary norm as refl ected in text selection, and the initial norm, which proves to be oriented toward recreating the strangeness of the author’s poetics. Examination of particular elements of the poetics includes the translator’s attitude to Leśmian’s neologisms and other creative language deviations, issues of syntax and of poetic form, and ideational contents of the poems. Also discussed are editorial problems and issues connected with paratexts.

The importance of ICT usage implementation in the startup project is analyzed. It has been proved that translation is of great importance for any startup project for establishing relationships with potential clients around the world. The role of the translator in the startup project is investigated. Translation has been proven to be important for any startup project to build relationships with potential clients around the world. A comprehensive analysis of the translation of startup projects from Ukrainian into English using the latest information and communication technologies in this process. Peculiarities of using modern ICT in translating the description of startup projects from Ukrainian into English are revealed. Exploring the use of information and computer technology in the translation process. It is determined that it is important for a translator of a startup project to understand all the features of using the software, choose the appropriate programs or online tools and develop a strategy for the translation process in the project. The results of this work are very important and necessary for further study of the features of the use of ICT in the translation of startup projects

Abstract This article focuses on the image of the past in two translations produced in the contexts of the Arab Nahḍah and of the Italian Risorgimento. The first translation is the Italian rendering of ʿOmar ibn al-Fāriḍ’s mystical poems, published in 1872 by Pietro Valerga (1821-1903). The second is the Arabic translation of the Iliad, published in 1902 by Sulaymān al-Bustānī (1856-1925). Both translators refer to the past as a translation strategy: Pietro Valerga reads Ibn al-Fāriḍ through the verses of Petrarch and, in his work’s introduction, emphasizes the transmission of medieval Arab poetry to Italy; Sulaymān al-Bustānī reconstructs the world of the Iliad through Arabic poetic tradition and compares Greece to the ǧāhiliyyah (pre-Islamic age). The article sheds light on the potential of translation as a space of re-imagination of the past and invites us to read the works as two distinct, yet akin, attempts to express original interpretations of Italian and Arabic literary histories based on syncretism and cross-cultural translatability.

This paper deals with the autonyms or the widespread, orthographically indeterminate use of italics and quotation marks in Slovene translations of three of Houellebecq’s novels, which have been elaborated by three different Slovene translators. Autonyms are divided into three main categories according to whether they convey the words of definite or indefinite individuals, the language of the narrator himself or the concepts and values of the whole society. Within the framework of a style often qualified as “white”, the extended use of italics and quotation marks with function of autonymic connotation allows the author to transmit to the reader very fine semantic nuances and contributes to the richness of his work. Like metaphorical networks, stylems such as the recurrent and extended use of italics and quotation marks require from the translator a preliminary work of interpretation and the development of a coherent strategy making it possible to preserve intact the function of these elements in the narrative. Although the three translations analysed can be considered as globally faithful to Houellebecq’s texts and made possible the notoriety of the French writer in Slovenia, none of them is distinguished by a rigorous and coherent treatment of autonymic connotations indicated by non-normative use of italics and quotation marks. The most frequent and damaging anomalies are the maintenance of these visual signs where the expressions indicated in French do not have to be in Slovenian or, on the contrary, their elimination where it is perfectly possible and appropriate to maintain them for the detailed understanding of the text. The author draws attention to possible solutions and opts for the elaboration of a consistent translation strategy for the treatment of the analysed elements.

The aim of the research is to analyze the adaptation of terminologies, vocabularies and phrases from English to Indonesian. The research was descriptive qualitative research in order to answer the research problem definitely. The data of the study were taken from a biography written by Tracy Wright Webster entitled Reflection on Raden Ajeng Kartini, while the translation is done by the author itself. The total number of data found was 75 Javanese cultural concepts. Then, the data were grouped into several culture categories before presented in the analysis. The result shows that there are three basic aspects that determine the translator in carrying the adaptation strategy with the Javanese culture. Those aspects are cultural factor, linguistic factor and the translator's preference. The aspects influencing the translation strategy that the translator carries is language and Indonesian modern history. In conclusion, the translation strategy of adaptation that is carried by the translator is actually dynamic. It is because in translating the Javanese cultural concepts are alternated or even hybridized, depending upon the translator's intention whether she wants to introduce the cultural concepts to the TL reader or not. However, apart from the limitation of the biography of Reflection on Raden Ajeng Kartini translation, the English version is still important for foreigners to know more about Indonesian history, culture and society.

This study focused on the analysis of the translation strategies and resulted translation quality in rendering metaphors found in the Twilight novel. The analysis involved the translation strategies by Newmark (1988) and translation quality by Hartono (2016). The results showed that there were seven translation strategies utilized by the translator in rendering the metaphors in the Twilight novel from Indonesian into English with total metaphors were 164. Those metaphors were translated using translation strategies: reproducing the same metaphorical image in the target language 48 times (29%), replacing the metaphorical image in the source language with a standard metaphorical image in the target language with 25 times (15%), translating metaphor by simile by maintaining the metaphorical image with 20 times (12%), translating metaphor by simile plus sense with 13 times (8%), converting a metaphor to its sense or meaning only with 44 times (29%), deleting metaphor with 7 times (4%), and translating metaphor by the same metaphor with the sense or meaning added with 7 times (4%). In terms of content quality, the translation of metaphors was dominated by good content, presentation, and mechanics quality. Moreover, the application of each translation strategy would result in different types of translation quality in terms of content, presentation and mechanics. In addition, it is suggested that the employment of translation strategy in rendering metaphor should consider deeply the existence of the same metaphor both in the source language and target language because the quality of the translation will be determined by the translation strategies.

The article discusses different approaches to localization – as one of translation strategies and as a separate tool for rendering language messages in another language. The study is done with the help of comparative linguistic analysis of original movie titles in the English language and their official Russian versions. We study ways of rendering of the film titles in the target language and reveal some reasons for localization. In conclusion, we provide a list of motives for language localization of the movie titles: 1) tendency to build the name of a new film into the system of films already known to the Russian viewer or other cultural realities with the help of socalled "references" to familiar nominations; 2) give additional advertising to the film, 3) make the film more attractive to a specific target audience.

The article is devoted to the various tactics and strategies for translating scientific terminology into Bulgarian against the background of Russian and Serbian. Different tactics for the concept of translation strategy are presented. An analysis of a number of similar difficulties for all three Slavic languages, which could be encountered in the translation of terminological units, has been made.
