Geospatial data has very specific characteristics that need to be carefully captured in its visualisation, in order for the user and the viewer to gain knowledge from it. The science of visualisation has gained much traction over the last decade as a response to various visualisation challenges. During the development of an open source based, dynamic two-dimensional visualisation library, that caters for geospatial streaming data, it was found necessary to conduct a review of existing geospatial visualisation taxonomies. The review was done in order to inform the design phase of the library development, such that either an existing taxonomy can be adopted or extended to fit the needs at hand. The major challenge in this case is to develop dynamic two dimensional visualisations that enable human interaction in order to assist the user to understand the data streams that are continuously being updated. This paper reviews the existing geospatial data visualisation taxonomies that have been developed over the years. Based on the review, an adopted taxonomy for visualisation of geospatial streaming data is presented. Example applications of this taxonomy are also provided. The adopted taxonomy will then be used to develop the information model for the visualisation library in a further study.

The Open Source Architecture (OSArc) is a new collaborative way to design common and shared areas at an architectural level, but also at an urban and technological level, etc.. It allows you to participate in the design phase both practically, with your technical contributions, and actively, with constructive criticism and intelligent and innovative suggestions. We thought of using this new design paradigm to make the Nuovo CEP project feasible and economically sustainable through the cooperation of both professionals and non-professionals (i.e. inhabitants, students, etc.). Nuovo CEP is a project, which aims to redevelop a suburban neighbourhood and transform it into a mini smart solar city. The OSArc for Nuovo CEP is realized by means of a wiki website where all interested users can register and insert their contributions together with others members of the community. In this paper, we are going to explain the Nuovo CEP project and its objectives, which will be a guideline and an inspiring source for users contributions. Then we will explain the wiki website structure used to implement the platform for the OSArc.

Abstract. Sharing and management of geospatial data among different communities and users is a challenge which is suitably addressed by Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI). SDI helps people in the discovery, editing, processing and visualization of spatial data. The user can download the data from SDI and process it using the local resources. However, large volume and heterogeneity of data make this processing difficult at the client end. This problem can be resolved by orchestrating the Web Processing Service (WPS) with SDI. WPS is a service interface through which geoprocessing can be done over the internet. In this paper, a WPS enabled SDI framework with OGC compliant services is conceptualized and developed. It is based on the three tier client server architecture. OGC services are provided through GeoServer. WPS extension of GeoServer is used to perform geospatial data processing and analysis. The developed framework is utilized to create a public health SDI prototype using Open Source Software (OSS). The integration of WPS with SDI demonstrates how the various data analysis operations of WPS can be performed over the web on distributed data sources provided by SDI.

Software repositories contain a wealth of information that can be analyzed for knowledge extraction. Software bug repositories are one such repository that stores the information about the defects identified during the development of software. Information available in software bug repositories like number of bugs priority-wise, component-wise, status-wise, developers-wise, module-wise, summary-terms-wise, can be visualized with the help of two- or three-dimensional graphs. These visualizations help in understanding the bug distribution patterns, software matrices related to the software bugs, and developer information in the bug-fixing process. Visualization techniques are exploited with the help of open source technologies in this chapter to visualize the bug distribution information available in the software bug repositories. Two-dimensional and three-dimensional graphs are generated using java-based open source APIs, namely Jzy3d (Java Easy 3d) and JFreeChart. Android software bug repository is selected for the experimental demonstrations of graphs. The textual bug attribute information is also visualized using frequencies of frequent terms present in it.

Online mining of frequent closed itemsets over streaming data is one of the most important issues in mining data streams. In this paper, we proposed a novel sliding window based algorithm. The algorithm exploits lattice properties to limit the search to frequent close itemsets which share at least one item with the new transaction. Experiments results on synthetic datasets show that our proposed algorithm is both time and space efficient.
