The current study was heading for determining the impact of Pakistani university students’ socioeconomic classes on their personality traits. Demographic and personality questionnaires were filled by available university students online. The stepwise regression technique facilitated to generate regression models to define impacts of different socioeconomic classes on students’ different personality traits. Different regression models highlighted the significant negative impacts of the middle upper socioeconomic class on Agreeableness, Extraversion and Neuroticism personality traits. The lower socioeconomic class was found to have positive impact on only one personality sub-trait self-discipline. Whereas, the upper lower socioeconomic class caused positive impacts on students’ trust sub-trait, Conscientiousness trait and negative impact on excitement seeking sub-trait of personality. The importance of these impacts of socioeconomic classes on different personality traits and the possible implications are discussed with respect to university students’ academic performance and academic behaviour.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of case study-based learning on student’s engagement, learning motivation and learning performance among university students of Pakistan. Design/methodology/approach The research model is analyzed with structural equation modeling. The analysis is done with the application of the measurement model and the structural model. Findings The findings revealed that case study-based learning enhances student engagement, and a significant and positive relationship between case-based learning and all four aspects of engagement, i.e. behavioral, emotional, cognitive and agentic engagement, was observed statistically. According to the findings, case-based learning leads toward an understanding of concepts learned in class and the development of skills among students and results in the enhancement of learning motivation. Furthermore, it is suggested by the results that the impact of student engagement on learning performance varies with respect to its different aspects. As among all the four aspects, only agentic engagement was found to be statistically significant in establishing the link with the learning performance of the students. Research limitations/implications The mixed findings pertaining to the impact of student engagement’s aspects on learning performance of the students pave the way for future research. The future researchers should incorporate individual traits and the specific context to analyze the relationships between the proposed constructs because students vary in their responses to learning activities. Practical implications The present study holds significance for the field of educational research and emphasizes the importance of incorporating case-based teaching in the higher education curriculum in order to ensure the implementation of effective learning strategies. Also, this research will be beneficial for future researchers in understanding the phenomenon of student learning and engagement. Originality/value In view of the limited academic literature in the Asian context, the present study extends the findings and examined the impact of case-based learning on student’s engagement, student’s learning motivation and the role of such engagement in enhancing learning performance of university students.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to present the self-described “journey” of a person with dementia (Brian; author 3) in his re-learning of old technologies and learning of new ones and the impact this had on his life. Design/methodology/approach – This is a single case study detailing the participant's experiences collaborating with a researcher to co-create methods of facilitating this learning process, which he documented in the form of an online blog and diary entries. These were analysed using NVivo to reveal the key themes. Findings – Brian was able to relearn previously used technologies and learn two new ones. This lead to an overarching theme of positive outlook on life supported by person-centredness, identity and technology, which challenged negative perceptions about dementia. Research limitations/implications – The paper provides an example of how learning and technology improved the life of one person with dementia. By sharing the approach the authors hope to encourage others to embrace the challenge of designing and developing innovative solutions for people with a dementia diagnosis by leveraging both current mainstream technology and creating novel bespoke interventions for dementia. Originality/value – The personal perspective of a person with dementia and his experiences of (re-) learning provide a unique insight into the impact of technology on his life.

This case study describes how Edinburgh University Students’ Association (EUSA) worked in partnership with the University of Edinburgh’s Information Services division to implement one of the first Open Badge schemes used in the UK higher education sector. Based on student feedback, EUSA developed an effective Open Badge model to recognise and reward students’ work as Class Representatives. The paper describes EUSA’s model of badges, badge criteria and implementation, before focusing on qualitative examples of the positive impact of this pilot project for both individual students and for the Students’ Association. It provides examples of how students reflected thoughtfully about the impact of their work as Class Representatives to develop skills in negotiation, problem solving, diplomacy, leadership, and change management. EUSA’s Open Badge scheme now rewards students for sharing their achievements. In turn, students’ Open Badge blog posts have helped EUSA to gain more meaningful insights into the broad work of Class Representatives and how students benefit when they engage fully with the role.

One of the impact of technology is the emergence of life crisis that neglect the human values. Other sides, oral traditions such as kangkilo that maintain social and religious piety tends to be abandoned and endangered. This study is done to outline the inheritance strategies of kangkilo oral tradition. The study used comparative method.The results showed one of the best inheritance strategy for oral tradition like kangkilo in the future is: (1) based on kangkilo oral tradition inheritance strategy undertaken in the Sultanate of Buton; (2) adopt a formal education learning system in which there are concepts of planning, implementation, and measured evaluation; (3) inheritance can used some medias as a result of advances in the development of science and technology; and (4) improve individualized epistemology inheritance that only to certain derivatives to be open, and used vertically or horizontally approaches inheritance.

The main purpose of this study is to learn about the role of the historical Turkish drama (The Artegrel Resurrection series as a case study) to determine the reasons behind watching such series. Hence, the descriptive and analytical approach was used to achieve the objectives of this study by adopting the questionnaire as a tool for data collection. Therefore, the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to analyze the data by performing the main statistical tests to generate the results of this study. The results of the study indicated that the most prominent (reasons) for watching the historical drama series (Artegral Resurrection) among Palestinian university students. It is to know the emergence of the Islamic Caliphate, followed by it because it reveals the truth of the conspiracies, then followed by it because it carries political and national values, in addition to that there is a belief in the request of Palestinian universities that Turkish history has been distorted, and this study recommended the necessity of conducting more research on knowing the reasons and motives for watching the series The resurrection of Artgrel among Palestinian university students and working on studying other historical series, such as the Sultan Abdul Hamid series, Kut al-Amara, the Resurrection of Othman, the Seljuk Renaissance, and conducting more research on the impact of those causes and motives on the behavior of Palestinian university students regularly and over varying periods of time to determine the extent of the impact Those reasons are in their behavior and interaction in their lives and their reality.
