The paper deals with the sorption of lanthanum ions by an interpolymer system consisting of sulfonic cation exchanger KU2-8 and anion exchanger AV-17-8. To predict the sorption activity of the intergel system, the mutual activation of the KU2-8 sulfonic cationite with the AV-17-8 anionite in the aqueous medium was initially studied. Due to the mutual activation of hydrogels in the course of their remote interaction, the polymer macromolecules pass into a highly ionized state, which leads to a significant increase in the degree of extraction of lanthanum ions from polymer hydrogels in intergel vapors as compared to the initial polymers. We calculated the degree of extraction of lanthanum ions by the interpolymer system KU2-8: AV-17-8, the degree of binding of the polymer chain (in relation to lanthanum ions) with the initial ion exchangers and the interpolymer system KU2-8: AV-17-8. Based on the data obtained, a comparative analysis of the sorption of lanthanum ions by individual sorbents and an interpolymer system was carried out within the limits of the ratio KU2-8: AV-17-8 = 5: 1–1: 5. It has been established that the maximum degree of sorption of lanthanum ions by the KU2-8: AV-17-8 interpolymer system is observed within the ratio KU2-8: AV-17-8 = 2: 4 at 48 hours of remote interaction of the interpolymer system and is 54.73 mol. %, at which the degree of binding of the polymer chain is 6.15%

In this article the kinetics of the process of sorption of copper (II) ions from aqueous solutions by polymer sulfonic cation exchanger, an elementary unit containing a heterocycle and a sulfonic group, under static conditions at a temperature of 298 K and a copper concentration of 2 mmol / mg is investigated. The sulfonic cation exchanger was preliminarily obtained by the reaction of polycondensation of diphenyl oxide and furfural with further sulfonation to obtain functional ionogenic groups in order to increase the extraction efficiency. The obtained kinetic curves of the dependence of the degree of extraction of copper ions from solution on time were processed using the Boyd, Adamson, and Myers equation, which describes diffusion in a limited volume of solution. The kinetic parameters of the sorption process (effective diffusion coefficient, etc.) are calculated, and the results obtained are compared with the data for the traditionally used industrial cation exchanger, which is a copolymer of styrene and divinyl benzene. It has been established that the process of sorption of copper (II) ions in the sulfonic cation exchanger phase is of an intra diffusion nature and corresponds to second-order kinetic equations.

The processes of sorption of pyridine-3-carboxylic (nicotinic) and pyridine-4-carboxylic (isonicotinic) acids by sulfonic acid cation exchangers of the polystyrene type (CU-2-4 and CU-2-8) from aqueous solutions with different pH values were studied. Analysis of the FTIR spectra of isonicotinic acid, isonicotinic acid sulfate, and CU-2-8 sulfonic cation exchanger filled with isonicotinic acid showed that pyridinecarboxylic acid is in the protonated form in the polymer phase. Experimental data of the equilibrium distribution of acids in the aqueous solution-cation exchange system have been obtained. The values of the equilibrium constants for ion exchange and ligand sorption processes involving various forms of pyridinecarboxylic acid, sulfonic cation exchanger, and protons were calculated. The equilibrium constants for the ion exchange of sulfocationite protons by pyridinecarboxylic acid cations from solution are in the range 3.3-4.4. The selectivity of sulfonic cation exchangers to cations increases in the sequences proton < nicotinic acid cation < isonicotinic acid cation. The values of the equilibrium constant for ligand sorption of molecules are 195-220 dm3/mol for isonicotinic acid and reach 320-330 dm3/mol for nicotinic acid, i.e. the sorption activity of the H-form of the cation exchanger is higher in relation to nicotinic acid molecules. A change in the amount of a crosslinking agent (from 4% to 8% divinylbenzene) in a polystyrene type sulfonic cation exchanger does not significantly affect its sorption activity towards pyridinecarboxylic acids.

Uranyl ions sorption of by interpolymer system consisting of polyacrylic acid hydrogel (hPAA) and polyethyleneimine hydrogel (hPEI) has been studied. Rate of uranyl ions extraction by the initial polymers and interpolymer system hPAA-hPEI, polymeric chain binding rate and dynamic exchange capacity of initial polymers and interpolymer system hPAA-hPEI were calculated. Based on obtained outcomes it was found that area of maximum rate of uranyl ions extraction is within the ratios of 67%hPAA:33%hPEI and 33%hPAA:67%hPEI. Maximum uranyl ions extraction rate after 48 hours of hydrogels remote interaction was 90.0 %, when polymeric chain binding rate was 9.1 % and dynamic exchange capacity was 1.14 mmol/g. Rate of uranyl ions extraction by the initial polymer hydrogels 100 % hPAA and 100 % hPEI was 68.0 % and 52.0%. Obtained outcomes showed changes of initial polymeric hydrogels sorption properties in intergel system leading to functional groups obtaining higher reactive ability, which makes it possible to use them for further development of highly efficient uranyl ions extraction sorption technology.

The article provides information about sorption properties of crab chitosan in relation to Analgin, Aspirin, Quamatel, Mydocalm, Paracetamol, Tsifran and Phtalazol. Quantitative determination of medicines’ amount before and after sorption was performed by HPLC-MS method with the preliminary plotting of calibration curves. The sorption capacity of chitosan taken in different concentrations was determined. Sorption isotherms and kinetic curves of medications’ sorption by chitosan were plotted. It has been shown that the maximum degree of sorption in static conditions for all studied medicines was achieved within an hour after the beginning of the sorption process.

Parameters of the equilibrium sorption of phenylalanine and histidine on clinoptilolite from aqueous solutions containing the individual amino acids and their mixtures were presented. The contribution of exchange and non-exchange components in the adsorption capacity of clinoptilolite was determined. It was found that the interfacial distribution of amino acids is determined by the ratio of CHis / CPhe and manifested in sorption equilibrium characteristics. The maximum degree of extraction of histidine is achieved at the ratio of CHis / CPhe equals to 1: 3.
