Ekstrak daun babadotan (Ageratum conyzoides L.)  mengandung beberapa senyawa kimia alami seperti alkaloid, saponin, polifenol, tannin dan minyak atsiri yang berguna sebagai zat pengendali hama tanaman. Ulat grayak (Spodoptera litura F.) adalah salah satu hama polifag yang menyerang banyak tanaman dengan kerugian mencapai 40-90%. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek racun perut ekstrak daun babadotan terhadap ulat grayak. Sebanyak 250gr daun babadotan dimaserasi dengan pelarut methanol 70% selama 24jam, lalu disaring dan ekstrak diuapkan dengan waterbath hingga diperoleh esktrak dasar yang kemudian dibuat menjadi konsentrasi 0%, 3%, 6% dan 9%. Pakan ulat berupa daun kubis kemudian direndam selama 5menit ke dalam masing-masing konsentrasi esktrak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perlakuan ekstrak babadotan 6% dan 9% pada pengamatan 24 jam  menghasilkan rata-rata  jumlah ulat terbanyak yaitu (1.0 ekor), dan berbeda nyata dengan perlakuan lainya. sedangkan yang terendah yaitu (0 ekor ) pada kontrol. Namun setelah pengamatan 72jam, rata-rata mortalitas tertinggi ada pada konsentrasi 9% yaitu (5 ekor) Ekstrak juga menyebabkan kegagalan dalam siklus metamorfosis pada Spodoptera litura F. ABSTRACT   Effectivity of babadotan extract (Ageratum conyzoides L.) to mortality larval of Spodoptera litura F. had been conducted at the Laboratory of Wood Chemistry, Faculty of Forestry and the Laboratory of Biology Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education University of Samarinda Mulawarman from June to  October 2010. The study aimed to determine the effectivity of the babadotan extract to mortality of larval S. litura (instarIV). Research activities were the preliminary test and advanced test. Preliminary test was  the concentration of six treatments namely 0%, 0.001%, 0.01%, 0.1%, 1% and 10%, while the advanced test consisted of four treatments viz the concentration of 0%, 5%, 10% and 20%. The result showed that the concentration of 10% resulted death rate by 60% of test larvae in preliminary trials. Whereas, the treatment of advanced test with a concentration of 20% revealed that the death rate was 100% with the periode of mortality 26-60 minutes. <p>ITS Surabaya campus has a biodiversity potential, especially plants that can be utilized. Different types of plants have been known as a potential insecticide because they contain bioactive compounds, such as essential oils, saponins, tannins, alkaloids, phenolics, flavonoids, alkenes and these terpenoids. This research was a descriptive experimental, which aimed to explore the vegetation potential as plant-based insecticide or bio-insecticide. Tracking method to obtain plant leaves samples in ITS campus was used in this study. Leaf extracts were obtained using methanol solvents after the freeze-drying method that will change leaf into powder form. The extracts were then stored in the refrigerator and ready to be applied. Leaf dipping method was used as biological test. The test conducted on Spodoptera litura larvae that obtained from Balittas Malang. Larvae rearing trials were carried out in the Laboratory of Botany, Department of Biology ITS. The larvae examined were the third instar fed on fodder greens of leaf mustard. Toxicity effects of extract were observed from mortality of Spodoptera litura during 5 days. Ten plants species with bio-insecticide potential in this study were Ageratum conyzoides L., Crynum asiaticum L., Calotropis gigantea R., Eugenia cumini Merr., Eichornia crassipes, Crescentia cujete L., Nothopanax scutellarium Merr., Morinda citrifolia L., Azadirachta indica, and Lantana camara L. <br /><strong></strong></p><p><strong>Keywords</strong> : Bio-insecticide, potential plants, Spodoptera litura</p>

Field population of Spodoptera litura from tomato ( resistant to the majority of the conventional insecticide molecules) were subjected to the in vivo toxicity of spinetoram 12 SC to assess whether cross resistance exists or not. Untreated larvae of both field and laboratory strains showed no mortality during 48 hours of feeding. After 48 hours of feeding on spinetoram 12 SC treated leaves, LC50s of field larvae were 0.28, 0.93, 3.71 and 7.11 ppm for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th instars of S. litura respectively. However, in the laboratory strain these values were 1.12, 5.86, 36.72 and 91.55 ppm for 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th instars of S. litura respectively. Resistance ratio was 0.25, 0.16, 0.10 and 0.08 for the 2nd instar up to the 5th instar of S. litura.

Gulma sebagai kompetitor bagi tanaman jagung dalam memanfaatkan unsur hara, air, cahaya dan ruang tumbuh.  Pengendalian gulma menggunakan herbisida sangat diminati oleh petani karena lebih efektif dan efisien dalam mengendalikan gulma. Herbisida yang digunakan untuk mengendalikan gulma dipertanaman jagung adalah herbisida campuran Atrazin 500 g/l + Mesotrion 50 g/l. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh herbisida campuran Atrazin 500 g/l + Mesotrion 50 g/l terhadap pertumbuhan gulma pada tanaman jagung. Penelitian dilakukan dari bulan September 2018 sampai Januari 2019 di kebun percobaan Ciparanje Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Padjadjaran, Jatinangor, Kabupaten Sumedang, Jawa Barat. Rancangan yang digunakan pada percobaan ini Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan 6 (enam) perlakuan dan 4 (empat) ulangan. Perlakuan yang dicoba adalah A). Herbisida campuran Atrazin 500 g/l dan Mesotrion 50 g/l dosis 1,50 l/ha, B). Dosis 2,0 l/ha, C). Dosis 2,50 l/ha, D). Dosis 3,0 l/ha, E). Penyiangan manual, F). Kontrol. Perbedaan antar perlakuan diuji dengan menggunakan uji F, sedangkan untuk menguji nilai rata-rata perlakuan digunakan Uji Jarak Berganda Duncan taraf nyata 5%. Herbisida campuran Atrazin 500 g/l + Mesotrion 50 g/l dengan dosis 1,5 l/ha - 3,0 l/ha  mampu menekan pertumbuhan gulma  Ageratum conyzoides; Richardia brasiliensis; Synedrella nodiflora dan gulma lainnya.serta tidak menimbulkan keracunan terhadap tanaman jagung. Pada Dosis 3,0 l/ha hasil tanaman jagung tertinggi sebesar 152,52 gram /petak. Kata Kunci : herbisida, jagung, gulma
