ABSTRACT Aim The aim of this case report was to restore the esthetic smile of a patient with agenesis of maxillary right central incisor, while discussing the most important topics in a multidisciplinary approach. Background Due to the absence or loss of some teeth in the anterior region, it becomes a challenge in oral rehabilitation. Restoration of function and esthetics may require a multidisciplinary treatment that can start with periodontal, orthodontic, surgical, implantology, or restorative evaluation. Case report A 28-year-old patient with agenesis of the maxillary right central incisor was looking to improve the esthetics of his smile. The patient had right superior lateral incisor positioned in place of the central and the canine in the position corresponding to the lateral incisor, which compromised the dental and gingival esthetics. After analyses and digital smile design (DSD), surgeries for gingival smile correction, gingivectomy (teeth 12, 14, and 15), and gingival tissue grafts (tooth 13) were made. After a period of 2 months, preparations were made on teeth 12, 13, and 14 for ceramic laminates following the initial DSD. After 1 year of cementation, maintenance and stability of gingival margin, as well as the integrity of laminate ceramic were observed. Conclusion In conclusion, a correct prior planning of esthetic rehabilitation is the best way to achieve excellent results to meet the needs and objectives of each patient. Often, a multidisciplinary treatment involving surgical and restorative procedures should be taken into consideration, with the appropriate choice of techniques and materials to be used. Clinical significance The treatment performed on the patient allowed the esthetic improvement of gingival architecture and installation of ceramic restorations with function and esthetics similar to natural teeth. ABSTRACT Objective: The aim of the study was to analyze the distribution of color parameters, lightness (L*), chroma (C), hue (H), a* and b*, in the intercanine sector in maxilla. Material and Methods: Patients' tooth color measurements were performed using an intraoral spectrophotometer VITA Easyshade® (VITA Zahnfabrik H. Rauter GmbH and Co. KG, Bad Sackingen, Germany). The measurements were made in 255 subjects in the intercanine sector in maxilla. Results: The mean values for the group of 255 subjects were as follows: L*, a*, b*, C, and H as 81.6, 0.67, 21.6, 21.7, and 92.7, respectively. For F=206.27 and P < 0.001 between L*, a*, b*, C, H, and central incisor/lateral incisor/canines, there were statistically significant differences. Conclusion: With the statistical analysis, it was determined that there are significant color differences between the teeth of the intercanine sector, which differences are clinically significant also.

This report describes a rare case of hypoplastic primary incisor in which the pulp was exposed at the crown portion and covered by the gingiva in a 1-year-11-month-old boy. The patient was referred to us due to swelling of his labial cervical gingiva of the maxillary right primary central incisor, and on examination, extended to the hypoplastic labial surface. Radiographically, there was a round radiolucent area on the crown including the edge. Surgical removal of the swollen gingiva revealed a large defect of the labial aspect of the incisor, showing pulpal tissue inside. The tooth was treated by vital pulpotomy. Histopathologically, the removed gingival tissue contained many pieces of dysplastic tooth elements in the lamina propria portion which should have been connected to the exposed pulp. The findings suggested that pulp exposure resulted from focal dental hypoplasia not from resorption of the tooth.

A supernumerary tooth is an entity in addition to the normal series of teeth that, although rare, can be fused to a tooth, whether deciduous or permanent. Diagnosis and management in cases involving supernumerary teeth in the anterior region of the maxilla are often challenging. The clinical examination associated with the radiographic examination is decisive for the diagnosis and planning of cases. This article describes a case of unilateral fusion of a supernumerary tooth to a permanent upper lateral incisor, in which clinical and radiographic diagnosis was essential for a conservative approach. Maxillary lateral incisors are generally considered as a tooth with a single root and single canal. This is not true in all cases as case reports have advocated maxillary lateral incisors showing two roots with two or three root canals, Thorough knowledge of the internal and external dental anatomy and its variations is essential for a successful endodontic treatment. This case report deals with the periapical surgery in a two rooted maxillary lateral incisor along with the central incisor.

ABSTRACT Immediate esthetic rehabilitation is a common practice in contemporary restorative dentistry. Sometimes without a precise diagnosis and clinical planning, two or three clinical sessions have been sufficient to start and end an extensive all-ceramic oral rehabilitation. It is essential, however, for these treatments to be based on the biological, mechanical, and occlusal principles that have been established for decades, and not only on aesthetic considerations. In this case report, a 26 year-old bruxist patient with functional and aesthetic needs, was rehabilitated with ceramic restorations in the six maxillary anterior teeth, through an interdisciplinary approach. The diagnostic wax-up was essential to predict the outcome; guide the periodontal surgery; serve as a reference for dental preparations, and restore the dynamics of jaw movements. After the adhesive cementation, a protective occlusal splint for use during sleep was introduced. The authors concluded that careful diagnosis and planning was critical to outcome of this case, and that the quality and longevity of restorative treatment depended on the respect for biomechanical, occlusal, and aesthetic concepts.

This article describe the treatment of a boy of 15 years old, with Class I malocclusion and anterior crowding and rotated upper right central incisor. The patient had thick and fleshy extra labial frenum between upper right central and lateral incisor. The patient had also rotated supernumerary tooth labial to upper right lateral incisor. Background: The occurrence of an orofacial trauma can originate health, social, economic and professional problems. A 13-year boy suffered the avulsion of tooth 11 and 21, lost at the scenario. Methods: Three intraoral appliances were manufactured: A Hawley appliance with a central expansion screw and two central incisors (1), trumpet edentulous anterior tooth appliance (2) and a customized splint (3) were designed as part of the rehabilitation procedure. Objectively assessing the sound quality of the trumpet player with these new devices in terms of its spectral, temporal, and spectro-temporal audio properties. A linear frequency response microphone was adopted for precision measurement of pitch, loudness, and timbre descriptors. Results: Pitch deviations may result from the different intra-oral appliances due to the alteration of the mouth cavity, respectively, the area occupied and modification/interaction with the anatomy. This investigation supports the findings that the intra-oral appliance which occupies less volume is the best solution in terms of sound quality. Conclusions: Young wind instrumentalists should have dental impressions of their teeth made, so their dentist has the most reliable anatomy of the natural teeth in case of an orofacial trauma. Likewise, the registration of their sound quality should be done regularly to have standard parameters for comparison.

Maxillary central incisor is the most commonly affected tooth during trauma followed by maxillary lateral incisor and mandibular incisors. Trauma to the anterior tooth requires urgent care because of the essentiality of preserving the natural tooth. When a complicated crown a fracture takes place, it necessitates endodontic treatment and restoration of a fractured crown segment with post in the canal. This case report describes a patient with a broken central incisor and treated with a Richmond crown.
